I remember hitting that mark with our truck. We hit it and ran 😂. I had to same issuer trying to detach the hitch cover. I bet it’s the same. Your truck tows like a dream. I love suv towing. I love the Hideout too.

We tow our 26' 6300lb (actual cat scale weight with normal camping gear load) Micro Lite with our 2019 Expedition Limited on many occasions. It has the Max Tow and Max Cargo packages. Like yours it is rated to tow 9300lbs, but more importantly it has a payload capacity of 1530lbs. Our actual loaded tongue weight for the trailer is about 850lbs. So that leaves us with around 680lbs of load capacity in the Expedition for passengers and gear. So it works well for us. I certainly wouldn't tow anything bigger with it. We had a 2010 Eddie Bauer Expedition with the 5.4 Triton V8 and the tow package. The 2019 with the 3.5 Ecoboost and the 10 speed tows it better, but the towing mpg is not as good and the fuel tank is smaller. Also, the receiver on the newer Expedition is only rated for 930lbs. Still we are really comfortable towing with it.

I tow my 27 footer with either my 08 Eddie Bauer Expedition with a tuned 5.4L or with my 15 Expedition Max with the 3.5L Ecoboost. I am sitting at 7,200LBS when loaded up and the old 5.4L is working, that Ecoboost wants to go with more weight.

Have the 21 Limited max with Max trailer. I’m thinking of getting a 32 footer in length and about the GVWR of about 8000. Do you think the length would be an issue? I know you said this towed smooth but that was on a 24 footer right?
As long as GRVW is 9300 I think should be good to go.

No not with this expedition. We actually sold it for another truck
Your hitch should be set up a bit lower, you don't wana have your trailer higher in the front, will also avoid having the rear of your trailer scratch the concrete while puling out of some gas station.
That’s great feedback. We ended up going with the Suburban Duramax. Has airbags and toes way better not to mention 11.5/mpg

So how much did that trailer weigh in this video? I been debating a full size SUV like this for my next vehicle but I want to be able to tow with it also.
Good question we should have talked about that. 8500 lbs is what that trailer weights.
We specifically bought this for our 2nd tow vehicle being that it goes 9300 lbs
We are considering an Expedition MAX with tow package, and we really like the Grand Designs Imagine. Have you towed your Imagine with your Expedition yet? If so, how did it go? I'm concerned about being so close on weight, we have 2 adults, 2 young kids, 3 dogs, and whatever weight in luggage to take into account on vehicle weight, which eats into the tow capacity.
Hi David so our thought process is in line with yours. The Grand Design is a bit heavier and would lean on my Duramax for those deliveries. If we got in a pinch we would deliver it but as of this point we have no experience with the Expedition delivering the max. I would probably not fill the fresh water tank and have it completely empty before we set out to deliver. It’s for sure pushing the limits 😬

It's certainly not the 9,300lbs Ford tow rating, I was thinking the real ceiling for a trailer weight is around 7,000lbs, but wanted to know what your actual experience has been. Just because Ford says it can tow 9,300lbs doesn't mean that it should tow that much weight, and safety becomes a major factor, like stopping power and trailer sway. @@davidbrown1914 yeah for us and my opinion I think realistic is 8000-8500 lbs. Our trailer brakes work great on our hideout. The technical package is pretty awesome on the expedition which I was pleasantly surprised.

Do you guys experience any sag in the expedition with that weight? If so, are you looking into ways to reduce that?
Yes we did. We had multiple hitches and once we got the right height and evened it out it worked out great

Hey guys! I am planning on buying a camper for my family within the next year, so right now we are in the market for a new vehicle. We have been looking at the Expedition. After a year of towing your campers in this vehicle, what are your thoughts? I am getting mixed feedback on the safety of towing with an SUV like this. Thanks in advance!
I wouldn’t do it. If your going to get a vehicle for hauling a camper get some sort of truck with the right GVWR for your camper. This had terrible gas mileage, the tow capacity was ok but only could tow our smaller units. We ultimately traded this in for a bigger truck.

We used a different hitch that wasn’t set for this vehicle or rv. We have bought a new one and set it to this vehicle
And no drop hitch was not upside down

Not sure
I've looked quite a bit and have seen nothing on the Ford site mentioning airbags/ride height compensation in any option package.
What’s the mpg towing the camper?
This was about 15mpg
How far did y’all go and what did y’all average on MPG?
About 78 miles and about 7-9 MPG not real good

You probably know this already, but never, EVER tow more than 80% of the tow rating of a vehicle. It is rated at 9300lbs in good conditions, but wind, rain, old brakes, sway, etc. harm its real world abilities. The real max towing would be around 7400lbs. Any more than that and you should get an F250
