Kiwi here, nothing but huge respect for JS. He's fundamentally changed Irish rugby, they're well on the map, still a force to be reckoned with, and his team won a series here in NZ which is no small thing. He and this team might've bowed out in the QF, but that felt like a final. Huge respect to Ireland, you'll be back.

Right, you can be so proud even if this new exit in quarter final is cruel! I think that was the best match i've ever seen in terms of intensity, clearness, smartness and strategy from both teams... i almost held my breath for 80 minutes. That final action was insane, portrayed so well the fighting spirit of the irish team, but Lady Luck was smiling on the All blacks tonight!
However nothing can erase what the irish team have done during the last years, they remain a top team, constantly in progress.
Thank you for the wonderful entertainment tonight!

So proud of our team and management - sport can be cruel. I’m feeling the hurt. Johnny, you have been amazing! Your legacy stretches broader than a trophy lift. Your qualities as a player and a person are exemplary! I hope you’ll play a part in Irelands rugby team future. Already you’ve helped grow the self belief in younger players to dream big which will pay dividends in time!
Thank you for giving your all to the nation and the sacrifices you made to dream big and bring out the best in others.
This end is just a new beginning. ☘️ Ádh mór Johnny 🇮🇪 - Laoch sa gheansaí glas 💚☘️🇮🇪

What a fantastic show and thank you to both teams who were so evenly matched. The phase play on both sides was a show of experience and ability and the final score could have gone either way. One the day NZ took it but Ireland were amazing so theres absolutly nothing to be sad about and there can only be one winner in the end. From a Springbok supporter.

Sadly for all of us who love them, they just can't seem to get across the line at this level. This tournament was there for them, they will never get another chance like this, and I actually think if this was some other tournament with the same teams other than the world cup they would win it.
