The main problem with all the added CGI to the original trilogy is that the additions stand out a mile away. The original effects blended in well as they were made with the technology of the time, film grain and all. The new CGI is too clean to be able to fit in with the rest of the original footage.

@@jkplays7485 “over 15 years ago” cannot justify all of these bad CGI moments in Star Wars because they looked bad for their time(s). While Episode 3 looked nice, episodes 1 and 2 had very mixed CGI; some look decent, some look awful (especially in Episode 1). Prior to 1999 (when Episode 1 came out), movies like Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, The Crow, and Titanic already came out, all of which still look fantastic. Also, The Matrix had a 1999 release and it looks way better than Episodes 1 and 2. Two years later, Fellowship of the Ring came out.

CGI wasn’t used to make the original Star Wars trilogy. They were all done with practical effects. CGI didn’t gain serious ground until after the original trilogy was released. Lucas rendered them with CGI 20 years later once they were finally available.
Movies should remain products of their time. Rendering the classics with modern CGI only detract from their quality.
