One of their most unique ideas was the Coprion bell, a copper bell created using an electroplating process, that was utilized in a number of trombone models including the 12H small bore tenor. That's another amazing review in general, but If you're interested in buying a vintage trombone, I recommend trying it out before purchasing it. Everyone has their own preferences, and what works for someone else might not work for you. Personally, I own a copper vintage Conn 12H trombone from the same era, exactly like this one! I find that it suits me well when I choose to use it, and I don't need to adjust my air stream when playing it, even though I regularly play with a bigger bore. So, let me give my two cents.
Despite its relatively small 7'' bell size, it projects a warm sound in the low register and resonates well across all registers. It's not difficult to play and doesn't require much energy, but your experience may vary. It is all individual guys.
Fortunately, the inner slide of my trombone is in excellent condition and glides smoothly, with not even one bit of corrosion. The slide is 10/10.
The Conn 12H, on the other hand, remains focused and its construction is durable. When things were built to last, and it is not heavy. Believe me, I have a left wrist problem ( motorcycle accident ) and I've hit it several times by accident and it doesn't dent easily. It has saved me a lot of money compared with other brands that just by looking at them the brass could bend. lol. ( kidding :). It's relatively light but also sturdy.
In comparison to other bigger vintage trombones I own, such as the Olds Recording, F-attach, plus a 547 larger bore, this Conn 12H stands out like David against Goliath. It doesn't recognize its size. lol
Now, it's true you might need to adjust your left hand to avoid pinching, but it's not a major issue depending on your hands' size. See, on every new trombone you buy you might always have to accommodate something until you get used to it. I know a big fella who uses a glove on his left hand with his King 2b, (same as 12H ) others need nothing.
I've played live gigs with this trombone for various genres, including Top 40, Motown, and salsa music, where the monitor didn't work well and you might need to overblow to be heard.
My Conn 12H remained focused in these situations thanks to its unique Coprion copper design.
Overall, in my opinion, the Conn 12H is a great choice for playing jazz standards and soft ballads in a trio or playing as the first trombone at a Latin party. It amplifies your skills, and personality, making it a versatile instrument.

Great video! This was actually my first trombone in elementary/middle school band! I got back from Massachusetts's for my appointment with S. E Shires, and decided on the Q30GA, AMAZING quality instruments!

what’s the name of the song after the scale?
You sounded better on the 4H Special. It was more of a commercial sound. The 12H might be better for brass quintet literature if you found like minded associates. Do you know if you played the 4H Special on a 7C? What is the difference between a 7C and Shires MD? Do you have specific reasons for using one or the other? Thanks for another good video.
