    Hi Suzanne:
    I’m so happy to find this tutorial. The way you cast on is soooo easy! I’ve struggled with this method until now. Even the cast on row looks a lot better than the way I was doing it. I will be checking out more of your videos if I get stuck. Thank you for your wonderful video. 💜😎

    Thank you so much for a very clear demonstration. Do you think it makes a difference whether you go under or over the yarn when starting your first stitch? Will it effect the look of the first stitch as to how you started? I keep trying different ways to make my join look the very best it can when knitting in the round. Thank you!

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  Před 4 lety

      I don't think it does, but the truth is in the pudding. Trying a variety of ways, as you are, is the best way to find your answer. Happy knitting.

    MERRY CHRISTMAS.
    Please may I know if you have time to do a video on a V neck sweater was well as picking up and knitting the middle stitch. I have watched other videos on CZcams but they are annoying.😬😬 For a 5min video there's at least 20min blabla and the tutorial is rushed. OR there's NO closeup and the knitting is too far from the camera. In fact they don't seem to be concerned about beginners Most of them are in Hindi...but I put it on mute no closeups either. Strain on the eyes.
    PLEASE SUZANNE, ONLY IF YOU HAVE THE TIME. Thanks a million for your help. Your fan from France.

    I have a question.. .i'm confused about cast on, because many do different way of cast on. But what I'm trying to understand it's that I saw a type of cast on that one can cast on stitches without involving the 'tail' . I have a pattern that says 'cast on 14 sts and leave a long tail for sewing". So I need to not 'use' the long tail, and cast on the stitches with the working yarn. I'm sure that once I saw someone to knit by using only the working yarn and not using the tail.. how can be done? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  Před 2 lety +1

      What you would do in this instance, is you would use a longer tail than usual so that there is tail leftover after the cast on stitches. You will want the tail at the side where the last cast on stitch is. There are many types of cast ons and they each have their plusses and minuses. The long tail cast on is the best for creating a nice bottom edge (or top, if you are working top down).

    Susanne ,,,,,, What is best yarns to make a sweater? I am a beginner and I need an advance ,,, please
    What do you think about lion brand pound of love , for a worm sweater..

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  Před 6 lety

      I love Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool for a sweater. It is 100% wool and will block very nicely. Blocking is a big part of making a nice looking sweater. Also, it is inexpensive and comes in giant skeins. Be sure to subscribe to my channel if you haven't already and share my videos with your social media groups. Thank you and happy knitting.

    Hello! I found you when I had lifted increases in a pattern I’m following. I’ve been knitting for a few years now, but I’ve only made baby blankets with no patterns, just plain ole knit and purl, using the drop method (yarn). I’ve been a very good crochet”r. I started when I was 5 and I’m 40+ years older now. So anyways,, to my question... when I started with this new pattern I found many videos on casting on, I looked because the old way takes too much time. Sadly I didn’t find you until farther down in my project. You have the tail of the yarn hanging down the front, or right of the needle, all the other videos I had found had it the other way. I see the it works both ways, what are the advantages for either way? This cast on would also count as a first row of knitted stitches in some cases, but does it change that if the yarn is casted on the way you’ve done? I’m sorry ... I’m rambling. Your videos are great!

    • @SuzanneBryan
      @SuzanneBryan  Před 4 lety +1

      This is the standard long tail cast on. But if you have the tail of the yarn over the finger rather than the thumb, you will get very similar results and it will not change the look or function of the cast on, you will be fine.
