Fits with how all Saitama's attacks did was destroy, but Popeye's attacks in a way gave life to Saitama.

You know a lot of people were quite surprised by this finale since Galactus vs Unicron was what everyone expected.
But boy did DB deliver on this matchup... It was just beautiful.

Most people I heard wanted Saitama to face captain underpants more but this was still great if that match did happen Saitama would still lose and you could have captain underpants being joyed about this fight as well

Those seconds where it's all calm and Saitama is smiling, finally happy to get a fight that he wanted for so long was so good. It kind of made me tear up. It was just so good.

The soundtrack was the icing on the amazing cake that was the animation. It was top quality and had a ton of humor and spirit.

It was amazing. Honestly easily one of their best. Analysis, jokes, fight, explanation.
Very in character moments like Popeye not knowing Kanji and misusing it for Spinach.
Boy this fight made for a great finale. And the OST follows suit perfectly.
Everyone (or at least everyone not biased) knew that Popeye would win that battle and they played on that perfectly by making it as good as possible and of course by adding the final bit where Saitama is reflecting on the fact that he's actually having a *serious battle.*
If I had a single complaint, it's that the fight was too short and that I wish it didn't finish right after Saitama's thoughts but it was so good that it totally makes up for it and the ending was great too.
Popeye, even with all his cartoon physics and logic was still stunned for some time before getting up which shows that it was at least somewhat of a tough fight for him even with all his broken powers. And that I really liked because, even as someone who's not a fan of OPM and that's never seen or read OPM, it felt like they still respected Saitama and even if he lost he was clearly the "protagonist" of this fight.
As for the music itself, it also perfectly sells the scale and the feeling of the fight. It's epic yet uplifting for the most part except for Saitama's thought "speech" part where it's almost emotional. Clearly one of my favorite Death Battle tracks in general, which only makes sense for a combination of Brandon Yates and Therewolf Media. They really managed to make almost only great songs for that second half of the season. Almost only top tier tracks.
Amazing to the Death Battle team and also thank you for posting all those Extended Versions of the songs, of course.

Luis Balbuena indeed it is, but it’s such a good fight that you’d want more from it.
Kinda like when a movie or series you watched and liked ends, you wish that it was longer even if it already was plenty long.
I do apologize if it came of as if the battle was « too short » in the sense that there wasn’t enough in it.
The animators clearly had a blast putting this together. And I had a blast watching it.

16 episodes for season 8 and 5 walk out as some of the best death battles we've ever gotten. Yeah there were better ones but these 5 will stand at the top with many other episodes.

That's all I got really. Saitama got what he wanted. A real fight but he remained a joke even against a joke opponent. Unfortunately, only one joke can win.

Mob vs. Tatsumaki:This whole destruction happened all because Mob mistaken Tatsumaki as a middle schooler.Still a great battle between One's psyhics.But I'm still mad that Tatsumaki erased sweet boy Mob from existence.
Genos vs. War Machine:Not my favorite hand drawn fight (this honestly should've been a sprite fight while Danny vs. Jake should've been hand drawn.) but it's a pretty good fight between the two cyber sidekicks.Also Genos trying to kill War Machine but failing is kinda like that one scene from Goku vs. Superman 2 expect it's funny and not notorious.

That episode is a masterpiece and this is the cherry on top. I wish every episode of DB had that amount of effort put into it.

this part of the music is where my heart was starting to have the feels and my back having chills,
this moment had lots of feels,
this gives it that Saitama is finally happy feeling and he gets a real fight after all this time,
but it also has that hopeless and sad feeling as well,
like this was something he couldn't escape from, or like he never stood a chance, like he was doomed
it also gave me that what I would think type of feel,
like we were supposed to cheer and root for Saitama,
even tho he had no way of winning,
which is why even tho I knew Popeye would win,
I felt scared for Saitama and cheered for him,
I didn't want to see him lose, I felt really sad when Saitama lost,
this episode pretty much as weird as this may sound, to me, it gave it that:
"when the villain is too much and there is nothing the hero can do about it" type feel, like its the true end of the World
this music gives that happy and hopelessness feeling which makes this one of the best and most emotional music ever!
to me in this battle,

I think it's good. Except, I don't view Popeye as the villain, I don't view either of them as a villain in this, actually. It was just a fight between two heavy hitters, and both enjoyed the hell out of it till the final punch was thrown

One of the best tracks in all death battle, one of the best fights in death battle
This episode is not only the best of the season for me, but also my second favorite finale of the series. If they had just treated this episode more like a finale, it would have easily been above Goku vs Superman in that regard.
But this was such a masterpiece of an episode. I was afraid they wouldn’t top Dio vs Alucard or Goku Black vs Reverse Flash, but they did it in spades. I love this episode so much.
Am I the only one to question on how Devilartemis found or created a 3d model for Popeye.

Gotta love how the music also represents the whole fight itself. It started like a pretty standard rock music, intense but still not that pumping and really reminescent of OPM's soundtrack signifying Saitama's usual boredom at anything even fights. It's almost like Saitama is telling that he's gonna finish it in one punch like he usually.
However, later on, the music turns into an 8-bit tune, really putting emphasis on Popeye himself with the tune also being his theme. The retro style soundtrack is obviously to represent that Popeye really is an old character that existed in a long time. But for me, I believe it also could represent that Saitama is slowly beginning to realise that he's not fighting any normal opponent and THAT POPEYE is actually making him try.
Then the music goes back to the rock style but even more intense, really putting on the fact that Saitama is realising the extent of Popeye's power with the choir in the background representing the grandiosity of the bout and how Saitama acknowledges and admires Popeye's unrelenting power.
At the end, the music takes a somber tone, a break of all that heart-pumping fiststicuff as Saitama drowns himself in his thoughts, finally living his life-long dream of finding someone that could make him feel alive again and with a tear in his eyes and the music coming to a close, with guitars more power than ever, it comes to an abrupt conclusion just like Saitama's life...

Loved this battle
My only real issue was that there wasn't much after Saitama realised he was having a real fight, which kinda sucked. I wish there was a moment of him having genuine fun against Popeye, before finally getting overwhelmed. Otherwise, it's amazing and I love this episode.
The real question is would Popeye cook his Saitama egg or hatch him into a new Saitama?
Probably hatch him because Bluto always come back from getting the snot beat out of him
What if he hatched Saitama and turned him into more eggs and hatched more Saitamas that became more eggs like a One Punch Man farm to make an army that will destroy everything in existence
