    It's a shame Patrice never got to see John Wick.

    • @Doomreb
      @Doomreb Před 7 lety +32

      +CardiganSnoopy, I have a feeling he would have felt the same way I felt about it. It's awesome but I wish he shot his guns more loosely like an action movie should. He's way too tactical. He never shoots from the hip or anything. EVery gun right up against his nose like he needs the sight. Even when he was moving as fast as possible in the club part. Awesome movie though. Haven't seen John Wick 2 yet.

    • @CardiganSnoopy
      @CardiganSnoopy Před 7 lety +46

      I see where you're coming from but at what point does novelty methods of style define a good standard of action genre? The reason I enjoyed the film was due to it's accuracy. The amount of training and efficiency behind that film just allowed the viewer to enjoy the narrative and the scenes without being open to blatant criticism like a backflip off an exploding car whilst holding two machine guns and shooting every bad guy in the process of doing so.
      Then again, Patrice was critiquing Keanu's acting as opposed to the films themselves but I enjoy his style, its very solitary and reserved with the rare flair of exuberance in small doses.

    • @Doomreb
      @Doomreb Před 7 lety +3

      +CardiganSnoopy, Absolutely. Don't get me wrong, I loved it. Just something that could've added a bit more to the action. I think even a masterpiece like Die Hard would lose a bit of 'umph' with people if he never shot from the hip and was calculated like a properly trained SWAT member. Believe me that didn't ruin anything for me. I can look past a ton of minor things. Just my thoughts.

    • @CardiganSnoopy
      @CardiganSnoopy Před 7 lety +6

      Oh definitely, when we're talking about Die Hard, it's arguably one of the best action movies of all time! I was thinking of referring to it but with 25 years between the two titles, it'd be difficult for me to make a justified comparison between the two.
      Willis' cool guy persona mixed with McClane's witty remarks and Kamen's exciting action score just made that film amazing for me.

    • @frankgonzales3742
      @frankgonzales3742 Před 7 lety +15

      Doomreb I always felt like that outrageous accuracy and professionalism was kind of the point of the John wick character though. he's an unstoppable killing machine who has a kind of mythical reputation. He's not really supposed to seem human, that's why they call him the Boogeyman. it's kind of like watching a force of nature or being told the legend of John wick secondhand by one of the assassins.
      to have him shoot from the hip or otherwise act carelessly and maybe fuck up from time to time would ruin the mystique imo

    These guys missed a trick never doing any Mystery Science Theatre style screenings of movies. To hear all three of them watching these movies together with at least 2 of them never having seen them would have been comedy gold.
    And by 'all three' I mean Patrice O'Neal, Anthony Cumia and Jim Norton.
    They talked about Twister enough that you can actually watch the movie with them in the background but obviously it doesn't sync up well.

    Jesus, opie just brings so much hate on himself by just being phony, whenever a movie is brought up, he says oh that was....waits for people with opinions to speak and take their side, listen to any clip where they talk movies, he never has an opinion untill it's told to him, best example is batman returns/begins.
