  • Dearest bookhos,
    It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that I cannot pass up a Jane Austen themed fabric... and that I needed more muslin for fashion classes. I decided to treat myself to my first ever order from ‪@Mood_Fabrics‬ !!!
    Inside you'll see what I got for upcoming projects, a Mood Mystery kit and even a little Scrap Monster.
    Enjoy and don't forget to make it sew,
    Bianca

    The mystery kit is so cool! We shop/swatch shows at Mood all the time but I am so unfamiliar with their offerings for fashion sewists. It’s brilliant!

      It's super cool! they also have some fashion school essential kits they offer at the start of semester that just bundle patterns stuff or basic sewing tools and i dig it.

      Same same. I’m trying to work my way through a lot of my stash to justify a future order

    So cool to see the mystery kit! I haven’t ordered from Mood yet but it’s one of those big wish-list one-day things for me so I get your excitement!! That lettering print would look cool as a visible lining in a jacket made in the purple stripe. Or would be cute as ruffle accents on a blouse made in the light plum fabric you ordered. I’m sure scrap monster is at least happy that you’re going to reuse the dramatic gold envelope lol

      Oooo you’re right about the print working as a lining.

    What a fun haul. The mystery kit suiting is a total score.

    Aw scrap monster! Poor baby lol. I relate!
    Nice haul. I'm tempted to try Mood's patterns, but my pattern hoard is already pretty untouched and several projects are WIP. So of course I'll probably print some off...

      @@bookhoarding ...I totally didn't line Sewstine's Kefta pattern (available on Mood's website for free) with it. (I'm lying, I totally did, except for adding some satin in the sleeves cause the flannel's too sticky)

  • @robintheparttimesewer6798

    I love watching other people’s fabric hauls! I had planned to do a stash buster year but then covid hit. So started my 100% cotton stash! I had also planned to recover all my ironing boards. I have the new covers and that’s easy for the normal board. Of course I have a medium board and a sleeve board so eventually I really have to do that! Organization would be great too! My ability to organize has been lacking these last two years!
    I have said no more fabric but then I got the pattern for your capetember entry. So now I have to mock that up for myself and my daughter then buy wool! I’m in Canada so I’m thinking about a heavy weight wool. Later though I glanced at the price per meter so I’m still getting over the sticker shock. Maybe a next fall make. And I never said that I couldn’t have fabric from thrift shops!! Good thing that the scrap monster doesn’t live here he wouldn’t make it!!!

    • @bookhoarding
      @bookhoarding  Před 2 lety +1

      Omg I hope you do get a good wool for the cape. It’s a very good and warm accessory to have.
      I really need to reorganize my sewing supplies one day, maybe I’ll do a video on it in case it helps folks.

      Keep an eye on Fabricville's website if you're near ON/QC, I've gotten some really nice wools there when they've gone on sale for buy 1 get 3...

    • @bunhelsingslegacy3549
      @bunhelsingslegacy3549 Před 2 lety

      @@bookhoarding well I did end up with 3m of a polyester-wool knit that wasn't labelled a knit when I ordered it, but I made it work. What was magical was how it took dye, I bought it in magenta with the intention of dyeing it purple... the knit part is polyester and the fuzzy outside is wool and the polyester resisted the dye, so the inside is a mottled pink and purple, and the outside came out like a fuzzy grape popsicle!
      The problem with those sales is it's usually clearance, so you get all the weird colours cause the rest is sold out, but sometimes the weird is what you want!

  • @SparkieGoth

    Oooh! I love that monochrome writing fabric. I'd love to wear a dress or blouse made from that.
    Edited to add: Oh is Scrap Monster a boy? I always thought of them as female.
