Nice video
Thanks !
Today sucks without her
it was always a pleasure to be on that ship..... 90 minutes to holyhead.. now it's 3.half hours... miss the hss
Excellent video she’s looking well in Yalova being cleaned regularly she’s even under her own generators.
Thanks, that's good to hear :)
Thank you ! :)
What I don’t understand is that there are ships in service today constructed in the 1970/80s .These vessels were constructed in the mid-late 90s and now they are scrapped.
Yeah I don't get that myself. What a waste !
@@irelandbloke It might be safety reasons, we will never know.
Very interesting to see
Thanks :)
I wonder how long this great vessel will last on this route. Great video
Thank you :)

Nice video! I had always wanted to try out the HSS since I read about it many years ago. I finally got that chance a few years ago to travel on Stena Voyager round trip Stranraer - Belfast. I wonder how the HSS performance and economics compare to one of the more recent GT fast ferries, namely Buquebus Francisco from Incat and using the same LM2500 GT.
+Joseph Wong Probably far inferior to the modern ships I suspect !
The HSS was brilliant! Favourite Stena Line boat by far as I have been on all on them, the HSS was the one I was on all the time since it went from Belfast to Stranraer, well used to so I was on it a lot going to Scotland, I don't know where it goes now but I was sad to see it leave
Yeah it's a shame that she's gone :(
This ship was a monster! It is the size of a small-med cruiser yet capable of 50knots and covered moderately rough seas. Nothing competed technology wise! Admittedly not my favourite ship (my favourite are the superfast X and the Oscar Wilde), but I was still very sad to see it go! I guess it was just too thirsty...
Indeed she was, I'm just glad I had a few trips on her ! :)
irelandbloke I'm glad I did too.
Ps. Thanks for documenting this ship with these videos! Tis a great contribution to the history records.
You're very welcome, thanks for watching !
Incat leaves all others in their wake. A far better boat, bigger and faster.
muito bom
R.I.P. HSS
Superb video .. Ive been on 2 hss's before .. stena hss discovery( i think .. was only a little child lol in a car) and on the hss voyager in a lorry .. but sadly the the discovery and the voyager have been sold on .. as far as i know the voyager has been sold to a called FerryMar .. where there based i do not know .. its sad to see the voyager and the discovery go but at least theve kept the explorer .. For now anyway .. lol
Thank you. I haven't heard anything but I suspect her days are numbered :(
very nice video
Thank you, I expect the Explorer won't last too much longer on this route either. I hope I'm wrong though :(
i stand to be corrected but i thought the hss was more like 1500 tonne!! if i remember correctly what it used to say on the hss model box! anyone????
HSS 1500 is the model name but they weigh just under 20 thousand tonnes :)
thats alot of aluminium lol.....great video
lol Thanks a lot :)
Probably more like 12-15 tonnes

Stena explorer good ferry
I think this ferry is here in curacao for more than 6 month's now
That's the HSS Discovery. I think the HSS Explorer is moored in Holyhead at the moment :)
Just saying now that the IoM Steam Packet co.
Own the biggest fast ferry on the Irish seas
if i remember rightshe was docked in holyhead for a good few month about 2 or 3 years ago looked in real bad shape
That rings a bell alright
to get to the loading ramp at the ships you had to drive around explorer to get there every time i passed her she looked bad and there was noone ever working on it so i dont know what the problem was
Stena ferry ha?
Could this be used to cross the Atlantic?
I think the Atlantic would be far to rough for this type of ship
Only if you choose your days very carefully
The other one did it as a one off and broke the record
But the routes i was on was Belfast - Stranraer
Aha actually just checked with my parents as i say i was only a little baby and couldnt remeber wat boat .. ive been on the explorer in 2003 and voyager in maby 2010/11 not sure but wasnt long ago
is this fast ?
+jean Not when its docking. It travels at 40 knots in open water.
Ho viaggiato su questa nave da Holynhead a Dublino
