My brother is working as a SBI po.......and he tells me like it's a sales man job type thing....the RM will put so much pressure on you to increase the loans to achieve a loan target which is not even possible if people are not wanting to take the loan how will u give it to them.....so he says he has to put pressure on his juniors for this.....and they will always threaten u with bad postings and low reviews for your further promotion.....and most of the seniors will never talk to you in a good way they will always be ready to scold u....coz they release their senior's frustration on u.......the only good thing is they can't remove u from your post coz it's a government job but they can degrade your ranking for sure.... otherwise it's similar to private sector work culture

Sir, it is a personal decision. If you want adventure in your life, you can opt for MBA. If you want peace and stability and don't want to explore, it is better to stick to the institution and try for promotion. Respected Sir, you will have better knowledge than me with respect to this. It is just my personal opinion.

Yes, having 10 customers in one day in such a big problem. OMG! Such a huge problem. Govt jobs handle 100 customers per day and yet 10 customers of pvt job is bigger problem.
That totally depends on what you are referring to. Because Engineers if they work harder, they can enter into divisions where disruptive work happens. Nothing of that sort happens in the nationalized indian retail banks. If you can get into product based companies, the salary can reach 40-50 LPA in no time.
SBI PO or any bank's PO job is boring, it is slightly better than being a clerk. Don't club everything as "Private". A person who's working at Microsoft or Google is not the same as someone working at infosys.

Pressure is okay. But setting impossible targets while providing minimal resources with total accountability on your head is a different ball game. I think all the aspirants need to research on the kind of work environment they are getting themselves into.
Dekho bhai... IIM ka 16-20 lpa job ka in hand salary 70-90k hai per month.. and you need to pay emi of atleast 35-40k to repay the loan (exception will be there if your father is a crorepati)... So sbi po is far far better than iims for a middle class boy/girl.

3-4 saal mai wo loan khatam ho sakta hai and unki job profile pr ye cheej matter ni karti. 3-4 years mai unka package kaha se kaha ponch jata hai.
you are so delusional IIM >>> SBI PO in every category. in top IIMs average salary is 30LPA, average inhand salary is around 2L per month in starting stages itself in IIM A, B, C, and the corporate companies have good work culture, you get to stay in city for lifetime. PS: i am not an MBA/IIM person.
Having witnessed both the sides.. I have worked in a consultancy firm KPMG for 2 yrs and my sister is a PO at SBI... Literally the allowances she gets is CRAZY... So someone leaving sbi for monetary terms is bs... Plus for the first 2 years, you earn just by going to your office that's it.. Meanwhile in my job the work pressure is always there.. Though wfh is good.. But still sbi is way way better...
Even I have a good salary.. A bit more than hers.. But u will realize sooner or later that Peace Of Mind.. Is the only important thing you need... I eagerly waited for my salary in the my 1st month only.. After that u don't have time to check your balance...

Remember company provides you a laptop for a reason... Plust main reason being job security.. But yeah every job has its pros and cons.. CAT exam is much harder than SBI PO. Also, you'll need to give interview and have a great profile to get final admission in IIM. Plus you need to study the MBA course and get decent grade to land a job. 1st reason is extremely invalid.
Do you have any idea about the selection process and course fees of the top IIMs?
CAT isn't alone everything.
It's just a part of your selection process.
Depending upon the institution, it may vary around 20%-50% in the final selection.
Rest is regarding your academics, extra-curriculars, work-ex, WAT and GDPI.
You need to have very strong academics like 95%+ in 10th and 12th and 90% in Graduation.
Minimum 2 yrs of work ex in a top MNC.
A lot of extra-curriculars like Sports, Arts at national level or state level.
Your performance in GDPI and WAT should be top notch.
Even if you are selected after getting through the grind, you have to pay more than 25 lakhs for 2 years.
I think 95% of your audience won't have such profile and money to get into top 5 IIMs.
And if you are a general engineer, it's way tough for you to get into an IIM as you won't be receiving academic diversity and gender diversity points.
So contemplate a lot before commencing.

10th 12th ka 75% wait hai Indore ke liye.

First one should take experience as a bank po then if he/she does MBA from premiere colleges believe me things will change a lot.

It is not a 9-5 job. Banking in public sector banks is more complex than that. If you are an officer you are expected to manage work ranging from a pts to the branch manager. There are no fixed working hours defined for an officer.

Sir many people on quora say that after 2 year probation as SBI PO, they have to sell Life Insurance products and meet sales targets regarding which they are constantly getting pressurised. Being an SBI PO aspirant, I would highly appreciate if you can tell if SBI PO is all about sales? If yes, then kindly tell what's the procedure for sales ? Like does one need to call the customers on their mobile number or what? Please reply
Actually, retail banking is all about sales. We are competing with the top notch banks such as HDFC and ICICI. Life Insurance products are good for long term. There is a target and many people cannot do so. We are hired based on merit and not on basis how we can sell. Sales is a technique which you can only realise when you will go out to sell. So there is no hard and fast rule. Above all, SBI PO is not only sales. It is more than that. Sales is just a part. Targets are there for everything including loans. There is no need to worry.

12 hours?? What nonsense. At the PO level you may have to work up to 10 hours but once you become branch manager you can leave at 5 . It's how you manage. People even leave IAS

So if you want to do for Self Satisfaction/ Bank PG Incentive, then go for it, but If you want knowledge, then Quit SBI & go for MBA from IIM. Once you passed from IIM, you don't need SBI, you were earning 10 times the salary compared to SBI Personnel near to retirement.
