Everyone's already mentioned the legend Bo Diddly but the old man with the young woman who comes in to watch, and bet on, the game about halfway through the video is none other than Willie Mosconi, one of the greatest pool players of all time.
Just from this video alone we’ve learned of two more icons! How cool
Yeah he was good. But nobody is/was as good as Efren Reyes. That guy made so many shots that look like they would be in a trick shot video during competition. I know there isn’t good video footage to compare the two, but I still think we were lucky to get to see the mastery and instinctiveness (
@@RobSquadReactions The song takes from another icon, Muddy Waters and his song "Mannish Boy", which you should also check out. Also check out more George Thorogood - "Who Do You Love," "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," you'll love them.
I believe the picture inside the guitar case is legendary pool player Minnesota Fats, so there's another icon.
Edited to say: I was wrong, why are people still liking this comment? 😂
@@Wungolioth No, that's a young Bo Diddly
Now you are getting into real rock and roll. The black guy with the square guitar in the pool hall is Bo Diddly a blues legend and George Thorogood’s hero.
Very cool cameo in a very cool video for a very cool song!
The old pool hall hustler who laid the money on the rack is I think Willy Mossconi and I'm not sure how to spell his last name!!! Back in the day he and Minnesota Fats were pool Gods! I hope that my words find you and yours blessed and doing well!!!
Bo Knows. ....
@@alexcontreras9936 like I said he was a blues legend.
@@jamesgamble5071 mosconi
That opening guitar lick is universally used in movies for "stuff is about the go down"
Two of my favorites are in CHRISTINE when the car is coming down the assembly line, and Married With Children when Al Bundy is getting ready to barbecue.
It was Al Bundy's (Married With Children) call to arms theme song. Whenever Al would get on his muscle and get ready to "solve the problem the old fashioned way" the producers of the show would over-dub the video with the opening bars of this song.
Terminator 2.
When Al Bundy eats spicy Mexican food to get his bathroom back….classic!!!!😈
Megamind
You guys are positively my favorite reaction people. And rob Don't ever let her go Cause she is absolutely adorable
Yrs we love amber
☺️
Couldnt agree more, I love these kids Ihope that they cherish eachother Id love them for neighbors🤣🤣🤣
RSR Family, you'll love his "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", "Who Do You Love" and "Move It On Over". Great guitar player!! Saw him in concert 11/20/82. Great show! Studio versions of songs sound better!! Amber, their song "Kids From Philly" is mostly a sax solo.
George Thorogood. ORIGINAL! No one does what he does. Hard Rock added to Blues. It just kicks ASS.
Yes yes yes
I saw back in 82 also He opened for Rick Springfield. Georges' show kicked ass.Springfield sucked
@@EdwardVodika Springfield and Thorogood? LOL! That's one strange concert pairing.
If you react to the song One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer please do the live one it is so good!!!!
The older guy he's playing pool with is Bo Diddley, one of the absolute greatest and earliest rockers. He was rocking his guitar in 1955 and in a 1973 live video here on CZcams his footwork is even more awesome than Chuck Berry's ever was, in my opinion anyway. Who Do You Love (which is a pun on Hoodoo You, Love), Mona, and Bo Diddley are a few of his best. Who else made a hit song named after themselves? Gear Jammer is another great George Thorogood song, and One Bourbon, One Scotch and One Beer is indispensable.
Yep Bo Didley so great, toured lots saw him in Sydney Australia once
Did you catch Willie Mosconi? My husband, who played lots of pool growing up in the early 50's idolized him. He is the older man who comes in and watches. Bo Diddley was a good catch. Still remember Bo, you don't know Diddley! Love that commercial!!
@@ellenguillory4477 It took a little bit, but Yes! I hadn't thought of Willie Mosconi in forever. Thanks for a trip down nostalgia lane.
Bo was the Man.
Saw him open for CCR in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1970
the guy shooting against George is Bo Diddley and the old guy with the hot chick is the great Willie Mosconi
Yes, two Icons of a bygone era.
I liked the iconic Buick Grand National introduction to the press using this song.
@@galeaiken3841 The Grand National has nothing on my 1958 Plymouth fury, My son in law has a Grand National My fury has won 25 more awards than his Grand National has. Not taking anything away from his car but it will never top mine.
@@p.j.morris633 Quicker, faster, more reliable, better fuel economy while having better performance better air conditioning, better daily drive ability while still running high 11 second 1/4miles. Alot of awards from the drag strip thank you Stinnett Racing, High Torque Racing auto body for paint. And mine is a daily driver unless hail or snow. And I drove off showroom floor in December of 1987.
I do appreciate the Fury as I'm a car freak besides being a freak in general lol.
But it ain't got nothing on my Buick, I like anything with a "cool factor " so I like the old Furys. +my dad had 57 4door 3 on tree fun car.
“Bad to the Bone” is an AMAZING, TIMELESS classic. One of the great joys in Life, is watching the movie “Terminator 2” and Arnold walks out of the bar…the camera focuses on his boot as he starts to walk down the steps….”Bad to the Bone” starts. Perfection.
George wrote this but he also covered a lot of classic gritty blues and boogie songs. To his credit, he often brought the original artist on stage with him and in dune cases gave their new life after they had been ripped off by unscrupulous agents and producers in their hay day. He had been both a student and reviver of a lot of classic stuff.
And he's still a down to earth guy from Delaware who owns a minor league baseball team there, The Delaware Destroyers.
Thanks for the Awesome update!
He even name drops "Bo Diddley" in this song
@@lipby that's Bo Diddley playing pool with him in the video. The older gentleman who came in and made the bet was Willie Mosconi a true legend of the pool world.
@@frankhamp1396 yup!
George (and his band) is a perfect example of old school, down and dirty rock. Check out "Who Do You Love," "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," and "Move it On Over," for sure.
And if you've ever seen the movie "Christine" from the 80s (based on the Stephen King book) this is the intro song.
Fine set of suggestions to introduce them to "Lonesome George". The only thing I'd say is they should also check out John Lee Hooker's version of "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer". Hooker's version is technicall a cover as well, but I think it's the definitive Blues version. Cheers! Rock on🤘😎☮️
@@JimiBurleigh They will have to precede it with John Lee's "House Rent Boogie" to match George's version. George's song mashes both together!
For me, when i hear this song I always see Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2 when he steps out dressed in the biker clothes
Move it On Over is an old Hank Williams Sr. tune.
Good suggestions, I would add I Drink Alone
I have seen him 6 times. No pyro. No fancy gizmos. Just George and the Delaware Destroyers. And his voice. And guitar. I love the fact that he's so down to earth and plays an homage to the greats that came before him.
It's true, they just get up on stage and do it. I saw him three times in the UK
My daughter, upon hearing this song for the first time at the wise old age of 3, declared this was her song. It has always been her favorite song.
"Who Do You Love" and "I Drink Alone" are musts. "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" is the epitome of a storytelling song which I know you'll love Jay.
Another MUST for you two is the song "Frankenstein" by The Edgar Winter Group. It is all instrumental so you can just enjoy the music and not have to decipher any lyrics. It has everything you will both love including more saxophone.
I agree I drink alone is a ultimate must to listen too
Yes, Yes, Yes! Even women turn this song up in the car! The other pool player is Bo Diddley (blues royalty) You need to now listen to Muddy Waters "Mannish Boy" so you'll see the influence for this song.
But it means something different to us ladies😘
First time I saw George Thorogood & the Delaware Destroyers he was a warm up act for the Rolling Stones
George Thorogood rips it down the spine. Like no other.
Gotta love that blues musician Bo Didley stars as the other pool player. The boxing promoter /money guy (w/ the younger woman) is pool legend Willie Mosconi who was the main technical adviser for the 1961 movie "The Hustler" and stand-in for the actors (particularly Paul Newman) in the tougher pool shots.
There’s been a Willy Mosconj sighting!! I hadn’t seen this video in… well I have no idea how long, but I remembered Bo & Willy in the pool hall with Lonesome George! This song was also the theme song for the movie Christine, added in Stephen King’s book about a possessed car. Very entertaining movie. And the song fits perfectly as Christine’s theme.
GT and the Destroyers did hang in seedy pool halls and bars. That is where they got their start performing. Lots of touring out of the back of a van, covered all the states one time. GT would not tour in the summer time as he played semi pro baseball and that was as important as his music.
The "old guy" is none other than the famous Bo Diddley, check out his rectangle guitar, Bo's trademark.
I believe the old guy who put the money down on the racked balls was Willie Mosconi, one of the great pool players ever. I met willie in 1977 and got a chance to shoot a game or two with him.
50 States in 50 Dates! That's some serious touring!
Back in the day we called George's voice a "Whiskey Growel". Very distinct, and in a class all it's own. PEACE!!!!!
I saw George in a small venue back in the 90's and he was so good and so loud! Awesome show!
Live version of “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” is a must see with Elvin Bishop!!!
Absolutely the best video of that song ever !!......lots of George personality in that one !!
And with Elvin Bishop the song "Fooled Around and Fell In Love" sung by an amazing vocalist.
I don't know. I prefer more 'ten beers out and a scotch when safely arrived at home'.
Yes! GT was on my list for you all. "I Drink Alone", "Get A Haircut", "One Scotch One Bourbon One Beer", "Who Do You Love", "Move It On Over" are some other great tracks!
Agree! They're all genuine 'bangers'...lots of very 'cool' tunes.
Another confirmed vote for each of the above! Definitely someone to get to know... Awesome reaction! As for his voice, it's attitude, grit, whiskey and smoking... lol

George was SO good live!
Watching Amber reacting to this but also enjoying being right about the b-b-b-b-b-bad is everything.
Makes me feel 100 years old, but I remember playing this tune on the juke box at a pool hall. Moe's to be exact. I was in high school. This stuff still makes me smile. These guys are blues players, but they give it a good rock and roll edge as well. They do a cover of House Rent Boogie and One Bourbon, one scotch, one beer. Both are originally by John Lee Hooker but George Thorogood released a version of both together. It smokes. It's just called one bourbon one scotch one beer. That and move it on over are a must!
oh damn I didn't know that was a cover. I was going to suggest that song too.
He has so many incredible songs. I love both of those, but I was going to suggest Who Do You Love? tho I love Gear Jammer from my years as a truck driver.
👏 👏 👏 👏
So nice to see someone give credit to John Lee Hooker!
"THE HEALER " album by JLH has collaborations with various artists like Carlos Santana, Los Lobos, Bonnie Raitt, and is a great introduction to his music for anyone new to the genre.
Peace and love to everyone this holiday season. 🙏 💕
This is a great riff.
Blues rocker who has done a ton of touring.
He had one tour in which he played all 50 states in 50 days.
Try I Drink Alone, his cover of John Lee Hooker's One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer, or his cover of Hank William's Move it On Over.
Yes Please to all 3!
Love Move It On Over!
Chris with the master list as usual
@@itsmedino Hey Dino. I saw George open for ZZ Top many years ago.
@@chriso6719 duuuude that would be a show
George Thorogood played at my college in 1984 (JMU) and there was nearly a riot, the show rocked so hard.
I saw these Guys-GEORGE THOROUGHGOOD AND THE DELAWARE DESTROYERS-in a little venue that seated maybe 1000 people max-(SRO) and they rocked the hell out of us! The drummer seemed never to stop playing like they just segued from song to song. One of THE greatest performances I had the pleasure of being at!!! Rock me Amadeus!!!
Another band with a gritty-voiced singer is Blood Sweat and Tears and they have a healthy catalog of songs: "And When I Die" "Spinning Wheel" "You Made Me So Very Happy" "Go Down Gamblin'" "Lucretia Mac Evil." Go Down Gamblin' even has a TUBA solo! Gotta dive in there!!!
Oh yeah!
I would agree and add that Amber would love the great horn section of BS&T. Spinning Wheel was their biggest hit, but I think you should begin with Go Down Gambling or Lucretia MacEvil.
The old guy in the pool hall is Bo Diddley- who was one of the early pioneers of rock and roll. If you like gritty voices- try Omar and the Howlers- Hard Times In The Land Of Plenty.
Yep, the Bo Diddley beat.
Yes Bo Diddley
Haven't heard Omar in several decades!
LOVE Omar and the Howlers!!
I love the way you two bridge cultures. I love your enthusiasm, and real appreciation of what is now "the classics". Just great.
George is one of my all-time favourite concerts... 1980, in a small pub in Tasmania, overcrowded to buggery... and George played for 3 and a half hours without a break. He connected with everyone there - and showed us what blues and rock could do to a young fella's soul.
Definitely a rabbit hole to go down. He's fantastic and still touring and killing it live. Fun fact - He's from Delaware and I live a few miles from where he grew up and went to high school. Listen to "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" for a good story. Also "I Drink Alone", "Move It On Over", "Who Do You Love" and "Get a Haircut". Great singer, guitarist and storyteller!
I totally agree with you Bob, you picked my favorites
Great picks.
Yeah we always called them The Delaware Destroyers...
Yo! Smyrna Delaware here!
@@dianecomly6132 North Wilmington, Concord High School area here!
Bad to the Bone is based on Mannish Boy by Muddy Waters. The riff and lyrics are very similar.
Mannish Boy has influenced so many other songs.
Love mannish boy!
I have so much fun with you guys. I'm 73 and I spend a lot of time alone so hearing my music and watching your reactions is priceless.
The best...his voice, the music and words YES!!! I play the album weekly! Video great too!
I agree with many of the other comments here: “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” came right to mind if you guys have never heard it. Great song, solid story, and killer riff and solo.
Aka " the house rent blues"
"That don't confront me!" 😂
OhYEAH!!🍹🥃🍺Love me some George Thorogood🎸
good John lee hooker song!!! or at least based on it!!
Heart attack and vine too
This is one of those songs that even if you aren't a fan of rock, you can't help but like it. As far as pool goes, it still exists. My cousin's ex plays in tournaments.
My ex plays in tournaments...pool and darts. I guarantee they probably have pool hall or two where they live
Saw Grorge and the Delaware Destroyers years ago inside a tent at the So. Fla. Fairgrounds. Unbeleivble show and the Sax player was out of this world.
I am alone this year for the holidays and your reactions are just a great way to spend some time not thinking about missing the ones I love. Love y'all!!!
George Thorogood is great! You should hear his cover of the Hank Williams classic Move It On Over.
I Drink Alone, One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer, The Haircut Song, and Gear Jammer are more great tunes from George.
I never knew it was a cover song. He so owns that song.
Get a haircut! My dad would always sing this song when I told him I needed a haircut.
Pool, Darts, Horseshoes, and Bowling...All vastly underappreciated in this day and age (i.e., sports you can play while drinking and not being overly athletic). I guess I could throw in axe throwing, etc. but I don't want to go overboard (I mean we can't even play Jarts anymore). Peace, Love!
Werd!
People here in Wa. State really love George. He would come here every year and play at Columbia George, giant outdoor stadium. The event was known as George at the Gorge. His voice is so husky and masculine, love it!
The black guy with the square guitar is Bo Diddley, he is also a legend blues singer and guitar stroker.
This group also reminds me of the groups "The Georgia Satellites" and "The Fabulous Thunderbirds." React to both. I think you will like them.
just an added incentive, the guitar player in The Fabulous T-Birds is SRVs brother Jimmy Vaughn
There's a newer band called Volbeat who cover the Satalite's "Battleship Chains". It's worth a listen!🪂
Fabulous Thunderbirds?!? < _O-B Wan Kenobi voice_ > "Now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time..."
But seriously, haven't heard anything about the T-Birds in over a decade. Are they still in bizness?
Definitely a great riff! He has so many great songs. One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer is awesome. Great riffing plus great lyrics. Who Do You Love is also great, plus so many more!
My favorite use of this song was in the opening scenes of the Stephen King movie Christine!!! It sets the tone for the entire movie!
My husband was on U.S.S. Independence CV-62 Aircraft Carrier.
This was the them song for that ship. It plays on the loud speaker while pulling into port. It was awesome!
I saw George in concert when I was 18. I've never been so affected by another performance. There was no flash, no pyro, no fancy lights. They didn't need all of that. It was just a band on stage and it was amazing!
He had a rack that held 6 or 8 identical guitars and if a string broke on the one he was playing, he just grabbed the next one in line and kept going.
I'm not sure what happened, but at one point he stopped playing, walked to the edge of the stage and said to some guy on the floor "Hey! That's no way to treat a lady and if I see you do it again, I'm walking off the stage." A true gentleman and a lot of musicians today could learn a lot from him.
Recommendations... "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer", "I Drink Alone" or "Who do you Love?"
i just saw george at pine knob michigan yesterday he warmed it up for sammy hagar and im 17 the BEST concer EVER those guys can fucking rock even tho there in tbeir 70s lmao
I saw him in 1982, touring for this album. His slide guitar work is the best. And you're right, he didn't need fireworks or flash, just his guitar. Just like Chuck Berry.
Try some of his other hits; I Drink Alone, Move it on over, and One Bourbon One Scotch One Beer. Great Southern Blues rocker.
Something older people like me (67 years old) really enjoy about the video, things that make it really great, is the older pool player, first seen holding a square body guitar, is Bo Diddly, an early influence on George Thorogood and a later friend and the old white haired man who came in before the pool game started and laid down a large bet is Willie Mosconi, a very famous pool player and someone older people like myself would have seen on TV and in movies like "The Hustler." Those little things make the video so much more enjoyable for people who are older and know who Bo and Willie were.
I had so much fun watching you react to this! I was a kid in the 70’s and always loved the music I grew up with, but seeing your reactions to these amazing tunes, makes me even more grateful to have had the privilege of hearing them when they first came on the radio. I appreciate both of you and how you allow your genuine, authentic personalities to shine through ❤️.

When US Navy ships complete an underway refueling evolution and break away from the refueling ship they go to All Ahead Flank and play a “break away” song on their topside speakers. When I was stationed on the USS CONOLLY DD 979 in the early 90’s our break away song was “Bad to the Bone”.
That's good! Our captain, when I was on the San Jacinto CG-56 (90-93) loved to use Danger Zone from Kenny Loggins. Flank 3 ,full rudder
The first time I ever heard this song was back in the mid to early 80's, when I was really into WCCW wrestling. The Gentleman Chris Adams and Gino Hernandez would come down to ringside to THIS song! Great memories
Chris Adams never got his due in pro wrestling.
Rod, I was right there with ya Bro !! Man those were the days. But I'm sure every generation has said that, but it was, for real. Loved wrestling in the 60's, 70's and 80's. Then they lost me in the McMahon Era. But I sure loved southern wrestling. Now those boys were tough!
Hey guys, and I love your dynamic Rob you are an absolute lyrics guy and you're listening for the voices. The Mrs. she is all about the feel and the emotion. Seeing you guys play off each other is kind of funny and endearing. Certainly explains the bond you to have and your progeny. Definitely has me going back and watching all of your videos.
Keep going and enjoying the breadth of music you guys have selected
"One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer" has to be your next reaction.
Next: I drink alone by George Thorogood please
That's George Thorogood and the DELAWARE Destroyers ‼️‼️‼️
Use to go see him on the regular at local bars in Delaware
LONG AGO ❣️❣️❣️💯
Some background on "Bad to the Bone".
The full name of the band is "George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers".
Their band did not tour during the summer months because George Thorogood was an avid softball player.
This tune was featured in the Terminator 2 film.
To me, George Thorogood & The Destroyers are one of the best blues/rock groups to have come out of the modern era. You might also want to check out "Move It on Over". Pure rock/blues perfection!
I always love y’all’s reactions. Music is the universal language. Here’s the thing, George is from Delaware. Not exactly southern. (I was born there too) His band is the Delaware Destroyers. I have met the most hard-core country music lovers in Massachusetts, even though I grew up in Florida Louisiana and Texas! The point is music is universal! And George Thorogood is just damn fine music!
I am from DE also and he used to play on Main St in Newark de by the university back in the 70's, right out on the sidewalk
I, too, was born in Delaware (Wilmington, 1957) and have never once considered myself southern. Live in Florida now but still a "Philly" guy! But I'm never offended if someone thinks I'm from down here!
I haven't heard this song in a very long time. Thanks for reminding me how great this song is. 😍🤩
I love watching the two of you and your chemistry with some of these songs! You are so much fun to watch, makes a 75 year old man grin ear to ear!
This song was used to great effect in the opening scene of Terminator 2.
When Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator beats up a bar full of bikers, takes their clothes, a bike and a cool pair of shades this kicks in. The people in the theatre I was in lost it laughing and clapping.
That entire movie T2 is mind-blowingly awesome.
I loved the part when the Terminator walks into the bar buck naked and one of the waitresses passes by and looks with great appreciation at him while the terminator is measuring her for clothing fit - discounting her as female. This song rocked that movie.
Listen to this funny song if you want to hear about a guy getting beat up and having his clothes taken. Laisse béton it's a French song and the better versions are the original by Renaud and of course Pomplamoose
@@gammle-vikingr Hmmm will do
When I was growing up, THIS was the song that exemplified the blues to me. It's used in the opening of the movie Christine (based on Stephen King's novel) when they show the evil car Christine killing its first victim.
Was a legend around the Philadelphia area many years ago where me and my friends saw him 9-10 times. You’ll want to hear Move it on Over, One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer, Who Do You Love, Ride on Josephine, Nighttime, It Wasn’t Me, Cocaine Blues, The Sky is Crying. All covers from the beginning of rock and roll but he does it so good! He covered these about 25-30 years after the originals came out. Brought the early rock and roll sound to the modern ears of the time.
George was the first concert I ever went to in 1986. He is one of the best performers you will ever see live.
Listen to 1 Bourbon 1 Scotch 1 beer!!!!! Your welcome
Love mama lip singing to it! Spot on girl! Love me some old school music! Well of course I'm 61 years old lol but love your reactions!
My parents loved to play pool in fact my dad was a bit of a pool hustler. So when I was a baby they’d put a blanket under the table and lay me down on it while they played. A guy came every month down from Las Vegas to play against my dad and that’s how my dad made rent money every month for a while. So of course they had a pool cue in my hands by the time I was two years old. Growing up I spent a lot of time in pool halls and bars long before I was old enough. Children were taken everywhere back in the 70s so it wasn’t too unusual. Things were very different back then if they’d done it now a days someone would have called children services on them for abuse. My mom always said that she was very lucky that I never got hurt or taken given the things she allowed or did when I was a kid. Hell she took me to concerts with her and it wasn’t unusual for someone she really didn’t know to walk off with me in tow and not see me till the end of the concert when she’d go looking for me. I remember being passed around from group to group of stoned hippies at a Grateful dead concert when I was little. Times really were more innocent back then compared to now a days.
The greatest rocker of all time Bo Diddley was actually in this video (the pool section). George used to open to Bo Diddley and I saw one of those concerts and you couldn't wipe my smile off for days.
I used to work in a pool hall/arcade. This song and "One Bourbon , One Scotch, One Beer" Were played on the jukebox multiple times a day. I never got tired hearing them.
The guy he was playing against was Bo Diddly, a blues and early rock and roll icon. It would be worth it to check out some of his music.
I've seen them in Concert. They were GREAT!
Ohhhh, I knew they were gonna love this one, ha. George Thorogood is always a fun time! It is impossible not to like his badass, bluesy rock.
Please check out Johnny Lang he has been performing since he was a kid, he’s 40 now. He’s a singer songwriter guitarist in the rock gospel blues genre. My two favorite songs are Lie to Me 1997 and Redlight 2003 among other good songs. He was also featured in the sequel The Blues Brothers 2000 movie. One of the the gifts I sent you
Blues Brothers 2000 was a good music movie.
Louisiana Gator Boys??? How good can they be??? 🤣
Love this song. When my son was a toddler he would dance around the house playing air guitar singing "I'm bad to the bone daddy". Thx for the memories.
lol...my daughter too. She decided it was her theme song....
I am a guitarist. The first artist I learned to play was George when I was 8 years old. Check out more of him. Awesome.
A friend of mine went to the University of Delaware from '76-'79 and he used to see George and the Delaware Destroyers all of the time before they hit it big. He was a HUGE fan. I've seen them twice and they kick butt...always put on a fun, rockin' show.
You're going to love this !!
" Move it on over" "Gear Jammer" "Who do you love" "Hot Rod Lincoln" "I drink alone" " One bourbon, one scotch, one beer" This man does not have a bad song.
No doubt about that 50 years of incredible hits
I attended a George Thorogood and the Destroyers concert in an auditorium on the Florida State University campus several years ago (in the 80s). Although it was movie theater type seating, the music was so raw and rockin' I literally could NOT sit down. I HAD to dance! Even when I was out of breath and ready to take a break, they'd crank up another tune and I just kept dancing. The music was so LOUD that when I walked outside after the event, I could not hear the water cascading in the fountain in front of the venue, and the traffic noise! That concert taught me to bring ear plugs to concerts, just in case I needed them. Absolutely awesome experience!
We just called him Thorogood. I love it. My kind of music.
I think Amber had a Saxasm!
In other news, I've seen George in concert about five times. In small venues I've been close enough that his sweat was hitting me as he played guitar. He is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen, and he just rocks that bluesy sound like nobody's business. I don't know why he is not recognized more for his guitar playing. He NEVER disappoints in concert. It's just rocking fun from start to finish and you can tell that he is living every note like It's his lifeblood.
That's funny. My youngest son's claim to fame is "Kirk Hammett sweat on me!".
I was just going to say that same thing--I have seen him in small venues and he is SO GOOD! He still puts on a great show.
George Thorogood is definitely one of the most under appreciated musicians of all time. He has sooo many fantastic songs out there and most people have only heard 3 or 4 of them on the radio and most of those people don't know who sings them. Truth be told he has a huge library of great music.
I too have seen him multiple times. What an awesome musician. His concerts are always great. The first time I saw him, Brian Setzer opened, and Brian's last three songs, George came on stage, and played with him. Red Rocks outside of Denver, CO, the best concert venue ever.
1978 saw him live in a bar. What a night.
You should listen to his song I Drink Alone.
Fun, fun, FUN! Enjoyed seeing you guys love this one! Bless your rock-lovin’ beautiful souls!🤗💞
Another amazing song by George Thorogood is "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" - it has a BADASS guitar riff, and he's storytelling to boot.
George brought these old blues tunes back to life!
Great choice, one of the hardest working live bands of the '80's.
If you saw "The Destroyers" perform, you were wholly entertained, they didn't hold any back.
The man with the hat, glasses and the rectangular guitar, in the pool hall is the esteemed Bo Diddley, a rock n' roll contemporary of Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins and Elvis in the day.
The elegant gent with the statuesque blonde who comes to wager, the fabled Willie Mosconi one of the greatest pool champions ever to lift a cue !
He's got a real gutsy voice and his sound is a roadhouse blues riff in this song.
The guy that loses the match is a cat named Bo Diddley (I met him back in the late 80s) 50s-60s rocker check him out. The older gentleman in the gray suit, his name is Willie Marsconi a world champion billard (pool) player
He originally wrote this for Muddy Waters, but muddy already had some similar tunes recorded. Muddy missed out. This has turned out to be one of the most iconic tunes ever recorded. Did you notice Bo Diddley?
Thorogood is a rock n' roll/blues style
That is why Bo Diddley was in the video. A legendary Blues guitarist.
2 legendary artists in 1 video
It's the Bo Diddley beat and 'Who Do You Love' was a mainstay in Thorogood's set from the beginning. The song became an FM rock radio staple and one of Thorogood's most identifiable and popular songs. They became life long friends ever since.
"Snakeskin shoes baby put 'em on your feet, got the good time music with a Bo Diddley beat"
You will absolutely love his cover of "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"! I heard some guys blasting that tune, and it was so good; I asked them WHO was that?! Just do it! You're welcome.
I'm 58 years old and still can't sit still for George ...
He's 72 years old and still can play
Personal story about this song. I was in the Navy and we were coming back from a Med Cruise and they did a poll, to see what song to play as we came into pprt.
This song got 90% of yhe votes.
He also did a remake of the Johnny Lee Hooked song O e Burbon one Scotch an one Beer.
My personal favorite of his songs os Gear Jammer.
