Temperature, heart rate and blood pressure while smoking a cigarette

  • While smoking a cigarette temperature, blood pressure and pulse change. Here, the heart rate increased by about 20%, the temperature on the hand dropped by about one degree and the blood pressure increased. The drop in temperature and the increase in blood pressure are due to the contraction of the blood vessles which are well known facts and have been first documented over 100 years ago (Bruce, 1909).

      Just like the average BMI is +28...
      But the (typically) healthy BMI is 18-24 (typically set at 21)...
      That's also understanding the fact, that depending on the person, a person may actually be at their healthiest, while in the lower/higher categories.
      It's very complex & not realistically described within these metrics, especially if simplified to merely a single measure & even worse, if minimized to limited idealized ranges of any metric, especially any single metric.
      Realistically, my normal & at the time best case for my body/health, my blood pressure fluctuates from 50/30 to 220/180 in moments.
      That's just the tip of the iceberg, for me (but for most, they will be about to die with such results). It's normal for electric sensors/monitors to not be able to see me & insist I'm dead.
      Medical staff have to use analog meters on me, to have any hope of anything remotely accurate or meaningful for me.
      On the other hand, at that point, I had just about every single possible test on the health of my heart/cardiac system imaginable & just about all were perfectly healthy.
      Even the ones that showed problems, showed that I was still (at that point, as health as I could hope to be). I was active, fit, in good physical condition, at the peak of my physical capacity, etc.
      If I had stressed about the results or been given any medication for it, odds are I would have been harmed more by such, then the actual underlying issues.
      The benefits were that I was informed, could become educated about it & make the best choices possible about it/my future health.
      While every case is different, typically such situations are not rare & it's important to weight these matters carefully. Each person is unique & needs to carefully assess their particular circumstances properly with the help of the appropriate medical professionals.

    • @davidadams2395
      @davidadams2395 Před 7 lety +4

      TheCambra I believe you. In no way does smoking's harmful effects not catch up to one. The shortest time between smoking and taking my bp has been a matter of three to five minutes. I just found it odd to still have an optimal resting heart rate. My goal is to quit within the year.

    I guess the whole point was (atleast what viewers expect) is to observe the negative effects. Firstly ur not a true smoker so the body behaves differently to first-time toxins than it does to regular smokers. You should have continued to 20/25 minutes to show how readings got to/towards normal. Then O2 level went up ! Why ? Is that the side-effect of taking more conscious breaths while smoking ?
    Net result - i didn't see any value in this experiment. Sorry
