- Chaplin performs his Dance of the Rolls from "The Gold Rush" at a Hollywood party in 1926. The party-goers were making a home movie called "Camille" and this clip made it into the movie. Chaplin often performed this at dinners and parties when it was requested of him...no rehearsal, just off the cuff.

He was soooo handsome and charming!!! It kills me that I will never get to meet him :(
He is such a cutie when he does this, with and without make-up. God Bless you Charlie!
YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT CHARLIE CHAPLIN IS A CUTIE🐱
I could watch this over and over. This energy, this vitality, this genious. I love Charlie Chaplin so much, he is THE Artist and THE Genious in Films, forever. RIP
I also think he was handsome. He had large beautiful blue eyes and sensual lips...
and was a most sensitive and intelligent artist. A complete artist. A genius
he was so handsome, charming and talented.. ❤❤❤
LOVE this....he was so handsome & adorable without the make-up but loved him as well with it : )))))))))
I thought I was the only person in the whole world that could see Chaplin as a handsome man!
Thanks for the video! :D
He is extraordinary. I think God has send him in the universe to show the real acting to the audience. He is an actor, director, and singer. No one can ever match this men.
and a compositor, what a genius!
YOU MEAN!NO ONE CAN EVER MATCH THIS MAN 🤵♂️!
He makes it look so easy. Genius.
CHARLIE CHAPLIN AS HIMSELF DEFINITELY IS SO HANDSOME AND ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS 😂 😅!
Even if he grew older his face remained as handsome as when he was younger
Oh God !!! How cuuutee!! He was so handsome!!! Love you Charlie!! Great video! ;)
It's so strange to see this without him being in the makeup, moustache, and baggy suit. It's wonderful to see the same old smile, though...
Oh those eyes and that wonderful smile....
I’m truly in love with Charlie Chaplin’s eyes 👀 in this this. Wonderful expressions 🎶
CHARLIE CHAPLIN'S EYES 👀 COLOR ARE BLUE 💙🥰😍🤩😘😺😸😹😻😼😽🐱
he made it look easy
He was actually a very good looking man haha Beautiful smile and wonderful eyes c:
so dashing. wish i could of met him. long live the brilliant Chaplin.
i only recently became a chaplin fan. but man! this guy was so talented! and handsome and charming too! i'm going to be a fan for live!
I think that if you can describe this with one word (besides "genius"), and that is "expressive." You can read ever inch of his face, and every moment of this simple little performance is purposeful. And yes, those eyes are terribly important in passing on the performance, not just the movement of the rolls and the subtle head shifts. Those expressive eyes made him the silent star that he became. He could communicate more with those eyes than most "actors" could with reams of scripts.
SO TRUE ABOUT CHARLIE CHAPLIN!😮
Those eyes. BEAUTIFUL.
he is just so awesome.... luv ya Charlie wish you were still here today.....
Oh how I love and adore Mr. Chaplin! What an artist!
Thank you for posting! Watching this made my whole day better
Very true, I think you may be right. I also wonder if it may be because he doesn't have the tramp look and we can see more of his natural expression.
Don't get me wrong, the tramp is iconic for a reason, and I doubt he can do the lip wiggle as well without the tramp moustache, but here it's fun to see his natural look.
I keep watching this over and over... this was my best find on youtube in a while. thank you so much for uploading!
I bet dinner time at Charlie's house was hilarious xD
Or not :)
@@Ana-ll4th what’s your problem
He was quite a handsome fellow. And a comedy genius? Perfection.
Tried this once, it was harder than I thought.
chaplin had an english music hall background with a massive heritage of gags that were yet to be seen on film he was very lucky in that respect of the era he became an outstanding film maker,im a huge fan of silent comedy and for some reason i prefer keaton and lloyd to charlie but im not really sure why although i respect the man and his contribution
just love Chaplin!!
amo a Chaplin! fue uno de los mejores comediantes, actores, cineastas que pudimos tener en el mundo!
tha man was soooo looovely, and an artist of course!! I love this video :D thanks for posting it!
Absolute genius !!!
The best.
Wow, he has such a serious face and yet he acts so goofy!
He was very good looking, I might add.
Ça c'est du talent, merci l'artiste vous nous manqué énormément 👏👏
I've seen him perform this in one of his films, but for some reason it never cracked me up the way this performance does. I think he has more energy here or something.
1.27 of pure joy! Love you Charlie!
thanks for posting. VERY VERY GREAT
He's so dreamy. Ahhhhhhh...
BRILLIANT! I think I like this version better than the one from Gold Rush. *bowing down to Sir Chaplin*
SIR CHARLES SPENCER CHAPLIN!😊

Such a classic gag, works good with potatoes too

Excellent!!
Roscoe Arbuckle did this bread roll dance in one of his movies before Chaplin did.

i Loooove This!
the best of the best, el mejor de mejores
i do this at parties haha
SOOOO handsome!! Is this supposed to be the scene in CHAPLIN where he's doing this a a dinner party, or something?
Cette video ma conquise des le dépard juste trop bien.
Jai essayer une fois on dirait pas comme sa mais en vrais cest assez dur a fair cette petite danse.
juste geniale.
It's part of the score from Chaplin's film "A Day's Pleasure." I think the specific track is called "Dancing Aboard Ship." I'm not sure if that's the official title for it - just the one that the CD gave it.
THE SONG IS CALLED " TWELVE STREET RAG"!
It's not THE scene, but Chaplin did this a lot at parties, so the scene in "Chaplin" is based on a culmination of performances.
EL MEJOOOOR!! COMO CHAPLIN NO HAY 2
LOVE YOU FOREVER AND ALWAYS FOREVER
Muy buen truco.
Yu-re absolutely right!!! ;)
que guapo!!!!!like si te lo parece .
THIS WAS FILM IN 1926! THE SAME YEAR THAT RUDY VALENTINO JUST DIED!😢
tha man was so looovely
Awesome
Que crack !!!!
Yes, Arbuckle was the first to do it, but Chaplin took the idea and made it into a dance. Arbuckle just stuck forks in the rolls and moved them around on the table. Chaplin elevated this gag into the art form of his films. That was what separated him so many times from the other comedians of his era (except for Keaton and Lloyd who created their own art forms). Arbuckle was good, but Chaplin blew him out of the water.
YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT CHARLIE CHAPLIN!😆😅🤣😂🥲😋😛😜🤪😝🤑🤗🤭😏
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Te adoro!!!
Roll dance scene in Benny and Joon brought me here.
luv this man. he must of been so much fun to hang out with at parties. no so much on a movie set when the shit hit the fan but at parties...oh boy. :D luv yah Charlie ! if anyone is interested i do my lil homage to his lil dance of the bread rolls on my channel !
Someone should make a video response doing the dance IRL,
Quel génie !
👏👏👏👏👏
I don't now if you're just trying to be funny...but this is Chaplin. He got the idea of the routine from Arbuckle way back when they worked at Keystone together in 1914. Have you seen "The Gold Rush"? Chaplin does this in the film and here he is doing it for fun at a party. Besides...Arbuckle looks like 3 men put together - Chaplin's just a little guy like you see here ; ) Trust me...I know my Chaplin and I know where I got this from...a Chaplin DVD. Be careful about who you call an idiot.
I believe the gag _started_ as a party gag....
genius
