I remember that this "I don't date black American men" was a big topic on blogs and yt amongst first and second generation African women, specifically Nigerians about ten years ago but quieted down when the ados and later the fba movements started to gain steam. They really got quiet when black American men and women started to hold the magnifying glass up on their culture and started to question why the focus was only on black American men when they also have issues such as high dv and paternity fraud rates within their own communities that were rarely if ever being discussed openly on public forums. I think the last straw was when it was discovered that Christian Obumseli a Nigerian man who was deleted by his white girlfriend made disparaging remarks online about bw but was defended by mostly African women online who wanted justice for him . A lot the comments are African women complaining about her talking down about African men. In reality getting a college education at that time meant very little to an AB because professional jobs were not open to us unless they went to school to become a teacher or preacher. I know this because I'm a third-generation college graduate and my mother and her siblings that finished college were either teachers, preachers or worked as domestics or common laborers until the federal government opened up jobs to blacks. Even if they got professional jobs as teachers or preachers because of segregation their pay was significantly less than whites for doing the same job.
