It always puts a smile on my face when I'am looking at things like that.
This was when music was music, these guys all played with emotion and passion,
Rip Cornelius Bumpus , Bobby Lakind and Keith Knudsen
No auto tune, no tape loops, no overdubs, no cut & paste. Just pure talent. That was great!
And some reverb of course
And no computers
without dubbbbbbs
And 2 wedge !
No talent show, no people with mobile phones...
Such a shame that Cornelius only did one album with the Doobies, and died so young. Keyboards, vocals, and saxophone... that man had it all.
🙂
Whats album?
Fantastic musician. I saw the "band" along with Steely Dan in Dublin 2yrs ago. Still great to see them, but the energy had dwindled....!!
@@Mu_de_Aries One step closer 1980.
@@jackbeam56 he's also on two live albums: "Farewell Tour" and "Rockin' down the Highway: The Wildlife Concert"
jesus christ, dude on the keys/saxophone/main vocals is a fucking beast. how the fuck can anyone be that talented?!?! incredible.
All are. Its unreal
Mote proof that the best pop music was in the 70’s.
That's rock. Pop music was Donny and Marie Osmond. The best rock was in the 70s.
I regret that I have only one thumbs up to give !!!! There are no more musicians like this anymore !!!!!!
That rhythm section was just incredible. Hell of a performance.
awesome
Outstanding 👍
Cornelius Bumpus did his thing, then had the nerves to give us a sax solo. Love it.
The 1970’s was the best decade in the history of music.
Man I miss it.
Lets not forget to mention the brilliance in the bass player. Incredible ease of perfection! Bravo bro
Thight, what a masterpiece of work.
I maybe old, but at least I grew up with music like this
That's RIGHT ,,, 😊
Totally
It's now February 2024, it's still sounds fresh and I just love the expression on the face of the guy in the orange shirt playing the congas (sorry, don't know his name), and RIP all those members who already hv left us, thank you for the music
That rhythm section is on freakin fire!!!!
I wasn't rocking with them in 70's. I was born in 71. I do love them now. I wish I could have lived it and experienced their talent back in their prime. Their music is timeless! ❤
People aren’t as amazed at live music as they used to be.
I was taught guitar by a Doobie Brothers stand in the ‘70s named Alfie Stein while living in Manhattan,KS during my Dad’s assignment at Ft. Reilly, KS when in the 4th grade. He’d be flown in and cover if they were sick or otherwise unavailable including a show at Madison Square Garden, a highlight for him. He was incredible and did teach me sheet music, but his focus was on playing by ear, sound and feel. This , Stairway to Heaven and Rocky Mountain Way were the first 3 songs he taught me. Resulted in me getting to play in the hop bands while attending USMA and playing in other original music bands afterwards through my 30’s. I still laugh that my Mom told me I needed to learn something country if I wanted continued lesson funding, so Alfie taught me “I Walk the Line” from Johnny Cash. She now in her 70’s still requests to hear that when she visits now in 2022. Thank you Doobie brothers and Mr. Alfie Stein for your positive influence on my life!
Compare the incredible talent and the music they produced back then with the absolute unmitigated garbage that is being peddled as music today…
RIP Rock and Roll.
Name one band in the last two decades that is anywhere near this good
WOW. These guys are friggin' phenomenal. One of the best live versions of a song in recorded histories. Such incredible talent. They are so so so so together. Awesome.
I like Tom Johnston though
Except for the drummer rushing his fill for sure...lol
Real musos …
@@mahatmagandhi7588
I ❤ Tom too, but this lineup was able to do his song justice while he was on sick leave.
Thanks God there were not cellular phones back then, pure joy and fun 🤩
This Conga/Bongos solo of Bobby LaKind is amazing!
THIS IS PURE JAMMIN'... LONG LIVE THE DOOBIE BROTHERS!!! 🎶🎶🎶
Who ever gave this a thumbs down needs their thumbs cut off. EPIC VERSION AND TIMELESS MUSIC
What is give to be there right now
The 1970’s was the best decade in the history of music.
Man I miss it.
The worlds full of dickheads
try and get over yourself pal, being a pompous fanny must be tiring
@@murrayalex4843 I guess you would know?
One of the best highlights of the Michael McDonald era of The Doobie Brothers was Cornelius Bumpus. Only he could do such a phenomenal rendition of "Long Train Runnin'" years after Tom Johnston left the band.
This has got to be one of the best live performances by The Doobie Brothers!
One of the greatest bands of all time.
Without any doubt !!
Pure music. Just soul , heart and joy
Not too many bands sound so much better live than on vinyl..these genius musos were one such example...absolute brilliance..😊😊😊
What an absolute treat to see these guys play, and don't forget the legend 'Michael McDonald' on piano in the background seemingly playing a cameo roll.
I saw the Doobie Bros in the New Haven Coliseum in CT aug 30 1975 I went with my parents. I was like 7yrs old and the only way I can describe it was hippies, volley balls, frisbees and a whole lot of POT. Btw the other bands that night were the Outlaws and Elvin Bishop Group. There were tons of joints being passed around and people just shared with everyone. I kept asking my mom what that smell was and she avoided the question lol. Doobie bros are great
The 1970’s was the best decade in the history of music.
Man I miss it.
Probably one of the best bands with 3 drummers, 2 keyboards, and 2 guitars.
don't forget the bassist. Willie Weeks getting no love in some people's comments here
One of the “Greatest Bands In The World” that just doesn’t get their credit for it except for their fans who know the real truth and appreciate and love it every time they get to see them.
I like how they got together separately to combine their individual videos during the Covid time to bring their music to us all just as a bunch of other musicians did. My appreciation to all who did. It shows us all how much musicians just love to play and be heard and it brought much needed happiness in one of America’s worst times in a wave of tragedies ever growing, fires, floods, landslides, tornadoes, hurricanes and on and on. The pandemic took over a million great Americans away and many of those were musicians we all remember. So for Great older bands such as the Doobie’s to get together and still play for us all is like a beautiful ray of sunshine warming us all. May god bring peace to us all, and keep on loving that good music and each other.
The Doobies were awesome and hold their spot as one of the greatest Southern rock bands. Allman Brothers and Skynyrd
and Doobies however the order they were the heart and soul of Southern Rock period
Willie Weeks killing it on bass.
The great Cornelius Bumpus. Sax player, keyboards and a damn fine song writer.
When the drum solos are in full towe its just lovely to see Cornelius gazing over and watching he put himself in the audiences shoes for that moment, humbled him im sure!
Cornelius Bumpus was also from Santa Cruz
What a show..
R.i.P Mr, Bumpus
Cornelius Bumpus was extremely underrated and a brilliant musician and master of many instrument, and the man could sing like a lark...He passed way to young. A great loss for the music world.
@Evan Hodge GFY...as if that name is known to the everyday music listener...get bent a-hole
Oooooouuuiii… where would you be right noooowwwwwwwwww…
Cornelius Bumpus did his thing, then had the nerves to give us a sax solo. Love it.

Damn right incredible musician
#Savage
Incredibly talented. Another Doobies/Steely Dan connection, along with Mike McDonald and Jeff Baxter.
The hardest working conga player ever lmfao. But for real I love the Doobie bros.
What Great Talent and Genius, I wore out my DB’s tape on one road trip in 77, cruising and grooving… what a band!
Holy crap.
How did I get to age 55 without seeing this performance? I just got grooved.
Better late than never.
Its kinda weird us being the older guys now..
😧im 56 and same ive never seen this singer but noticed micheal mcdonald was still there ✌️
Lol
I'm 55 .. this is cool .
Great sounds and let's thank the good Lord for the bass player who held this whole thing together!!! Period brothers.
the great Willie Weeks
This video should be shown on every indoctrination college campus! Back in the 70'-80's we were all Brothas! PERIOD!!!
The other example would be Booker T & The M.G's.
One of the best videos on CZcams
That was just plain old fun!!💪👊👌
Man... I so much miss these days when the bands were getting down and musicians were getting off. This was the real deal. Not like the junk so called music out there today.
American rock at its absolute best ! Pure energy but with such great refinement, incredible! And a sax solo in the middle of it all ! Out of this world if you compare that with what you get to listen to nowadays. Phenomenal musicians !
Very well Said.
The 1970’s was the best decade in the history of music.
Man I miss it.
70's and the 80's
Heaven is a rewind button....fingers crossed everybody.
There will never be a better decade for music and cinema.
やっぱりアメリカンPOPは80年代じゃない?
Fact :1980s was king because its the only decade had the most diversified and different genres of music out of any other decade and MTV catapulted in the summer of 1981 and through the rest of the decade of the 1980s.
This concert was their finest hour...SUPERB!!!
That's what I called M U S I C
I Love the 70'S 80' and why not the 60'S
I love the color of the drum kit, sweet
I mean we already know how awsome the band is
Love John McFee jumping down onstage without messing a beat
The 1970’s was the best decade in the history of music.
Man I miss it.
For years I thought this was an Isley Brothers Tune!
What a lovely setting, Santa Barbara on a lovely summer’s day, oh yeah great music too
A precious Jem. Music for centuries! Had so much meaning Never be old. People were different, so much talent in each of them. This masterpiece is special! Cornelius I love your charisma, I want you back!
Probably one of the best bands with 3 drummers, 2 keyboards, and 2 guitars.
And one bassist
This the only one band . Other can't afford to have 3 drumers 😂😂
Except BST, Chicago, Allman Brothers, Santana Genesis..
Three drummers, wow.
In the world!
This is the definition of GREAT music!!!!!!!!
when i was young the nuns used to beat on my head the same as those bongo drums. now i am a drummer!
Sax, keys, AND vocals, and more than competent at all. Sheesh.
Who ever gave this a thumbs down needs their thumbs cut off. EPIC VERSION AND TIMELESS MUSIC
Oh the talent of yester year . Kids nowadays would think a flying v was a jet fighter. What i would give to go back then ❤
West coast blue eyed soul at its finest.
This is indeed a legendary bit of rock history. Three of the Doobies featured in this video are no longer with us. May their spirit live on forever through their music! Rock on Doobie Brothers! Your music and talent are timless.
超カッコイイ!🤩
いつ観ても最高のメンバー構成だなぁ🎺🎸🥁🎷🎹
This entire band was talented
I've never heard Cornelius sing this before and he sounds brilliant.
I was expecting Patrick to sing it but this is excellent.
Rest In Peace big man, you are a giant in music.
BIG MAN
Great music played by great musicians!
now thats music boys and girls..
I love it when you can see in the faces that the whole band knows what is going on here. L.E.G.E.N.D
They can feel it when they are on a roll.
ボビー・コーネリアス・キースありがとう😭😭
Yeah. Our music was and still is the best!
They are from San Jose,California,my hometown.Awesome band....no more real music like this, today is autocorrect bullshit!!
Couldn’t agree more with you
Proof beyond doubt that music is ALWAYS best live when high quality musicians are banging it out. Great solos!!
Agreed today there's no MoJo with digital dubbing
Yeah, those damn pop artists who have dumb lyrics written by someone else can't compare to talented musicians who write their own lyrics and music, and know how to have every member of the band do an epic freestyle solo in just one song.
マジシビレまする〜このドラム響きます
This video is proof beyond doubt that there was a lot of cocaine consumed back then.
@@davidnissim9203 Ah well, bang go the Stones, Beatles and about 80% of all acts
Pure raw musical talent of the highest level
My God this is so wicked this is how it's properly done young folks
this is the coolest song ive ever heard...i cant believe this is not still on the top ten charts even though its from like 30 years ago
Yup, you so right these guys are a class act, unbelievable live performance 👏 But try 50 years ago
this is music
With this amount of musicanship, I was expecting the stage to collapse!
RIP Cornelius, Bobby, Keith, Little John, Michael Hossack. ✝️
Bongo dude laying down some fat beats! Quality live performance

Agree😇

Brings back memories of my teen years, that was music
MAN! How good was that!Pass the Doobie to the left hand side 🤔🎉
Time should have just stayed in the 70's
Wow Cornelius! Lead vocals, keys and a sax solo to boot!
nothing to say except what a ******* masterpiece that is!!
DAMN!! What a line-up. Phenomenal solos.
On a side note (yeah I'm bragging, I was lucky enough to meet Cornelius Bumphus years ago. After a brief conversation he invited me.back to his house to play with him and his friends. The best part was I got invited back a second time. RIP Mr. B.
70年代後半から

Looks like one of the greatest concerts ever. I've probably watched this video like ten times, and its great every time!!
Only ten times? 😢😮
Good performance .. nailed it live
Pour moi le morceau le plus exceptionnel.. à mettre dans toutes les playlist.🎉🎉👋😀😁🥳🥳🌞
THAT IS MUSIC... PURE JAMMIN!!! 💯%
Instrumentals, phenomenal! And the vocals, they weren’t whining, they opened their mouths and sang.
Wow! What a performance. The musicianship is other-worldly. Crazy good. What a vibe. This was quite a line-up. These guys have always had a good line-up, no matter the changes. Each one brought something special. And in this one, Cornelius nailed down Tommy's vocal parts - spot on! His keys. His sax. Wow. Killer stuff from this legendary band.
DOOBIES LIVE PERFORMANCE... CLASSIC!!! 💯%
Classic example of good music
that must of been fun, a concert like that without 99.9% of people with cellphones recording instead of just enjoying. what a groove though, wow.
Amen
What a time that was !!!😂
One hundred percent, and better than you think it was back then. Time machine , PLEASE !!!
It was.
It was
From a musicial standpoint they may be one of the greatest bunch ever, certainely up there with Eagles , Almond Bros and Skinnard.....what talent.....far as guitar player's go they take no back seat to anyone.......there all unbelievable......
Oh my God do I miss those days!
