I've watched this in its entirety 3 times now. I find this fascinating. He really comes with the honesty that at times makes this feel like a therapy session. Levine makes repeated references to all the research he did on Rider but he's a shit interviewer and missed so many opportunities to engage with Rider on the many interesting things he was saying. I wanted him to follow up on points but he completely let them go or didn't get it at all. Rider is a really interesting guy and I could listen to him talk about things all day. You can make a really good living selling scripts/screenplays that don't go anywhere but I hope something hits for him soon because I want more opportunities to see him interviewed like this. I hope he doesn't recede into the background to just write and direct. I, for one, would miss his perspective on current events, be it politics, culture, the state of the business,

I’m not quite so sure either but I believe it was season 1. That season was blocked out of my mind for a long time because I really didn’t get into this show until like the 4th season. I had watched some episodes sporadically in the third season and I remember this show being on in the background at one of my best friend’s houses before that but that was it. Also when the show entered syndication especially on ABC Family (now Freeform) they didn’t yet have the rights to the first season. After the last episode aired they started the series again from Cory and Shawn’s first day of high school. This show to me has two starting points, the first or second season. A person can start either place and be fine. The only difference is Minkus was only in the first season and I remember he made a one episode return when everyone was getting ready to graduate from high school and he and Topanga were battling it out for valedictorian. The audience and cast made a big deal of his return and at the time I was so confused as to why but now I know. After a short time all the networks that aired this show in syndication were also allowed to show the first season which IMO was pretty terrible although not as terrible as the latter half of the final season, mostly due in part to Eric getting turned into an utterly horrible buffoon.

I don't think Rider notice at all that he just ran his fingers through his hair and his hair short. I hope that writer get this absolutely great acting job that he picked. Look, I grew up with TGIF and it's nice to see an articulate child actor who didn't crash and burn...but Rider Strong needs to get a grip. I think, no matter if they escape the "crash and burn," child actors' world view is forever warped. 1) Acting isn't "hard." Sure, it can be challenging to do well, but coal mining is hard. Getting 5X your hourly rate to do overtime is easy. Maybe if he gets more involved in political activism, it will expand his perspective. 2) He wants to avoid being a "public figure"? Dude, this kid could walk down the street in this major American city where I live and no one would recognize him. 3) You're telling me after seven years of being in the cast of a successful major network show, he's not financially independent? Again, this is a warped perspective on what being financial solvent means. How many of millions of dollars do you need to be able to pick your projects?

I should have perhaps reiterated at the end what I said in the beginning of my comment...which is that I think a young person going through his formative years in that environment would struggle to develop a realistic world view...
