  • How often do you clean your shower head? In this video I'll show you the easiest and most effective way to clean it!!
From time to time it's important to give your shower head a good cleaning as it can become laced with limescale, calcium buildup and nasty gunk in general.
    Here's what to do:
Fill up a small bag with distilled white vinegar, submerge the shower head down into the vinegar filled bag. Next, secure the bag in place with a rubber band. All the shower head to soak in the vinegar for 2 hours. This will give the vinegar time to loosen up and eat away all the mineral buildup.
After the 2 hours are over remove the bag, wash off the shower head and you're done. It should look as good as new!!

CLR does the same as the vinegar but in about 20 minutes. Also twist ties are probably easier than trying to double up a rubber band. Good video, no BS intro, no clickbait, no "like, share, and subscribe please, cuz I'm desperate for monies", just good quality advice. Thank you!

@@SuwinTzi With about a teaspoon of baking soda and just enough water to make a paste with an old tooth brush work it into the shower head. wait a few minutes and then use a cup with just enough vinegar to submerge the shower head. don't be startled if you see form come flowing over the cup. Hold it there for a minute or two. Then while flushing it clean scrub it with the bush. Slow draining sink? I do somewhat the same thing. This time add about a tablespoon of baking soda no need to wait then add about a 1/2 cup of vinegar. Then when it starts to fizzle down add some more vinegar. Wait a couple of minutes and flush with hot water. I have never try this on a clogged drain. You will be surprised at how well this works.

A lot of modern shower heads have rubber nozzles on the ends, so you can simply reach up with your bare hand and sort of forcefully rub at it, like you're trying to wipe a stain off something. Do it while the shower is running. The limescale build up in the rubber nozzles will crumble and be expelled by the water.
If you let it get as bad as the one in the video of course you'll need to use chemicals, but if you just reach up with your hand every time you take a shower and make a point to give the showerhead a quick wipedown, you'll never have to.

Thanks, the Molen head unscrews so no need to keep a baggie like that. Also, CLR does a great job. In addition to the head, the aerators likely need to be demineralized. I did all our faucets and the water pressure was vastly improved. Lastly, most Molen faucets have a proprietary way to remove the aerators, they require a special key. However, sink faucets like this one does not have a key that allows one to remove and clean the aerator. I found out from a neighbor that Molen will send out the kitchen sink faucet head and aerators for bathroom sinks for free!

Cleaning tips here in the UK appear obsessed with adding bicarbonate of/baking soda powder to the vinegar to make a paste, totally ignoring the chemistry.

I wish I knew this two weeks ago. Shortly after showering, I developed the acute onset of an allergic dermatitis. Not being an allergy type person, I had to go thru a Process of Elimination checklist that took 2 weeks! Only to find out it was the shower head! I purchased it 5 years ago. I always sprayed the outside with a bathroom cleaner when cleaning the shower stall. Never thought to disinfect the inside of it. After seeing this video, I took it off and bought a new one. The painful rashes disappeared within a few days. My shower head will get disinfected every 6 months whether it needs it or not!

White vinegar is also awesome for cleaning the soap scum and hard water stains off glass shower doors

I use a toothbrush with Lysol spray. After scrubbing clean, I take a large plastic cup filled with water and submerge the shower head. It only takes about 1 minute.

Good idea, I bought a new one but it’s not as wide, I didn’t want to use CLR bc it would ruin the cheap plastic. 👍🏼

Vinegar has been one of the most handy things I've discovered. It's like liquid duct tape! It's a good general cleaner (I mix it with dawn and essential oils), a good laundry booster/fabric softener, and I even drink it (ACV with the mother intact) in my tea now for my health and it's making a difference.
Edit: I'm a Southerner also and was used to ice tea. It took me a while to get used to hot tea but I did and now it's great.

I've seen a video somewhere explaining how drinking a glass of water mixed with a bit of vinegar before consuming sugary products can help with the following glucose spike

    • @HAL-dm1eh
      @HAL-dm1eh Před rokem +5

@@franqusco Studies show that is in fact the case. I just stopped drinking it though because I got cavities pop up recently. I don't know if it was that or my increase of eating raisins, but I stopped them both. I suspect it was the raisins, as the vinegar was diluted in the tea.
Most of the benefits I was getting from ACV had to do with digestion and it stimulating me to produce more stomach acid, which cured all kinds of stuff. You can take a Betaine HCL pill for that, so that's what I'm doing now.

Does the vinegar hurt the exterior look of the kitchen faucet or a shower head?

Great hack video. To the point. I use a 4-5' velcro strap, the kind that are used to secure items in their packaging, to keep the plastic bag in place. Much easier than trying to double up the rubber band.

Please do a video on how to deep clean and reconnect the garbage disposal in your shower. The latch hasp isn't even connected to the main drainage line on my Clarkman.

Is there any reward or penalty for using stronger vinegar? It can be purchased at 15%, 30% or 45% acidity versus 5% for normal distilled white vinegar.
