Because they live in an equal status after conversion and the reservation has been granted the person deprived of equality in the society.
Once converted to Christian or Islam they dont have casteism then they dont need SC status . Thats the logic . You cannot have both . This is only for Hindu Lower castes lets be crisp and clear.

One error or clarification I would like to point out that the OBC & ST status to Muslims & Christians is not awarded as blanket. It differs from state to state. In states like Manipur, they get it but states like Maharashtra, they don't get.

Caste is not the only reason to convert. Spirituality and ideology is also important.

Two things. Rigveda does not say anything about caste, rather it says about Varna. Varna is not same as caste.
Second, the SC status in Hindu community is granted on the basis of historical wrongs which have been done to them as they were "untouchables/dalits".
Therefore, if someone has already converted from Hinduism to Islam/Christianity then they are no longer in Hindu fold. How can the government give SC status to someone who is a non-Hindu?

as far as discrimination is concerned, actual discrimination is being practiced today on economic grounds , which is far more draconian and injustice than what used to happen based on caste.
So, past ko sudharo mat. past se seekho and future ko sudharo..
If the economic status has not been improved then give them reservation in the basis of economic status because if it is based on cast system which does not exists in their region then how the world would react.
And if it is based on cast then it is possible that any wrong practices can be done. Another thing in each cases when reservation is provided the aim is to provide them a better economic opportunity, so why cast system is linked with it.
Another very important thing the cast and reservation system is killing our society when one General candidate needs above 90 percent to get the job the SC or ST candidate just need 30-40% of the marks to achieve the same job or post, So we are allowing a person with 1/3 of intelligence to get appointed. Then how this society can get benefit from this. When any private company hires they check the merit only, so that they can get more productive person in their workplace.

1.Reservation must be given once . Example ..
, if one person gets the govt job , then he and his family then onwards should not be eligible for reservation.
2. Reservation must be given to only those who belong to a certain category but below creamy layer ( based on income ).
3. Reservation must not be applicable for Higher post like IAS, ips, first class officer , grade 1 scale , PG or specialization in medical field ..and such other . These post must b filled based on merits.

1. Ved and upanishads doesn't procreate the caste system...as we can proof it through various upanishads.. like kath, niralamb upnishad.. even the vedanta promotes the idea of denying the very identity of a human being...how can it support the caste system..
2. I m not denying that discrimination had not been taken place...yesss it had it's own history...but the motive doesn't come from upanishads and vedas...
3. The idea of discrimination comes from an individual's mind...and the idea of proclaiming ourselves superior among others. We can see this even nowadays as well..today we discriminate on the basis of economy class isn't it..??? So can we say industrialization procreate or the source of discrimination...??

The simple solution is the religion based caste system should continue ro avoid people to convert into Islamic and Cheitianity religions.
