    Rust never sleeps. Here in Ottawa Canada, we use huge amounts of salt on the roads so we have lots of experience with rusty cars. The lesson is that it is NEVER worthwhile to fix any rust. The problem is not what you can see. It is what you can't see, and it is always far, far worse.

    The GMT800 platform definitely was GM's finest work in the 1/2 ton truck category. My parents just recently sold their '03 Chevy Avalanche and it still drove great. As an unlucky owner of a '21 Silverado 1500 that shares its time 50/50 between our garage and dealership service department, I can definitely say they are a shadow of what they used to build 20 years ago and I can't wait to sell it. • @Philip_J_Hill
      @Philip_J_Hill Před 2 lety +1

      It depends. Like others have said, the simple phrase of "sold as is", can kill any chances of getting money back. For private sellers, if they forget that important phrase, than its a civil matter so you can take them to court. Which can be expensive, but depending how much money in involved you can take them to small claims court. (where you most likely will not need a lawyer, some states do not even allow lawyers for small claims cases) Small claims varies place to place tho, in my city its max monetary value is 12k, while others can max out at 2k. But its significantly cheaper than a full court case/trial type of deal. SCC is usually under $1000 total in costs. (depending on your area and court system ofc)

      @@Philip_J_Hill In some states "as is" isn't the end....if they purposely did things to hide issues and you could prove say they knew the engine was shot and didn't divulge it to you. (like if they purposely put 50W oil in the engine to quiet it down). If the seller knows of an issue they have to, by law, tell you.
      One way to prove they knew about an issue is if they had an estimate from a local garage that told them it needed an engine, they doctored it, sold it to you and a week later the engine is shot.
      I live in a small town and a co-worker bought a used car from a local honda dealer...literally 2 weeks later the engine seized. The dealer said "you refused the extended warranty, TFB" well, when the Mayor, lawyers, and local newspaper got involved, the dealer gave them their money back.
