In the 50’s and 60’s, ugliness was considered to be a crime. In the first Bizarro story, Superboy tried to kill Bizzarro because he was ugly

Even the contemporary readers thought Superboy was a jerk in that story and pressured the writers into resurrecting Bizzaro.
Literally, yes. There were “ugly laws” that said anyone deformed couldn’t be seen in public. They weren’t repealed for another ten years.
In Bizarro World being ugly would mean he was handsome since everything's opposite there.
At first I was like "She can't possibly be serious on doing a series on Lois marrying people." But then I saw today's title and I was like "YAY!" So I guess I'm into it. Keep going!

About a few days ago, i saw another "Lois Marriage" story, and thought "This is Sasha fodder", where Lois is "The Bride of Titanman". On the cover, it proves once again that Lois is skin deep, and asks Superman to save her, but Superman, sitting in a pugh said "That's what you get or not marrying me." . Goddamn, everyone was PETTY! lol
(Oh yeah, I pronounce it 'Mix-Yis-Pit-Lick" and I still quote the library card dong and "Just a Little Homework" too, especially Buster's part, "WHY-AY-AYAYAYYYEEE, I think i'm gonna DIE-AYEYAYAYAAAYYYEEE!!!!!")
According to an old "Ask the Answer Man" column in the Daily Planet page in the back of mid-seventies DC comics, Bob Rozakis said the pronunciation is "Mix-yez-pitel-ick." Michael L. Fleisher's THE GREAT SUPERMAN BOOK from 1978 (basically the Superman volume of his ENCYCLOPEDIA OF COMIC BOOK HEROES, and reprinted as such in 2007) also used Rozakis's pronunciation, and added that Kltpzyxm is pronounced "Kel-tipz-yex-im."

Yes. I read that comic and was kind of mystified! Supes never gave Lois a "yes" or "no" answer to her question of whether he would marry a Black woman!

For what it's worth, DC lore at the time was that history cannot be changed, so Superman would not be able to alter Lois's and X-Plam's destiny. (Later, the inability to change the past was retconned in Crisis on Infinite Earths so that you could change it at the beginning of time. They've also been inconsistent about that, as Kamandi's future was said to "sometimes" stand between our time and the then-30th century Legion.)

I am glad they moved Lois from the Golden and Silver age versions to a more modern version, sometimes I just rolled my eyes when Lois came on the scene.

I appreciate that you do not dismiss these silly stories from the 1960s as stupid. Those were the stories I grew up with and I have a nostalgic respect and fondness for them. I was born in the silver age, grew up in the bronze age and still read comics today. I love how you 'get' Lois Lane. Few do now days! We loved her in the seventies. Check out the Superman Family issue where she becomes the Bionic Lois Lane. Also seminal is the one where she grows a giant brain and has to go to Las Vegas to work as a showgirl because the head dresses will cover her gigantic head. Then to make matters worse, Bizarro suddenly finds her extremely attractive! Love what you're doing!

Last, that episode of The Twilight Zone William Shatner did (one of two he did for the series, the other being 'Nick of Time') was called Nightmare at 20,000 Feet- not in my top 5 but still a favorite of mine...

Between the Golden Age and Silver Age, they did make a typo in Mr Mxyzptlk's name! (Say that three times fast!) The purple coated guy's name is slightly different than the orange space suit guy's.

I read comics through the 60's and 70's. How come I don't remember ALL these Lois Lane marries __________? This really was a "go to" for the silver age! It really makes Lois look like a lunatic and an incredibly shallow person. Granted Superman from this time was a dysfunctional jerk who derived joy from on again off again yanking Lois around.
