Venice Beach the Shark Tooth Capital of the World | Shark Tooth Hunting | Finding Sand dollars

- December 8th, 2021 we spent the morning at the Venice Fishing Pier hunting for shark teeth with our handy dandy shark sifters which I made last spring for our trip to Wilmington, North Carolina (to watch those videos, click the links below). We had heard that the beaches south of the Venice Jetty were ideal for shark tooth hunting and that Venice was known as "The Shark Tooth Capital of the World"; so we had to see for ourselves with hopes of finding a megalodon tooth. Lucky for us the water was extremely calm which made it ideal for shark tooth hunting. We also found a few other fossilized finds during this adventure.

Wow so beautiful and so hardworking host from YesNoMads
Nice treasure ❤😮
Yes it was!
If the sand dollars are dead, great find.
Do not take living Sand Dollars from their home. Let them be. The tourists come here and think it is okay to take them living. It is not...
Oh they were dead. I leave the living things alone.
Fantastic all the treasures you found.
Yes, now we just need to pick up some shadow boxes and figure out how to best display them
Cool travel video
This is a great channel! I only caught sight of you folks in recent times, but it’s now among my favorite channels

Might have to take the colander out on the road with me next time. 🤔
can't hurt, makes a nice hat during a lighting storm
Thats was fantastic thank you 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Must be satisfying to search and find
It is, I imagine that the satisfaction of the find is why magnet fishing has been so popular
@@Kayak7seas thats true, going under bridges is a hazard these days, at times its raining magnets😆
i would love some shark tooth
Just hoping one day to find a meg tooth
Good video
Thanks for the visit
You all are blessed with lovely weather. And I thought panning is only to find gold, at least that's the first thing that comes to mind. Nice, learned something new today!
Thanks 👍
Hi and thanks MaxD Expeditions for watching. You are right that the shark tooth hunting technique is similar to the gold panning. The difference is a tool that the wire mesh was used for a sand shifter. As we experience shark tooth hunting, we learned the texture and the shape of shark tooth fossils. It's a family-friendly project and also fun to identify shark tooth fossils afterward. 🦈🦷 Dropping by again every Thursday for a new video.
Proof that your shark tooth sieve works perfectly. Nice underwater shots as always.
it's funny how many people would come up to us thinking we were professional shark tooth hunters because of our sifters.
Venice beach! You’re in my neck of the woods now. I didn’t know so many shark teeth just sitting out there. I got a chuckle out of “Half a sand dollar, what’s that? 50 cents?” Lol.
You'll love it once you finally get down there.
The and dollar is such a nice treasure trove! So many of them! Great time!
Yes it was!
Hi and thanks, Explore Malaysia for watching. K7S is obsessed with "Sand Dollar" shells which are hard to find in a complete shape because its shell is very delicate and fragile. The water is stunningly pristine and fortunately no sea weeds floating. The blue sky, clear salt water, and my treasure...nothing to complain about. It was one of our enjoyable adventures. 🦈🦷
Just south of Veice beach is Englewood Beach has 3 beaches middle is where I found most of my olive shells and sharks teeth. Live there fir 18 years loved it there.
Thanks for the tips we'll have to check out that area
Never really thought about how gift shops got there shark teeth and sand dollars. Didn’t know panning for teeth was a thing. Pretty cool haul.
It's a very relaxing experience
Very cool finds! I am surprised that the teeth were black! I thought sharks only had white teeth. Loved the half-sand dollar comment. 😄
as they get older in age they tend to seep in colors from sediment. Being black is an indication they are quite old
Those teeth are black because they are fossilized. Up to millions of years old. They find some up to 6 inches long from prehistoric Megalodon sharks when diving just offshore
Wow, I never thought shark's teeth are black 😅, I thought it would big & white. Hehe. The water is so clear you could really see what'a underneath. Its my first time to see a sand dollar as well. Beautiful ❤️
The dark colors of a shark tooth fossil come from absorbing minerals found in the ground around them after they sit for years in the sand
Hi and thanks OBR Scenes for watching. Many sharks have layers of teeth called double teeth and If one of their teeth falls out, another spins forward from their rows and rows of backup teeth. As we experience shark tooth hunting, we learned their texture and their shapes of them. It's good for a family-friendly project. Dropping by again every Thursday for a new video.🦈🦷
They are black because they are fossilized and several million years old. Shark’s teeth are naturally off white
How are you doing my friend 👋🇬🇧
thanks for visiting
Fireman I was talkin to over the weekend said the pier is a real good spot what about caspersen Beach
Repent and trust in Jesus. Hes the only way. We deserve Hell because weve sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him.
