  • 60603 = 2 boxes = bolted frame version
    32879 = 3 boxes = welded, one-piece frame version = easier & faster to assemble
    Harbor Freight seems to have 3 SKUs for their 20 Ton H-Frame Floor Shop Press (32879, 60603 and 97022): the main difference is how the MAIN FRAME is supplied: the main frame for 32879 as shown in this video comes pre-assembled (welded) as one piece. This version eliminates the two straps/braces for the legs.
    This video shows SKU 32879; most videos on CZcams seem to be for SKU 60603. I am not sure what SKU 97022 looks like, or if it even exists.
    As of this posting (May 2021) this item isn't particularly easy to find, and is currently only available at a few Harbor Freight stores...and it sells out quickly!

    Great video straightforward and to the point. Thanks for the hardware upgrade info! I plan to pick one up soon and this helped a lot!
    Many thanks and keep up the great work!

    A Harbor freight manager told me they sell both models with the 2 different sku numbers, the reason they're different isn't because of a redesign,
    it has to do with 2 different manufacturers that have 2 different designs for the same press.

    What size are the bolts that go through the top plate for the Springs to hang on?

      I am not sure now. I changed some crappy M8 to Grade 8 3/8" and some M12 to Grade 8 1/2" --- I think those are the 3/8", but not 100% sure.

    How did you get the middle part in there that holds the plates? Mine won’t fit or slide in. It’s just too large.

      I just angled it and slid it in. Mine is actually too loose and I would prefer if it was at least 1/2" tighter.
      maybe yours is manufactured wrongly? Do you have a welded or bolted version of the main frame; I believe Harbor freight is still selling both versions.

      @@yesterdayfarm5273 . I have the welded version. Sounds like I either have the wrong parts or its manufactured wrong.

      @@MrSupernova111 Very strange, yes. Harbor Freight is good with returns/exchanges at least. Hope it's close to where you live.....can be a pain driving 80 miles just to exchange something that ought to have been right the first time!

      @@yesterdayfarm5273 .I figured it out. It was user error and I have it all assembled now. I talked to the store manager before I decided to give it another try and he was very accommodating as long as I returned/exchanged everything. I see why people do all kinds of modifications though. The unit seems very slippery to me.

      @@MrSupernova111 Great! Yeah, definitely needs some mods to make it work really well. #1 for me was welding a small wheel onto the jack's valve. #2 was some pins in the plates, so they don't slide off. I also changed the eye bolts to some that are load rated. Great tool that I now use much more than I had thought I would...
