Temperature, heart rate and blood pressure while smoking a cigarette

- While smoking a cigarette temperature, blood pressure and pulse change. Here, the heart rate increased by about 20%, the temperature on the hand dropped by about one degree and the blood pressure increased. The drop in temperature and the increase in blood pressure are due to the contraction of the blood vessles which are well known facts and have been first documented over 100 years ago (Bruce, 1909).

Quit smoking 2. leave the coffee alone.3. Stop consuming so much sweets 4. Get a 30 minute walk in a day. Guaranteed In 30 days your life will change
Phenomenal video by the way. Very well done.
Fabulous demonstration
May i ask when the MG of the cigarettes was 1MG only, will the blood pressure going high too?
Thank you verry much
This is fascinating. I did not expect temperature to continue to decline after 10 min mark.
Damn, that's a sacrifice for science!
My resting heart rate was 100 to 115 after quitting it's 65 to 75 when I drink coffee I have 80 to 86 and I do alot of sports so it just getting better and better
So u recomend to quit cigarette and coffee?
@@LevanBibilashvili I think he recommends to quit cigarettes and start doing sports if you're resting heart rate is high
@@LevanBibilashvili Cafeine in coffee and energy drinks can increase heart rate but it also makes you burn calories faster. The best thing for your heart is to quit both buth if you want to burn fat you might want to keep some coffee. But ultimatly both have to go if you want to be the healthiest
88-92
Without cigs and coffee its 72
Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
Maximum and minimum heart rate? Also you should do an update video :)
What about cigars and pipe tobacco?
Now this is some sexy ass science. Never wanted to be a cig so bad 😅
Is that normal for a pulse above 100 when smoking?
What was your maximum and minimum heart rate during this experiment?
I wish they would answer!
Hello, mam my pulse rate is 161 but there is no effect or tell in the body.
What?! 161?...
i wonder if it would be the same with chewing tobacco i failed my test for my job.. i was a dummy and forgot to take the chewing tobacco out of my mouth.. i got a 170 when it had to be 160 or less
Tobacco causes rise in BP whether you smoke or chew it will rise ur BP
I thought average bp was 120/80. Im jealous.
Just like the average BMI is +28...
But the (typically) healthy BMI is 18-24 (typically set at 21)...
That's also understanding the fact, that depending on the person, a person may actually be at their healthiest, while in the lower/higher categories.
It's very complex & not realistically described within these metrics, especially if simplified to merely a single measure & even worse, if minimized to limited idealized ranges of any metric, especially any single metric.
Realistically, my normal & at the time best case for my body/health, my blood pressure fluctuates from 50/30 to 220/180 in moments.
That's just the tip of the iceberg, for me (but for most, they will be about to die with such results). It's normal for electric sensors/monitors to not be able to see me & insist I'm dead.
Medical staff have to use analog meters on me, to have any hope of anything remotely accurate or meaningful for me.
On the other hand, at that point, I had just about every single possible test on the health of my heart/cardiac system imaginable & just about all were perfectly healthy.
Even the ones that showed problems, showed that I was still (at that point, as health as I could hope to be). I was active, fit, in good physical condition, at the peak of my physical capacity, etc.
If I had stressed about the results or been given any medication for it, odds are I would have been harmed more by such, then the actual underlying issues.
The benefits were that I was informed, could become educated about it & make the best choices possible about it/my future health.
While every case is different, typically such situations are not rare & it's important to weight these matters carefully. Each person is unique & needs to carefully assess their particular circumstances properly with the help of the appropriate medical professionals.
I would like to see the same study but with a "vape" or "ecig" type device!
That's a great idea!
Me too! My mother quit smoking using an ecig. She would have died that month if she didn't stop. She lived one and a half years more. I miss her so badly but I'm glad I got the extra time with her.
That much more cancer in the body. Wow.
Ive smoked for about 4 years and my normal heart rate is around 70 - 80 bpm but when I smoke its around 140 - 150 bpm. Should I be worried?
I'd recommend visiting your GP and tell him/her about it. We are no medics but biomedical engineers so better you check with your GP.
uh yeah. how about quitting smoking
That increased heart rate is absolutely not good, without any high intensity workout. Please see a GP, and quit smoking ASAP.
Yes. You'll be on blood pressure tablets soon, and once on, it's hard to get off. Plus atherosclerosis. And strokes. Quit.
I want to stop smoking because of this and can this cause ( ed)
Why does cigarette(heat source) cause the blood to lose temperature?
Blood vessels narrowing so less blood flow I think
cool
I'm a smoker of 30 years, yet my resting heart rate ranges from 66 to 70, with an avg bp of 112/60.
David Adams yeah but have you ever taken your blood pressure heart rate right after smoking a cigarette you have extreme spikes in your heart rate and blood pressure which can damage over time
TheCambra I believe you. In no way does smoking's harmful effects not catch up to one. The shortest time between smoking and taking my bp has been a matter of three to five minutes. I just found it odd to still have an optimal resting heart rate. My goal is to quit within the year.
David Adams I smoke every once in awhile my resting blood pressure is 110 over 70 pulse of 60. if I smoke a cigarette take my blood pressure immediately after it's 140 over 90 with a pulse of 85
TheCambra Yikes! I'm going to try it and see how mine spikes.
David Adams but my heart rate weird I have what's called a sinus arrhythmia I could be sitting there and my heart rate will go from 60 to 70 to 85 back down to 61. it never stays the same it always changes
do the same test with vape
Same or maybe even worse if you use juul, nicotine is the main factor affecting the heart rate coz it narrows the blood vessels
Who smokes that fast 😂
Nice demonstration. I went out for smoke after this haha 😂😂
Congratulations junkie !
an specific software?
+Carlos F Can Medina comedirecord for the recording and ffmpeg for the screen capture -- al done under Linux.
Hey wats the heart rate for 25 year old smoker
170/110
I guess the whole point was (atleast what viewers expect) is to observe the negative effects. Firstly ur not a true smoker so the body behaves differently to first-time toxins than it does to regular smokers. You should have continued to 20/25 minutes to show how readings got to/towards normal. Then O2 level went up ! Why ? Is that the side-effect of taking more conscious breaths while smoking ?
Net result - i didn't see any value in this experiment. Sorry
Hello Sanjay. Can you share more medical points about the statements you mentioned above? also if possible can you share link to research papers on the same
no, it isnt. The primary intention was to demonstrate the difference electrical vs non electrical bio-signal
You smoked too fast
It was a time lapse over 15 minutes
You seem slow
What was your maximum and minimum heart rate during this experiment?
+TexXxaSHxC before the cigarette 80-90bpm, while smoking 90-115 approx.
So it cud go 115 while smoking cigarettes?
@@BPMbiosignals how should it be up or down . Don’t understand the blood pressure?
