The best jumpscares are subtle ones, with no loud noises to do the scaring for you but instead well timed horror and imagery. This is why I prefer watching shorts on YT over Hollywood tripe. Well done man!
One thing that I've noticed about a lot of these CZcams horror shorts is that they often have very strong set-ups and a great sense of style but they feel the need to throw in some kind of un-necessary monster at the end. The filmmaker did a wonderful job ramping up the tension using the Echo, something which feels well thought out and unique. As such, it's a bit of a let-down when we end on a zombie lady.
I get this one a lot. Imagine you make a video called “funny joke.” The talent begins by telling a story that gets more and more ridiculous. Eventually you’re wondering where this is all heading!? Then it cuts out before the punchline. You feel like you waisted your time. Some people do tell stories this way. I just wanted to give people a pay off to the tension :)
Yeah. Ending on "I found you" would bring closure, but not the unnecessary visual reveal. "I found you", brief shot of her reacting face, a beat, then cut to black.
I actually thought the jumps are was really well done I was expecting a typical jump out of the closet but the Alexa completely distracted me so I was so caught off guard by the man.

Really love the inclusion of modern tech as a work around to the idea of the short film. In time the film will age like the way nostalgia does. Really great concepts. And that scare at the end was so good! Wasn't expecting it not to come from the closet
I can see this playing out in a paranormal activity type movie with the twist on the formula being that they have devices picking up things...that they haven't deliberately set up (unlike the cameras)...but they are responding...and the idea of hearing the responses but not the voices...that's creepy. Imagine something like this happening in the living room...while everyone is sleeping upstairs...and the kids hearing and telling their parents but they think they're imagining things...then things take a turn when the virtual assistants start communicating with other devices in their house.
Whoa!!! Nice ending .... while I was terrified she was going to look in the closet, I was completely jumped out of my seat when that "thing" was under her nightstand! Well done!!!
Another little gem of this canal. Also in this case I reiterate my positive vote as for the other short film 'Don't peek'. When a horror movie, long or short, manages to cause shivers down your spine, have no doubts that it is a quality product.
omg last night i woke up exactly at 4:04 am for some reason and i stood up to go to the bathroom and when i came back i laid on my bed and everything was quite and Alexa activated and also said "i cant hear you speak louder" i swear to got i was shaking i diconnected it and tried to go back to bed and today i searched this up because it remanded me of this

Very good camera work. great transitions, acting and cinematography. The visual effects are on point and the lights made the mood. I was curious how the monster will look like. Perfect. just perfect. You know how horror works. I got goose bumps when the monster appeared. Great horror short!
Thanks for ruining my echo. I have had an echo, then echo show for about a year... my house is FULLY automated (Nest, August Door lock, Ring doorbell, Wemo swiches, philips hue light bulbs, etc). I play white noise and rain sounds to sleep at night and sometimes, out of no where, the Echo will just say, "I'm having trouble with your playlist" and just stop playing... other times, it will say "I'm sorry, I didn't catch that" even though I didn't say anything and the word "Alexa" wasn't said on TV or anything... now I"m afraid of my echo...
this is why I’m scared of all automatic things, matter of fact my worst fear was a automatic AI or anything such as a fire alarm, etc. going off while I’m sleeping, I always put my Alexa’s 3 rooms away from me when I sleep bc of this.

Cool. Very nice use of tech to make this really relevant. Im sure people will comment on the "having to call alexa's name so she'll respond" situation - but i imagine the creature WAS doing that, just at a whisper. Very nice, AND short and to the point.
Man you actually write well thought out plots, it's gripping and it pays off, I think you should make big in Hollywood, like your stuffs have real quality edge over other youtube horror flims
