If you’ve been to Disney in the summer, what was one thing that helped YOU beat the heat?!

Well, my favorite time of Year to go to Walt Disney World is during May, which is before it gets really hot.

I've been living in near Disney since the late 1970's. Wear a breathable hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. Also, pack a raincoat or poncho because it rains every afternoon during the hot season.

Aside from several great tips already mentioned (e.g., frequent sunscreen, cooling towels, brimmed hat), I have found controlling moisture (& its unfortunate side effects) really contributes to my ability to tolerate sweltering summer heat. Moisture-wicking clothing, including socks, undergarments, & shirts, really helps keep that gross wet feeling at bay & has a slight cooling effect on my skin. Sweaty socks are a leading cause of blisters on the feet! At the same time, I use an anti-chafing stick to prevent the unfortunate skin irritation that can occur any time heat, moisture, & friction meet; Body Glide & Megababe are two good brands & can be used on various body parts. Finally, even as careful as I am, sometimes a heat rash can still happen, so I pack “Anti Monkey Butt” powder. I know the name is a little off-putting, but it’s a cornstarch & calamine powder blend & it is amazing for calming things down. There are three formulas-Original, Lady, & Baby. The Lady & Baby are talc-free to avoid any health risks. Because of the calamine powder, your clothes may have a very slight pink tint to them but it is not noticeable & definitely washes out with no staining.

Great tips! And yes, agreed 🙌🏼 Just like I mentioned in the video, wearing the right outfit is crucial. There’s nothing worse than clothes that trap heat and moisture in the Floridian heat 🤪

Couldn’t agree more! Mid day breaks are an absolute must. I always tell people you aren’t going to see and do everything anyway, so you can kick that expectation out the door, so don’t be afraid to take a long AC break somewhere. We usually take some sort of fan on every trip with us!

I plan on wearing pink linen pants with a white tee..my skechers sandles. I have a back up outfit green linen pants with my moana tee. I can't wear shorts or skirts. I feel like the sun is burning the back of my legs for some reason or it gets sticky and don't like anyone one to touch me. Lol
I am excited to bring all the fans, mister..water bottle..etc.
I went in the middle of August with my sister and younger brother. We are from California so it gets very hot. So icky, sticky. When it was super hot we went into the Disney stores on main Street after our lunch. We just walked in the stores with the nice air conditioning, then walked out to see the parade. Then saw couple of shows. On one of the days..I took my hair scarf and put ice water on it the put it on the back of my neck. It felt great.

I definitely endorse the mid-afternoon break. We have used that strategy since my girls were 5 & 7 (they are 18 and 20 now) and it make the summer heat so much more bearable. A quick dip in the pool and a rest in the room makes such a big difference! We also like having a sit down meal mid day to cool down and recover a bit.

    • @BekahHart

YES 🙌🏼 Both of those things make such a huge difference in your day!

I’ll have to check out the brita water bottle! Always looking for good travel water bottles that keep your drinks cold all day! 👏🏼

I also took advantage of seeking out ac while browsing shops, like the Emporium to get a bit of a reprieve and really taking my time. As well as bringing travel size spray deodorant and perfume to help me feel refreshed.

We are totally a quick service family, but that’s a great idea to get a table service reservation just for A.C. and a guaranteed place to sit!

Exactly!! Having a guaranteed table is so nice. One less thing to think about for lunch 👌🏼

we just got back & highly recommend park hopping from Hollywood studios to DAK in the afternoon if you’re able.. HS is on the face of the sun and DAK felt a solid 20 degrees cooler 😂 it was a nice relief without compromising park time!

      @BekahHart  Před rokem

That’s so funny! 😅 Normally I hear the exact opposite! Hahah good to hear that DAK was the coolest park for you guys lol👌🏼

I was there in August 1998 for our anniversary and it was brutal in the parks. Walking on that concrete literally boiled our feet and legs, and that was before the long long long lines for everything now. Can't imagine doing it today with all the hoops one has to jump through.

#1 tip from a redhead....DON'T FORGET THE SUNSCREEN🔥🔥🔥 I even refrigerate it overnight. Don't forget to reapply at least every 2 hours and wear a bucket hat! I totally agree with taking a break👍👍👍👍

It’s usually still in the 80s in October, so slightly better than July/August! 🤪

Yea. It doesn’t start becoming cool until like a week before Halloween
