    Could we see a stress test of this ring? I love the design but I’m not convinced that the glow powder will stay in the grooves without a top layer of C/A protecting it.

      Well being as they used the thin CA, the glow powder basically soaked it up and with how rough the surface is on that ring Id say the longevity is pretty good.

    • @kfed5578
      @kfed5578 Před rokem +4

      @@stonecyfer8225 that only works it the walls of the grooves are concaved, otherwise it will fall out eventually, and that was the point I was trying to make. The groove are very shallow, so I can only assume a few pounds of force in the right spot would pop them right out.

    One suggestion I'd like to make -- in order to achieve better mixing of your powders, you should sift the powders together through a tight-mesh sieve a few times before funneling it back into the bottle.

    I love the concept of this Ring, (I very much like what you are doing!!) but as a personal taste: I do not like the color of the glow powder in daylight. For me it should fit more to the metal. I do not know if black, or other metal-colors are possible to mix, but this how I feel about it. Keep up what you are doing!

  • @Crestlinger2
    @Crestlinger2 Před rokem +5

    You should use the damascus pieces/shavings as like the copper bits in the sunken artifact ones. Can be like a 'Tailings' series.
    Have to wonder what the tally for injuries is thus far. Flying metal/hands close to moving machinery etc. just seems like there's a Lot of potential for ouch here.
    Other material ideas for ones like this: timascus, mokume gane, and superconductor.

    • @Sk0lzky
      @Sk0lzky Před rokem

      Hi, I work with metal and rotary tools and these metal shavings that actually "spray" out are very light and don't fly too fast so unless you're not wearing eyepro and dust mask (or even a scarf but that's not very safe with rotary tools, just like gloves) you're gonna be fine.
      When sparks fly it's slightly different because while they're not gonna hurt you (it stings but dangerous levels of heat don't penetrate deep enough to deal damage to cells) however they do destroy clothes, an apron or literally just leather clothing is a good idea in this case

  • @Mux0006
    @Mux0006 Před rokem +1

    Same ring, but some pre-polishing of the metal and finder glow powder..or maybe some white epoxy to apply the powder....just to het that clean and sharp contrast....also...same thing with wood? maybe torch burn to get the grain to get the black on white play.

    I'd love to see you try this with finely ground opal dust! Would be cool to try this concept with superconductor too! You might even be able to use this process to make a superconductor ring that looks like its covered in glowing dragon scales if you cut the grain at the correct angle. :D

  • @youtubegaveawaymychannelname

    I have always wanted to see a heavy metal scrap ring. Take a meteorite or black ceramic blank with a nice channel and fill it with all the best scraps, dust, shavings, etc. that you can from machining your other rings. Throw in things like shavings of copper, bits of titanium, chunks of zirconium maybe a little bit of obsidian and fill in the gaps with your signature meteorite star dust. I just love the contrast of heavy and dark metals/stones and don't need a lot of flashy glow.

    This looks really awesome, I'd be curious if you could get a better surface finish on the inlay if you sealed the CA with epoxy or something that would help amalgamate the crystals into the finished crevices.
    The polished edges contrast really well with the etched valleys and crystals, I just find myself noticing the pull out/gaps from the edges of the etches that don't have crystals in them.
