      Well, not actually. Maybe because of the stealth section? But honestly, I thought it was a very good touch. Sure; maybe it wasn't the greatest stealth mechanics in a game, but it was still really effective and served its purpose well. And unlike a lot of other horror games, it was a smart and respectful kind of frightening experience. Other than that one slip up, I don't see why it's not regarded the same as the base game.

      @@casualbird7671 It's the assumption that given the distance from the eye, and the speed their ship seems to travel, and the time it would take to turn your whole world to a lifeless rock, it's logical that, that would have taken a very long time to do. Later on the prisoner turns off the machine that alerts the Nomai of the eye. The nomai had never picked up the signal before that, so the signal would have to have been blocked for the entire time the Nomai were exploring the universe, and before their technology reached a point where they could detect the eye. It's for these reasons many believe the Strangers did their thing millions of years ago.
      All we know is that it had to have happened before the Nomai arrived, and before Dark Bramble was destroyed. And for the Strangers to likely be dead by the time the Nomai arrive, so they don't make contact with the Nomai and tell them to leave the eye alone. After all, they positioned themselves above the solar system an such a way where they could see every planet, and this would likely be where new travelers would come should they come looking for the eye. They would know if travelers arrived in the system, and dispatch their saucer like ships we find in the hangers, to make contact and turn the travelers away.

Everyone is supposed to laugh and be happy that we finally have a break in the week, but it's nothing like that. Our planet's song was always dreary. Everyone just sounds sad when they sing. The food is flavorless. Nothing about it is fun. This ship has sapped the life out of everyone on it.

    At first I thought that this was just creepy music that the owlks enjoyed listening to but after hearing how much more cheerful the prisoners portion of Travelers' encore is in comparison, I don't think they enjoy it at all.
    Considering that the song is called Elegy for the Rings (where the rings are most likely referencing the slides which show their past actions), how they burnt said slides and the definition of elegy being "a poem of reflection", I think this is an expression of their self loathing or some form of regret for what they did to their home.

For the owls, their bodies are long dead (probably killed by the interloper explosion) and thus their minds have nowhere to return to once kicked out of the dream thus they die

      @@TheZombiesAreComing they died long before the bramble even exploded the icy planet probably, if you take a look at them they've clearly been mummified due to being sealed in their places, never waking, depending on how long it takes for their species to start starving they could have all started to die weeks later, it was only after the bramble exploded the planet that the nomai even found the solar system, then after a whole generation of nomai the interloper found it's way to the galaxy. So the interloper couldn't have killed them, they most likely starved to death or died from no water or something of that line well before the interloper.
      As for the green flame, that is correct, since if you are in the house or tower, you will find you wake up everytime the flame is snuffed, and if you find reels they'll be able to explain things in more details (but that shall be left for you to find yourself)

    I can't help but feel bad for the Strangers. They destroyed their own home in pursuit of an unknown but seemingly very profound goal, only to realize after it was too late that what they had found was nothing more than a reset button for a universe that wouldn't be in need of a reset for hundreds of thousands of years to come. I can hardly blame them for becoming bitter towards the Eye, or for blocking its signal off. In their minds they were sparing other species from making the same mistake that they had. Given what happened to the Nomai when they followed the signal it's difficult to say that the Strangers were entirely wrong either.

    • @vintagedot8350
      @vintagedot8350 Před rokem +17

      I kinda disagree simply bc the universe was running out of time by that point. Sure from our perspective there was plenty of time but from a macro perspective the Owlks very nearly damned all existence to oblivion when they blocked the eyes signal.
      If the prisoner hadn't let the signal out then the nomai would never have found the eye and the universe would have rotted away into nothingness.

      @@vintagedot8350 We even see from a restored frame of the vision the Strangers saw, from the Prisoner's burnt home, that they actually saw it would bring life to a new universe. Like, they may not have known if the Eye would cause the destruction of the universe or not. Honestly, it could be like a black hole in there to some degree, infinite(ish) gravity warping spacetime into making it look like all of reality just fades away. But they were afraid of what might have been, and angered, feeling betrayed, having given up their planet to something that wasn't as beneficial as thought. Merely a burden, a grim necessity that, as mentioned, may not have been needed for hundreds of thousands of years. Like, I get why they were angered, but blocking it off? Insane. Everything needs to end some day.

    • @vergolophus
      @vergolophus Před rokem +10

      Adding to these other two replies is that the Nomai were in that horrible crash because of the Owlks and not the Eye. The eye signal was unblocked for a brief moment and it rippled outward, but it was once again blocked-- permanently. The Nomai followed as far as they could, but then their rippled signals suddenly cut entirely and the Nomai became stranded in the Dark Bramble. If they let the signals play out, the Nomai would have gotten to the Eye without problems.
      The Eye of the universe is not malicious, nor sapient-- it only calls out when time is running out. It was the Owlk's doing that lead to the destruction of their planet, not the Eye.
      It is much like a mountain. Many die trying to reach the peak, but the mountain is not at fault. It is just a mountain. And the Eye is just the Eye.

The rings are (I think) the rings that surround the planet in their homeworld's sky, something that is now lost to them.
