Dude, I know you're trying to get back into the swing of things, but you can't review a piracy game and call yourself "the Completionist who plunders" immediately after a scandal involving finances.
That’s twisting his words to fit a false narrative. He defined a completionist (in general) as someone who plunders everything from a video game. It describes the term using pirate lingo, which fits within the context of the game.

@@shatteredglass233 What clout is gained here? Most people are just random viewers, not youtubers. Also, looking at the statistics on his patreon and social blade, clearly there are subscribers that are angry with him as well. It's very lazy to just say CLOUT and DRAMA when facts don't go your way.

I don't know about Cinemassacre but I'm frequent Nitro quite often and have never found him to do anything weird. That is all, just a question out of curiosity.

@@ravenfelter3055 Thought about that too. Unfortunately, it may be indeed true. It may be also that he intends to separate his image from the videos, so that new viwers who only heard of the controversy do not feel discouraged from opening the videos, but it is just a random guess.

@dlockpoint those discs are just licenses. You don't own the actual game..most of those discs dont even have the game on it and the ones thst do are still copied/run entirely on the console
@@dlockpointyou do know that you agree to terms of services that literally say “You don’t own your account and that you are just using a service/servers that you can be banned off without any reason”(in legal speak) right? If a game has a DRM (requires internet access and account) the physical copy is useless without internet/account. A physical game without a day 1 patch is many times, completely unplayable. You really don’t own games anymore.

I think The Completonist use to be quite cool with the Intro and all, now he is just alone. Was it all just buisness & big marketing team behind all.
What’s stopping him from using the old intro? I mean he still using the name completionist , anybody who can stand or sit through his videos are not going to get offended by it. I’m assuming it’s bought and paid for so go ahead and use se it.

How ironic you play a pirate game when you thieve in real life
Can’t remember the details because it’s been a few years, but I got stuck on a mission where I was supposed to sneakily follow someone in my ship. Couldn’t get past that, and eventually never went back to the game. I remember really enjoying the game though, especially attacking the bases with my pirate ship.
If it was one in a swamp area I quit at the same point, just broke me and I never went back

I really valued the completion stats in the end of an episode. How many hours played, how many crucial items were collected, some descriptions of the main completion challenges. It really helped put things into perspective and I feel its abscence in the last few episodes.

If you imply it has to do with the scandal, I would disagree. There definitely seem to be drop in the scope of the videos' writing and editing but adding those stats is a simple matter and should not be affected by the lack of professional editor or extra writers. They could be simple text on the screen or even just read. Will still be welcome.
@@nerdzone It's likely an issue with CZcams's algorithm showing them drop-off rates at certain points in older videos with those stats included. I think it's also likely the same reason the intro is gone as well, because it probably causes viewer retention to drop off and they obviously can't afford losing viewers and engagement since that's how their monetization is determined by CZcams.

@macintoshexplorer Losing employees wouldn't cause him to be unable to record his completion stats, considering he was recording a lot of that stuff even before his company had many employees. Again the easiest explanation is them trying to work the CZcams Algorithm to keep retention.

Nah, they actually retrofitted the ride to fit the movie.
Nah, it's a very old ride. When I went to Disney world as a kid all the mannequins were just generic looking pirates
I guess I never really paid much attention to the theme park side, and had only heard of the rides after the movies. So this is all kinda neat to learn.

This game hit different in 2013-14. I replayed this and Rogue a little bit later and it wasn't as good as I remembered. Brave on you as usual, for completing the onine achievements. I don't know how you do it lol
To anyone willing to give this game a try for the first time DO NOT buy the Steam version. As of 2023, Ubisoft severely broke the game with a surprise update (you can only play in windowed mode, for example). I recommend, instead, getting the Switch "Rebels Collection" which has all the DLC for Black Flag and AC Rogue.

I learned my lesson with AC3 to avoid pc versions of this series (and pretty much all Ubisoft games on pc for that matter)

It is simply amazing how everyone misunderstood what the Ubisoft guy said. He said that in order for services like game pass to take off, people will have to get comfortable with not owning games. That is very different from what everyone is saying. They're not gonna take away your games.

Black Flag will never be topped when it comes to pirate action games. I'm so glad they're remastering it.

Yeah, trying to get all trophies/achievements for this game nowadays is absolutely rough. I hear the PS3/Xbox 360 version is broken, but wasn’t going to stack it anyway. 100% on the PS4 version was annoying enough.
Those multiplayer trophies especially are never fun.
I personally enjoy Jirard’s voiceovers and never cared about him as a person, he’s just got a pleasant delivery. With that in mind I’ll keep watching if we keeps creating. More power to those who can’t abide but as super casual viewer, it’s whatever.
I've always heard about how AC4 was really good, but I still can't bring myself to give it a go. I just felt like I had my fill of the series with 1 thru 3.
It has some of the best gameplay but it's the worst in terms of Assassin's Creed lore. I think it's why a lot of people prefer it while I think it's meh.
Yeah, think most people dropped the series after AC3. Plus too, each game after the last is always a bigger map and full of a lot more missions/collectibles. Definitely a franchise you have to take long breaks between.
I recommend you try it out. It really doesn't feel like the prior AC games. It barely touches on the "assassin" themes for most of the story, but it has an awesome pirate story.
4 is a different beast. 4 was basically made for people tired of the formula from 1-3.
Rogue might be a better fit, improves on the gameplay of 4 but it's a lot smaller, so it's not as overwhelming with all the stuff to do, and the story is really good
Still to this day my favorite assassins creed game. I brought it on sale a while ago and it’s just as fun as I remember being when I was a kid. I have a lot of memories of going to my friends house and playing black flag with him for hours while we sung the sea shanties along with the game

Does the Switch version have online play? Maybe you could have avoided worrying about those multiplayer achievements if you played that version.
There aren't really achievements on switch. But there's still the abstergo challenges.
Switch doesn’t have trophies/achievements.
One of the few games that I've had the pleasure of almost completing myself, but I couldn't because I didn't have Xbox live and some of the achievements and unlockables were locked behind Uplay and the multiplayer. Yeah, I love this game, it's one of the final good Assassin's Creed games, but it really is a "Finish It", the completion process is definitely more of a chore than it is a fun challenge. Still, was fun to complete what I could of it.
This was one of those games I always wanted to play, just to stress my graphics card simulating dem waves
Assassin's Creed Black Flag always looked like a hell of a good time to me, but I never really got into the Assassin's Creed series as a whole, so I've yet to really dive into it. Naval combat, or ship to ship combat in general has always held my attention, and been exceptionally fun, even if I'm probably not the greatest at operating things with a ton of moving parts to em, but all the same, the spectacle and feel of having a giant vessel bombarding an enemy into oblivion, is a ton of fun. All that aside, great episode, Jirard. Looking forward to the next one my guy.
At this point in anno 2024 I would say wait until February and then play Skull & Bones. I played the closed beta in December 2023 and I can say it's absolutely great fun, even without multiplayer. You'll still encounter some other players and from time to time you sail by a fort or such and suddenly you have a group of 5 ships shelling the fort to smithereens. Very ad-hoc and people were very supportive. Respected the pirate code to not shoot each other as well.
I played this as part of the Rebel Collection on the Switch. That version completely git rid of online play, so completing it wasnt bad.
I was wondering about that! That’s how I played this game, and I didn’t remember it prompting me to do anything online. I suppose completionisits wouldn’t like switch though, since it doesn’t have trophies.

Absolutely loved this game. Singing along with the crew. The beautiful sunsets and the terrifying storms and crashing waves.
So incredibly immersive. I wish I could experience something like that again.

I honestly couldn't get as much into this because of the ship tailing missions. Plus I'm not as big on the ship gameplay as I am on being the crazy parkouring assassin.

I never played the AC games when they first came out but in recent years I caught up on AC 1-3, so Black Flag will be next for me.
By the way, there was already an open world pirate game one year before Black Flag, called Risen 2. It's from the studio that made the Gothic games, which are very iconic games in parts of Europe. Sadly Risen 2 is said to not be very good though, so only look into it if you really want to try another pirate game.

Might just be me but I don't remember having an issue with the white whale etc - must have gotten lucky, as I definitely played it long after release.
Pirate games are the next best evolution of survival games, but we can't ever get a good pirate game. AC:BF is the best pirate game, and that's sad sense it's been so long.
I played on the Wii-U, where the "Companion App" was built in. I remember thinking everyone saying the gamepad was useless while Ubisoft made a phone app to do what the Wii-U gamepad did.

The only Assassins Creed game I’ve never played and but have always wanted to play. The multiplayer aspect of the game and achievements attached to it has always been the reason I’ve never done it. Grinding for hours in an otherwise limited mode is not my idea of time well spent.
Hopefully they do remake/remaster it without the multiplayer aspect.

What happened to The Completionist intro? It's one of the most exciting parts of each episode.
Intros in youtube videos are detrimental to channels. Some like it, but stats show majority want to get right to the action. So it's most likely dropped for the health of the episodes.

AC4: Black Flag is my 2nd favorite AC title, right behind AC2: Brotherhood, the Ship Battles are great, the exploration is fun and when i'm sailing to and fro, i can take in the sounds of the sea and the shanties that the crew fills the air with.

It is. I remember once having an entirely unscripted naval battle in the midst of a huge storm with massive waves tossing all the ships back and forth, having to avoid both cannon fire and the sea and weather.

PS3 version online is completely jacked up. I managed to unlock that community sharing trophy just before it became unobtainable so I got lucky.

I loved the Origin's trilogy, and I've been playing AC since 2007, but out of all of em, Black Flag is my favorite.

As a fan of pirate media, the One Piece live action had a similar sort of visual tone to the PotC films. Recommended.

I’ve been playing Assassin’s Creed for years, so out of respect I wanted to 100% each of them on Xbox, I just finished them on the 7th of this month and the only one that’s not truly finished is Black Flag, I have the bull shit multiplayer stuff left plus the Community challenges, to unlock some items like the sails, swords, guns, and a few other things. I really REALLY hope the remake gets rid of multiplayer and the community challenges, or at least makes it doable solo!
I was playing the Pirates world in KH3 and suddently realized "OMG this is just the sailing in AC4!"
