  • The latest version of the W6's comes 10 years after the ground breaking (in more ways than one!) W6v2. The new W6v3s are a significant improvement in terms of cosmetics, reliability and performance. It is hard to imagine an improvement on the v2's, but when you see and hear this amazing speaker you will, no doubt, appreciate the extra efforts our engineers put in!

    I just bought my first 12w6 last month. The sub I have always wanted and sold a bunch of other car audio gear to buy. It's 9 years after this video was made and this subwoofer is still one of the best out there. I would add another if I had the room.

    The W7AE is definitely our flagship speaker. It remains as our best overall subwoofer in many ways. The new W6v3 is pretty darn close to it. It does not have quite as much excursion as a comparable W7 but the fidelity is right there with the W7s. You asked how it "hits" compared to the W7 which leads me to believe you are looking for output. I'd go with a pair of W6v3s over a single W7. The price is similar and you can get more output without compromising quality.

      I still think the W6V1 is the best SOUNDING sub JL ever made. I wish you guys would rerelease it as a low excursion audiophile classic sub. Having said that I own 5 12w6v3s and it’s the best sounding JL sub since and would absolutely bury a V1 output wise if you care about that. I run 6 18w6s behind an acoustically transparent screen in a HT and I still think it’s the greatest sounding sub I’ve ever heard if you have the space. I was not a fan of the sound of the V2s but they were SO much better than the W7 I thought. Do a limited release on the W6V1s that started it all. Take my money!!!

    I do tend to use the W6 level product more often, but only because more often than not, budget limitations prevent the W7s from being used to their potential. These new W6v3's will really blur the line too because they are really remarkable how they sound. Well worth the wait.

    Now this is only my personal opinion,I don't know how Jl Audio is going to improve the w6v2s they are my favorite subs in the world! I have Three 13.5 w6v2s in my impala in a seal enclosure running off of the old school JL 1000/1 it bangs plays very low,I also have two sets of the 6.5 ZR components running off of a 450/4 everything is JL Audio apart from my Kenwood DDX Excelon DVD player,thanks jl audio still number one to me...

    @TheLPSJP: 500 watts is great on a single 10W6v3. The sealed enclosures will ship in June.
    @wopino: with the same amp, you may not see it get any louder, but the detail and extension will improve
    @overclockedHD: both the 10 and 12 inch versions are rated at 600 watts. The W6v3 is among the best woofers we have ever made. The TW5v2 gives similar sound, but in a much shallower speaker and smaller box. It will not play as loud as either of the W6v3s.

    Joseph, We are working on possible ported enclosures for the W6v3's now. We do extensive listening tests on all ported recommendations before moving forward. I know it sounds odd, but we don't rely solely on computer modeling. Hang in there. Ported boxes should be available in the not-too-distant future.

Right now I only have 2 of the enclosures hooked up to a fosgate 750.1 prime and it bangs like crazy. And before you ask why I bought 3 enclosures instead of just woofers, its because I got a great deal when I was at texas heat wave.

    Bdr2sc01: If the dual 10W3s are still working well, there may not be a reason to change. You could go with one of the new 12W6v3's if you wanted to. I am pretty certain it will fit and I know it will do great on the 500/1.
    For your doors, I would look at either the C5-570's or the C3-570's. Both products are very impressive. The C5 is a bit smoother overall (with a bit better midbass capability) while the C3s play a bit louder (I use C3-650's in my car FWIW).

      Question for JL Audio.... Will a w7 perform well in this box since it’s a little bit smaller than the w7 H.O box?

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  Před 3 lety

      No, the W7 would require more air space to allow it to play to full potential. Also, the mounting hole for a W7 is smaller than a W6v3, so you wouldn't be able to mount it to the W6v3 enclosure. Plus the weight could be too much for the W6v3 front plate anyway.

  • @MilGrip76
    @MilGrip76 Před 7 lety +2

    Seems JL now [2017] has the feature set others have had for what? 4-6 years? And at a much higher cost of ownership? Value doesn't seem to be there. 3.9dB gain with the V3 though, pretty substantial improvement.

  • @JLAudioInc
    @JLAudioInc  Před 11 lety

    The original "slash" amplifiers are iconic at this point. There are some technical differences between them and the other models we now offer (HD, XD and JX), but the Slash amps (now in version 3) remain one of our most feature-packed amplifiers (certainly for bass). The right amplifier would depend upon your overall needs. Email us at technical@jlaudio.com if you need help with your system design.

    • @JLAudioInc
      @JLAudioInc  Před 2 lety +1

      We provide a range depending upon the user and listening style. The yellow or optimal is the best compromise between power handling and output with most music material. The higher range approaching red is best for moderate listeners or for those that listen to a wide variety of music. You would have to be a bit careful with heavy content at high volume with power in the red zone.
