SYNOPSIS
Through the eyes of a young girl suffering from mental illness, CALDERA glimpses into a world of psychosis and explores a world of ambiguous reality and the nature of life and death.
DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
CALDERA is inspired by my father's struggle with schizoaffective disorder. In states of delusion, my father has danced on the rings of Saturn, spoken with angels, and fled from his demons. He has lived both a fantastical and haunting life, but one that's invisible to the most of us. In our differing understanding of reality, we blindly mandate his medication, assimilate him to our marginalizing culture, and entirely misinterpret him for all he is worth. CALDERA aims to not only venerate my father, but all brilliant minds forged in the haunted depths of psychosis.

HISTORY
CALDERA was helmed by Evan Viera (Director/Composer/Co-Writer) and Chris Bishop (Co-writer/Animation Supervisor/Story Artist) and was produced at Hampshire College. CALDERA was the first film to go through the Bit Films Incubator Program, where founder and professor Chris Perry (co-producer/editor) invites orphaned independent films to be made on campus with the College's students and resources. MANY students and industry professionals generously donated their time to the making of this film. See below for the full credits list.

best song and best album from pink floyd.this song was my anthem in 1980,i was a senior in high school on my way to parris island after graduation.i was so messed up trying to get comfortably numb.im 57 now and sober 11 years.all of my partying i never found comfortably numb.no happy medium.all the way or nothing.thank you pink floyd,you carried me a long way.f,,,ed up or sober.my adult kids love this album and im sure they have tried to be comfortably numb once or twice but they are so glad dad didnt find it.god bless all those still trying

Que som é esse! Lembro-me quando em 1985 vi The Wall numa vitrine de loja de discos no Terminal da Lapa, em SSA, e o comprei. Quando cheguei em casa e escutei, nada era mais como antes, algo mudou em mim e esse som me fez viajar até hoje.
Bravo ....jovem.É FANTÁSTICO INESQUECIVEL.

I've been listening to Pink Floyd for the past 18 years. I've heard a lot of bands in the past n none of them hv scored m as much as the fantastic Pink Floyd. I'll spend the rest of my life listening n enjoying this sound. Thx for the incredible animation n audio.

I have been listening to this band since I was in high school. I am now 59 years old. "Comfortably numb" is one of those that simply speaks to people on so many levels. It is beyond time and space. Even now, all these many decades after I still listen, it is as if I have entered a magic time machine and somehow been looped all those years back. Truly the gift of superb art!

The more and more I listen to this because this is absolutely amazing. Right at the 7:09 marker when she shuts her eyes, and the guitar just goes up, its like omg, i don't know why but the guitar just does the part so well
@Boeingfan727 I don't know how old you are but you should know that this music is more than 40 years old and the "cartoon" is a modern visual interpretation - so its the "eye closing" that fits the music expressively, not the other way around. Just saying.
Really never gathered that..... The cartoon never was made for the song either, it was a short film just on the off chance you didnt know either. Im very familiar with Pink Floyd and how old their music is. I think you may have misinterpreted the comment otherwise you wouldn't be commenting in the first place. I gather you may not be that old either but that has nothing to do with anything in relevance but just pointing that out while we are here. Understandably words across the world can truly be better understood if spoken physically so I get you may be confused with what I'm trying to get across. Long story short the part where the eyes shut fits well with the song and vice versa considering neither were made for each other or in the same decade for that matter. Clever editing on the video poster here. Anyhow not sure if you here for the music but thanks for educating the world. Carry on.

Dont you just love this band this song - Timeless -my sons are nearly 20 , I'm 66 so I have been listening to this song for 46 years more than double their life!! They will be so privelaged if they can find a song that can do the same for them and maybe they will understand my passion for Pink Floyd !!

I am lucky to have seen Roger Waters back in July 2012 at Fenway Park in Boston. That was one hell of a show. I am 40. Ha ha.
I’m 46 now. My parents took me to see them when I was twelve.... they are now in their 70’s. Pure timeless beautiful.... absolute class. I will never grow out of them!
