Have you encountered this problem before?
My machine keeps moving after I lift my finger off the keyboard, it happens randomly on Y and X, rarely on Z(luckily) and only when jogging with the keyboard (both on slow rate and fast-shift key)
    Never on a g-code.
    Checked:
    Windows Sticky keys off
    Different computers (win10)
    Different keyboard (wired and wireless)
    Reinstalled mach3
    Oparation: Windows 10
I'm lost, the only thing I can think of now is to move it to XP

Back in 2013 I decided to get involved in the CNC game purely for personal reasons and hobby use to run a CNC mill,so I bought a desktop Win7 computer on the 'Bay for A$50 but from day one it wouldn't work.....the 64 bit problem etc.........eventually with the help of the guys on CNC Zone it was diagnosed as the 64 bit syndrome so I bought an old Verizon computer running XP 32 bit which is all Mach 3 needs to be happy and a 24" monitor too for A$100 on EBAY...........the Verizon computer is the size of an A4 sheet of copy paper and stands upright next to the CNC mill cabinet.......I prefer the computer with separate monitor as opposed to a laptop as the monitor has a bigger screen for the price and can be placed easier on a jointed arm etc.

You could run any 32 bits versions of Windows on a 64bits PC, tho you'd have to install your OS in BIOS (or CSM) mode. Finding 32bits versions of Windows 10 ISOs should be easy

Nice work Roger, a quick question; I haev just changed my PC to a newish one with a windows 10 46Bits and no parallel port, does that mean I won't be able to use my CNC as before? what do I have to do to get it to work with the 64 bits ? Cheers for the great help

    I have a 2 year old I9 64bit motherboard running Windows 11
Working with Mach3 and Mach3 USB card.
Can you explain how that is possible?

Hi, this is what Newfangled Solutions say about Mach 3 and windows 10 64-bit
Like many in the CNC community, we and our customers have been affected by the Windows 10 (64bit), version 1803 update issue that leaves the Mach3 application unable to completely load (after profile selection, the splash screen will render and then disappear as the application crashes). We've investigated the cause and developed a provisional patch to the Mach3 (version 3.043.062) application binary that has demonstrated effectiveness in resolving the issue. We are working together with the Mach development team to further validate this patch as they work to deliver an official release in the near future.

I have a 1 year old AMD Ryzen 12 core (24 thread) windows 10 and Mach3 runs fine. My windows7 laptop is in the garage and works on Mach3 to control my machine. That uses ethernet connection not printer port or USB so I'm confused ? ? ? ? ?

The only people that get confused about this are the old guys... I'm one but figured out the problem back in the day... But they have separate CNC controller cards so this compatibility problem is only for people trying to use Machs native parallel port off an old motherboard. Mach 3 company used to be run by like 1 1/2 dudes so I think they lost interest and don't want to support Mach 3 with other controller boards... Guess the half dude split and made Mach 4 for this.

Mach 3 "now works" on any computer! But if you used Mach 3 in the past you needed a parallel port (DB25-old printer port). You could run all your pinouts directly from the computer to your stepper motors, limit switches, and main motor (no plc needed) minus power. About the time Windows 8-up came out most computer motherboards no longer come with a (DB-25) so your only option was to add a PCI DB-25 expansion card. Your CNC control board was the computer. But nowadays there are (control cards) that run Mach 3 out of the USB or Network port. If I remember correctly all this started to change a little after the smothsteeper came out. So hopefully you will update your video as this is the True reason at some point lots of people had problems or get confused as to what Mach works on or not.

    • @Magestyx1
      @Magestyx1 Před rokem +1

Please elaborate. What do you mean by "now works" in quotations? I'm getting Mach3 to open fine and the interface works fine on Win10x64, but I just found out today that it won't work with my Gecko G540 over a Win10x64>USB>DB25>G540 connection. (I understand the USB/DB25 adapter is a no-go under any circumstances now.) Its my understanding after all the research today which ultimately led me to this video, that even if I get a parallel port card so it's Win10x64>PCIe/LPT>DB25>G540 it won't work because the OS is still 64bit. However, some say a motion controller like Win10x64>USB>UC100>DB25>G540 will work with Mach3, but according to this video it absolutely conclusively won't ever as long as the OS is 64bit. This video is only a month old - but you're saying it's already out of date? Did something change this recently that'd help my situation? I'm still confused here. Are you saying the lattermost combo I mentioned here WILL work ok? Please be specific as possible. Thank you.

@@Magestyx1 I mean "now works" because there was a period (windows 7 time) where all the controller cards that existed used parallel ports to connect to the computer. This is when everyone was having problems with new versions of windows 7 64bit. I believe this mostly because, at the same time, motherboards were coming out that no longer had parallel ports directly on them. Because of this, there started to be a lack of the correct PP Drivers. Some expansion PP cards worked some would not ... That being said controllers at this same time started to come out like the smooth stepper that used "ethernet" (network plug) to connect to the computer that had specific drivers for Mach3 now made it work with any version of windows. The bottom line this guy knows a lot of stuff but I can assure you I understand more about this than he does. YES, I know for a fact the Last option will work Win 10/64bit USB/UC100/G540... The UC line is the ONLY USB converter I believe works as it was specifically designed because of the problems people were having in the past. Nowadays the only way to go if you purchase new controllers is a Network ethernet plug.. Let me know how it goes.. If you need help let me know.
