Ahh, the memories. :"] I remember finding this unironically emotional years ago, despite being _very_ aware that it's supposed to be a comical parody. But it is actually kinda sad in it's own way, because it was the end of a funny (personally on of my fav) season that created many wonderful memories. Not to mention, their temporarily "deaths" paired with the bittersweet and melancholic song also made quite the dramatic impact. It also really had this sense of feeling of two "beloved" individuals accepting their final, impending doom, ultimately perishing together. Yeah, it's definitely not wrong to say that the set-up was kind of melancholic.
