  • As snow leopards are fantastically agile, we decided to create a feeder to take advantage of this agility. Using a simply block and tackle system with strong climbing rope (donated to us) we winched her food up the tree. Of course we started low, increasing the height as she became more confident.

Very revealing experiment, I did not know Snow Leopards would climb trees. In their natural environment they are super rock climbers. Where is this game ranch located which has a Snow Leopard to study.?

I think they're not a the best tree climber but their cousins Clouded Leopards are the best tree climber in cat family!!!

firstly snow leopards rarely if at all climb trees. a mountain steep false habitat should be created if you're so passionate about conserving a species. if you do manage to breed a large population here, they maybe ill disposed to surviving in the difficult difficult terrain of the himalayas.

Chintan Sheth This is not altogether true. While snow leopards are found in regions from the Karakoram to Arunachal Pradesh, where in the higher regions the terrain is stark. But they are also found in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan where mountains are plentyful in low ranging pine and coniferous trees. So snow leopards do climb trees, not to hunt, but many times to amuse themselves. It is to been seen that mountains in Arunachal Pradesh at the same altitude as the ranges of the like at Hemis, are more forested a feature that distinguishes the Eastern Himalayas from its western counterpart. So snow leopards in Ladakh are less likely to be adept to tree climbing as their folk in Arunachal Pradesh.
