She is such a great talker, like her sentence structures are so clever and you can see how smart she is! Her voice is so smoothing
Yesss
That's a Libra thing. Truly, it is 😄
100% agree
Yeah I had to look up some words, even tho I think of myself as an more advanced english speaker. Now I’m not so sure anymore...
You don’t have to be the smartest to be such an idol and that’s why she’s such an artist and great role model
I like how he ASKED her if she wanted to talk about More....very respectful
"We accept the love we think we deserve." OKAY PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER. I SEE YOU.
23:47
Desiree Smith I THOUGHT THE EXACT SAME THING OMG
When I tell you how my jaw FLOORED
I said the same thing haha
I spit out my drink when I heard that it caught me off guard but made me soooo happy
Time stamp???
this makes me want to have a conversation with her so bad
Same , she's incredible it would be so awesome
same!! i just want to meet her and talk to her for some time and connect with her.
bruh i would love that sm
I agreed and liked your comment then saw we have the same name! 😆
THIS is what a real interview looks like.
srsly. such good questions, such thoughtful and honest responses.
Everyone expected MANIC to be a crazy song, but it contains such emotions and experiences that Halsey has been through. And many of us can think, sit down, and just realise what this song truly means. That so many people’s emotions are given for someone else they love or loved, and then it’s all disappeared. The song isn’t about hating yourself, it’s about ‘STILL LEARNING’ to love yourself. We all learn, and this song is one of the best ways to learn. Super successful, and absolutely proud of the whole album and her career.
Theresa Nassar what are talking about she’s projected to debut #3 on billboard she flopped
Darshawn Driggins your talking like it’s all easy, when she has one of the biggest hits ‘Without Me’ if you think it’s super easy to get successful like that, I’d love to see you try. She’s worked her ass off, Shes had not just 1 number one hit, but tones. Let’s not forget Closer, Ghost, Colors. If she’s flopped, how comes she’s known as a successful artist? :)
girl its flopping 💀
Darshawn Driggins it’s already eligible for gold what are u talking about?
Darshawn Driggins she’s projected to sell more copies than Selena Gomez did. It’s going to be a record breaking album for her. Unfortunately, women have an automatic less amount of sales than white men like Eminem Bc males tend to not be fans of female artists. As a woman, it’s breaking records. Manic is the greatest selling album for a female artist so far this year. So no, it is NOT a flop.
I need this girl recitating her album as a poetry.
To hear nothing but her passionate voice and could fully appreciate the power of her words.

You can tell just how much Ashley loves music and I’m so happy Zane actually does his research and asks her such great questions where she can actually go off and talk about her music
Yeah, it was pretty great , he really did a awesome job and Ashley was so comfortable talking about the songs and about her life, i just love it so much that i could literally hear her talk for hours
I kind of hated tho how he said manic wasn’t sonically manic sounding
manic gets better with every listen it’s INSANE
Exactly, totally agree dude

Yaaassss!!!

it is hands down one of the best albums ever. the lyrics are so raw and real I can’t even describe it.
God Halsey you need to start a podcast, I could listen to you for hours on end - no topic, just what ever you'd want to talk about, I'd listen to it

Very true! She has a great speaking voice as well as singing! She is also intelligent and well spoken. Very pleasant to listen to. 🥰 Super talented for sure.
@@free2beemee couldnt agree more!!
I’ve never related to an artist as much as I relate to this incredible artist here. She’s relatable in the most authentic way rather than a try hard

Why they are not allowed to talk about Alannis Interlude? I speak spanish so My English is good but i have doubts. Can You explain me what Halsey talks when Zoe said that the song Alanis Interlude is the biggest Flex song of thecalbum? And Halsey Say biggest Flex ? I AM not sure about they said . So i got Lost in that part. Please can You explain me 🙂?
Vailis Natalie Lagos, yeah sure. When Zane said “can we not talk about Alanis Morrisette” he didn’t mean it literally, it’s like a rhetorical question because obviously they went on to talk about her. “Flex” means showing off in a non humble way; and because Alanis is such a high status musician and so Halsey is saying it’s such a show off that she got to work with her and create an amazing song. Hopefully that makes more sense 😊
L X 😊 thanks
45:36 Halsey is always so sweet & genuine when mentioning her friends, BTS. She really appreciates their music & artistry. I love how she says she needed Yoongi on her album after listening /connecting to his Agust D mixtape + reading its lyric translations. I appreciate Suga’s Interlude even more now. 🥺💜👫☔️
I love their friendship so much 🥺❤
Kelly G yesss it’s so special 🥺
Yes, and I appreciate how she discussed their music! As so many people were introduced to BTS with Boy With Luv, many people assumed this was their sound or at least their common approach to songwriting. However, as an avid listener, I was shocked at Boy With Luv. It was the first time they wrote a song about love in a positive light-- or as Halsey put it, that didn't have a punchline. They have a relatively darker, more serious and introspective foundation to all their lyrics (despite how they end up *sounding*) that perfectly matches Halsey. I am especially appreciative of the magically collaborations that come about when 2 songwriters that are my Alanis Morissette come together.
The part about Finally/Beautiful Stranger and YUNGBLUD (Dom) is so heartbreaking. She admits she was really happy with him and he is an awesome guy. It’s sad it didn’t work out 😭
I'm just so glad it ended gracefully, and they're still good friends. That makes me happy ❤
But in which part she saying that i just want hear that part😂😂🤟🏼
i loved them together and i love them separately. some people just aren't made to be romantically compatible :/
@@annakivaderova1452 She talks about Dom at 33:15-37:04....
@@biglanzy Oh thank the stars they're still pals!
Her face when she goes "what if six of the songs dont have ANY DRUMS" oh my god shes so WHOLESOME I love her so much wtf

48:51 when she talks about MORE, made me realize that it's a song for her baby, for her baby to listen to someday and see how much she wanted it. I'm broken
Eleonora Luna thank you for commenting the time I wanted to hear that part🥰🥰
This breaks my heart. I never realized that. And i love “MORE”
No lie, I felt like she wrote the song, from my head.. I have endometriosis. I can't "keep," a baby.. I can get pregnant, but that's it. My body rejects it. Every time. All my cousins (over 32 of them), Aunts, mom (of course), my sister.. All, have 3 or more kids. No bullshit.
Not me tho... I've cried till my eyes were swollen shut, knuckles sore, red (from punching walls)..
Hating all women, pregnant or not. Crying, cause I wasn't hating on them, it was me.. Hating myself.
Also- The part she said about, "finding God, losing too.." TRUTH.
I'm deeply sorry for you. I wish there was something I could say that could make it better. I'm sending all my love to you and I hope someday you can held your child. It's not the blood that makes a family, but the care and the attention towards each other.
and now she wait for a baby 🥺❤️
Halsey opening up in this album is literally everything. I am so proud of her.
Halsey makes me wanna spend more time studying the dictionary
Yeah maybe you don’t speak English as your second language but I’m finding phrases that I haven’t heard and still useful when I want to express deeper about myself
This proves how excellent her speaking skills are (in terms of expression)
@@0channko_xox5 You Studying English like a second language too ?
Miguel Fonseca Yup I'm Japanese
@@0channko_xox5 This is nice, I'm from Brazil, it's strange think that two peoples don't speak the same born language, but still manage to communicate with someone else using English.

I love these interviews so much. I could listen to halsey talk for hours.
omg saaaaaaaame
Me too!!! She's soooo intellectual & interesting 💙💙
The way she recited the lyrics to Ashley...reads like a slam poem, so good
When she said her brother said 929 was the most she's ever sounded like his sister - I had a major "awww" moment. Damn this album is a whirlwind of emotions from start to finish. It has been the main thing I've been listening to since it dropped, and I always listen to it all the way through. I also thought it was pretty cool how she has the "trios" of songs on each album!
Alberto Brandt that song is probably my favorite one on the album. She’s so real and raw. It really hit me in a way no other song other then Clementine hit me.
Stephanie Santiago That song and then Forever ... (is a long time) did that for me!!
I cried. Seriously. I cried.
“More” is like my favorite of all, it’s way too personal and sweet, and me as a girl that will have difficulties to have a baby in the future, I connect to this song so much, thank you Halsey 🥺❤️
I know right?! I cry everytime!
Same sis
Same... this song is heartbreaking.. and also the music makes me feel all my emotions of having a baby wich I can’t so deeply. It’s too personal for me too.
Same 🥺 gets me every time I hope I can sing “more” to my sweet baby someday when they arrive 💖
I really hope that she has someone to sing "More" to in the future.
It was about trying to have a baby. And the miscarriages and wanting to have a baby even more because of the struggle. I truly hope she gets that baby 💙
Me too
can't wait till the day she's on stage and then BOOM surprises everyone she's either pregnant or expecting and singing to her little bundle of joy or shes singing to her 1 year old, or 5 year old or 10 year old child or children
crying after today’s announcement :’)
Just think now she's pregnant and can sing this to her baby now
The fact that the first time Ashley first hung out with bts was just to know each other and goof around, unlike other artist that would just meet each other just to talk about the collaboration, it’s actually a little mind blowing that Ashley would go and listen and look at the lyrics to agust d by yoongi and end up having a huge connection, like this just shows how much Ashley and bts have of a true connection and how they understand each other even though there’s a huge language barrier, it’s amazing how their friendship keeps building up each time they meet, the amount of success maniac tuned out to be makes me so proud of her and the amount of love people give her, she truly is the right person for someone to collaborate with 💖
Yes. I just thought THANK YOU when she talked about the interlude. I am especially appreciative of the magically collaborations that come about when 2 songwriters that are my Alanis Morissette come together.
@@user-of4gh8bo7c Please, she's such close friends with BTS. BTS themselves joke about random people being the 8th member. It ain't that deep. I'm so glad they became such good friends, Halsey is incredible.
@@user-of4gh8bo7c This is the issue. She stands in front of millions of people and says she supports them and people come at her for making a joke that doesn't sit right *with You, not the guys.* Meanwhile people that use BTS or straight up act like they don't know them as soon as they become competition, and everyone streams and screams ending fanwars. I can confidently say Halsey puts in more work and thoughts in creating an album more than most of our artistes today..and she doesn't get as much credit for it..it hurts me to the soul.
"This is probably the first interview that I've ever done where the person that I hope I become isn't too far off from the person that I already am right now." Oh, Ashley.

She so pretty it’s unreal
Halsey is such a great talker. It’s like you’re reading a book and you’ll learn a lot from her.
She’s linguistically talented.
She's so mature but also so self-aware, and honest about where she's at. And Manic is by far her best album yet and I'm just so freaking proud of her and happy for her.
"Nobody's asking it to the boys" this is so true, when male artist take themselves seriously and talk about their music super in depth no one says they're arrogant or pretentious
Dead on. There's so much bias against female creatives. Alanis had t deal with so much crap and things haven't moved on that far attitude wise I don't think. I love Halsey's attitude though: when you write because it's in you, and so is painting and poetry and all the other stuff, it's so much healthier. She's an artist, she'll be able to give out and take from the medium until it's not right for her, and then she'll have lots of other avenues to go down.
Time stamp??
This interviewer is FIRE btw.

One hour of Halsey. That's a win for me!
43:45 "God gave me depression, cause he knew if I only had mania I would try to overthrow him." That's intense. I can relate.
I love how he really LISTENS to her & meditated on what she says & actually replies with something that has some worth. ❤❤
literally trying not to cry in lecture listening to her explain these songs
her songwriting techniques inspire me to write. ive never been good at writing "song lyrics" but i love writing poetry. And seeing the way Halsey writes makes me feel confident that I can write songs too! 😭
as much as i love her singing, if she did a spoken word session of this album, I would totally see that too

i'll probably edit this more later, but for now:
ashley, 5:19 (spoken @ 8:11, 8:29, 8:43)
{the spoken piece at 8:11 aligns with 0:22 in the album version. 8:29 with 0:52, 8:43 with 1:26}
8:11/0:22 "i'm standing now in a mirror that i built myself and i can't remember why the decision wasn't mine, but it seems i'm only clinging to an idea now. i took my heart and sold it out to a vision that i wrote myself, and i don't wanna be somebody in america just fighting the hysteria, i only wanna die some days"
8:29/0:52 "some day when i burst into flames, i'll leave you the dust. i hope a bit of it'll be enough to help remember the days when we came to this place. i told you i'd spill my guts, and then left you to clean them up, i'm bursting out of the seams"
8:43/1:26 "seems like now"
8:47/1:26 "seems like now, it's impossible to work this out, i'm so committed to an old ghost town, but is it really that strange if i always wanna change? and if only the time and space between us wasn't lonely, i'd disintegrate into a thousand pieces. i think i'm making a mistake but if i decide to break, who will fill this empty space? so now, if i figure this out, apart from my beating heart, it's a muscle but it's still not strong enough to carry the weight of the choices i've made. i told you i'd ride this out, but it's getting harder every day somehow. i'm bursting out of myself."

I absolutely love this interview. There's a really nice flow from begining to end, the interviewer really knows the album and appreciate it and Halsey, Ashley, she's so eloquent and honest and funny and raw, I don't think it's easy at all to put yourself out like this and talk this much about it. There's so much love and passion about his music and living and you feel like you could touch it you'd probably start crying, I did. I love every second of it but most importantly I feel really thankful. I wish you growth and happiness, sincerely.
i genuinely started crying when she was talking about more. i hope i get to see the day when she gets to sing this to someone
She is so well-spoken.
I used to think that Hopeless fountain kingdom was her best work, lyrically and sonically, and that Manic will not be like that. But when I first listened to Manic, it was like man she did it again. She is probably one of the best songwriters of our age. A masterpiece
Her vocals are so good when she sings here.
Halsey is the female artist we all needed.
When I heard "little feet" in "more" I immediately thought she was referencing having kids. My heart squeezed and I choked up. This album is so beautifully raw. I also have endo and suffered a miscarriage. The strength it took for her to perform during one is absolutely astonishing yet shattering that she had to endure that. I now have two beautiful children though the pregnancies were arduous and now my health severely impairs every aspect of our life. I hope she's able to take a break for healing herself because trauma and a packed schedule is a surefire way to incite a breakdown. It's not always mentally either-when the body has had enough autoimmune will kick in as a wake-up call. Unresolved issues and excess stress will accumulate as incurable chronic conditions. Combat negativity with positivity by connecting with nature, meditating, deep breathing, exercise, art, kind words to anyone and everyone especially those struggling, etc. Luck and love to all x
“I didn’t trust any male energy because I was so wronged” (not exact but you get it). I feel that. It’s been over three years and I still feel it. Still lack trust. You are so honest and raw. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
With the explanation about "Ashley" I really hope she could take care of herself. I think all of her fans would agree that her health and presence comes first before her music.
