As an African American, I'm perplexed when some of my friends say they're voting for Trump. Democrats have a number of issues, but in my opinion, a vote for Trump isn't in our best interest. Also, my friends voting for Trump are big on conspiracy theories, so imagine that. Lol

Minority voters should pay attention to the plans being laid by Stephen Miller etc to eliminate the programs that help the economic disadvantaged and minorities.

As a white female retired and generally an independent, I have never voted for the orange Jesus and I can’t imagine how any woman or man who cares about women and families could bring themselves to vote republican at all. My daughter married into a family who are almost all Republican. (Two of my Granddaughters are the exceptions). My point is that based on my experience, I would never change my Party affiliation. If Trump were running as a Democrat I would definitely rethink that.
May I add. Biden has given millions of people debt relief, union wages, oil rig jobs, reduced insulin prices, now fair practice of airline fees, new roads, bridges, internet access in rural areas, etc. These people will vote because they owe Biden a thank you.

But they did, so everyone needs to calm down. There are no votes to give him absolute immunity. At best they carve out limited immunity for official acts on behalf of the people and provide some direction to the lower courts. Non of which will apply to Trump. I still think this trial could commence in the fall.

As a Florida woman who helped put that amendment on the ballot, I know the stakes. They couldn’t be higher. I often think I should move, but I think my voice is needed down here right now. I was here when the 2000 eletction was decided by the supreme court, with 3 of the current justices on the ground. Our voices are important.

But Trump would have to flip almost every vote in 2020. It can't be overstated how much Trump is hated by America. Polls are manufactured to get their desired results. All tou have to do is watch Trump and Republicans to see they know the end game. All this craziness needs to be turned into massive turnout in 2024
I never liked TFG. I said in 2018, he was showing early signs of dementia. How do I know? My Father had signs of it in 2008 and died of Alzheimer's in 2014. We lived it 24/7 for 6 years and what Simon Rosenberg said about his daughter working with patients deteriorating is absolutely spot on. I've felt it from my experience also. He is erratic and talks in circles all the time. TFG doesn't need to be in any office in our govt ever again, and we need to vote out the MAGA faction also. I would love to see the old conservative Republicans stand up and take back their party. Where parties can argue over bills yet accomplish something, no matter who's the majority. Big money in politics needs to go too. That's influencing things way too much away from we the people.

The message you share about your conversation with Savage is important but pretty unwelcome for most people. Young people who are pissed because Joe Biden isn't instantly solving their immediate concerns and threaten not to vote for him need to understand the utter disaster he walked into in 2020. (as Rosenberg described) He has done an incredible job in spite of this obstructionist and ridiculous GOP. He deserves another term to finish the plan.
He also had to deal with Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema. His accomplishments from his first two years would be even more impressive if not for them. Blaming Joe Biden - and Obama, for that matter - for legislative losses caused by Republican obstructionists and corporate Dems is just ignorance of how government works, mixed in with some Tik Tok algorithms, in my opinion.

This has been a great interview. Simon, I recently retired from a Spanish Language media company in Nevada after 22 years. I am constantly baffled by the recent number of Hispanics who say they will vote for Trump this time around. They site high inflation, high gas prices etc. Nevada needs work by the Dems at the grass roots level, and with high ad budgets both broadcast and social media. I myself plan to volunteer for the Dems this election cycle. Don’t forget about Northern Nevada typically more red than LV.
Good afternoon from the blustery SF Bay Area. One of the best things that has happened for me in this awful era is finding camaraderie with Republicans. I am a huge fan of the Bulwark network and listen to it all the time in spite of being an old school Bay Area liberal. I was feeling so low this morning after Harry Litman's report on SCOTUS and Simon was just the antidote I needed. Everyone must step up and do it ourselves, Liz said," No one is coming to save us, we must save ourselves." I'm with her, who knew that was possible! Tell everyone to read Project 2025, they are TELLING us the dark truth of what they want to do.

I can sleep tonight after having listened to the amazing analysis of Mr Rosenberg. He has given us some hope that we will not be living under Trump come November.
Please have Rosenberg more often so that we get a reality check that we have a big chance to beat MAGA given their track record of unbroken streak of losses since 2020.

Rosenberg is an articulate and persuasive spokesman for the cause. I hope he has it right. It’s vexing that Trump has 46 percent of the voters locked in. And then there is Kennedy.

He only has 30% locked in. Those are the die hards. The rest are persuadable, at least to not vote for Trump, even if they won't vote for Biden. Nikki Haley is still getting 16-17% in Republican primaries even though she dropped out weeks ago.
But here's the thing -- over on the other side they're being lied to 24/7. What they believe is stunning.

I so needed that glimpse of hope! The absolutely crazy stuff we are dealing with right now is almost too much for me to handle. I'm 66 & can't believe how low so many people have gotten.

You always overrate 2022. Here in Florida (3rd largest state!), we Dems didn't even try to win and thus gave the U.S. House to MAGA/GOP and gave Rubio 6 more years. Our campaigning was so miserable that only HALF of registered Dems bothered to vote. When do Dems start fighting for this huge, diverse, winnable state? (Winnable due to 5 MILLION Social Security recipients who know nothing of GOP's hate for SS/Medicare.)

Tim, in 1968 we had a draft! The college protests today are very pale wannabe gatherings compared to the protests then. Boyfriends, brothers, cousins, etc were being sent to Vietnam Nam to die. The feelings in the country were beyond angry and then Nixon got elected! Can you imagine?!
I'll never forget.
Such a scary time. My oldest brother was very close to being old enough for the draft when the war ended. I remember how scared our whole family was. I feel much the same way now. Complete disbelief that we could even allow someone who tried to overthrow the last election be on the ballot makes me question everything about my country.

Always appreciate Bulwark insights. Thank you for being here. I live in deep MAGA here in eastern NC. Bringing forth how problematic Trump is will not be enough in deep MAGA. Strategy must also include not just excellent progress Biden has made (means nothing here) but why he is not as awful as they think, based on what they value. I personally use Biden dedication to troops and contrast with Trump statements on MCCain, “prisoners of war are losers” etc. This part of NC is home to numerous key military installations. Provide more of these if you have them - they likely change depending on geography. Thanks again.

I truly hope Biden remains healthy. As to the Hispanic vote, the illegal immigration problem does need to be addressed, without alienating Hispanics - how to accomplish that? The loss of women’s rights and healthcare must be relentlessly repeated. We need to reach out to independents and former Trump voters, who really want an alternative this time around.
Biden is not healthy now and he won’t get any better. 😂
I think Tuesday's primary in Pennsylvania provides more solid information than all the polls done in that state.
PA the seat of our country's Founding will not vote for a dictator. I have faith in them.
Those voters were the most tuned-in most informed of all of them. They are unrepresentative of the masses. Polls in the 2020 election underestimated Trump's support by 4 points nationally. I still know all the same people who voted for him the last two times are going to do it again, except one. Many democrats are really fed up with Biden however. I'm going by people I know well. This is going to be a close election or an outright Trump win. Biden is historically unpopular, even more than Carter. I think it is all the RW media ecosystem that has been doing its job and is more effective each cycle. Democrats are the underdog in the next presedential election. These court cases make for good political theater, but are not going to change minds. Trump is up anywhere from 1pt to 8 or 9 nationally. Biden has a heavy lift to win states like Nevada. All these conclusions are from David Axelrod, Obama's chief campaign strategist. The silver lining in his opinion is Trump is crazy, his own worst enemy. Biden and his supporters will have to work like hell to make this race competitive. If the election were held today, Biden would lose decisively. The more who decide to donate and door knock, the better the outlook will be. There are millions who dislike Biden who need to be educated, that he *has* gotten things done and isn't a terrible guy.
Pennsylvania is a closed primary. We could only vote for the party you're registered, but it was encouraging to see so many republicans still voting for Haley. They are rejecting tRump.
Hopefully Simon comes back again for another interview before November.
The Bulwark staff and guests inspire me in a time where inspiring people/events are at a minimum.

I appreciate Simon’s take on the Trump issue: The American people need to stop waiting for the judiciary & *WE* need to be the judges, through our votes, for keeping Trump out of office again! IMHO, the media needs to stop looking at the bright shiny legal trials, & focus on the 7 issues that Simon so succinctly presented! That synopsis should be the framework for Biden’s campaign!
