Thank you for doing this step by step. *Very* helpful for beginners! Most DIY videos with integrated amps skip the "what goes where" part.
That's the most important part.
More great content from DIY Audio Guy! Thanks for the technical information and I look forward to Part 2.
More to come!
Those are cool boards can’t wait to see what you come up with
Stay tuned! I have one more video of the kit -- after that things might get wild.
DIY Audio Guy and Dayton Audio For The Win once again!!
The adventure continues.
Great project great video
Thanks? Have you ever tried one of these little amps? They are pretty handy.
@@DIYAudioGuy I have not but I may try
ok thank you for your time
Interested to hear your thoughts on it when it's fully running.
👍
how do you charge the battery? does the charge cable comes along with the amp package? Is it included or do you need to buy it seperate. What you showed the "dc power connector" is not the something to charge the batteries right?
This helps, but I realized that my board was arranged slightly different. For the control panel part make sure you follow the wiring guide that comes with your kit.
Glad to help
How long does the battery pack last while using the speaker? I want to convert a book shelf speaker I have with a kit. Should I use this one or another one.
I have never unplugged it.
How does this board compare to to the arylic up2stream in terms of power, sound quality and THD at max volume
I don't have any measurements, but I'm going to suspect about the same. The main advantage of the up to stream is the Wi-Fi connectivity and the whole house audio. If you're not going to connect to Wi-Fi then just to get a Bluetooth one from Parts Express.
Awesome video, very helpful, but i have a problem the red charging light on mine never comes up, but it seems to charge just fine, what should i do?
I would reach out to Pats Express, their customer service is fantastic.
I've built a number (more than a dozen) portable speakers using some or all the components of the various parts express kits. I never use the flat packs because fine woodworking is part of my hobby and like to build my own version of their tried and true designs. I've used that control panel on several speakers and its really the best way to complete any speaker using that series of amp boards, other than the latest high-power version that have separate potentiometers. In any case, one caution is that I would not use the control panel in a speaker chamber unless you are prepared to fully coat the inside of the panel with silicone. There's really no way to get it completely sealed with all those penetrations. I build in a chamber for the panel, amp and battery board, sealed and separated from speaker chambers. I realize this particular kit does that, but you need to do the same if you are using the panel is something custom. BTW, PE's 2.1 kits ("executive", and "blast box") are way better, but somewhat more complicated to build.
The flat packs are great for those that don't have woodworking tools.
Hello, thanks for this helpful video.
Question: why are you using crossovers while there is a DSP chip on the KAB board?
This is not one of the DSP boards. I wonder how long before they make a DSP board kit?
@@DIYAudioGuy okay, i thought it looked like one 🙂
Before this video I watched another video with you explaining the DSP board 👍🙂
did you ever get around to programming the dspb?
I have not. I got distracted by another project.
Hello again.
Is it possible for you to do a video on how to connect the following to create a 2.1 bluetooth speaker.
Kab-100mv2 and dspb-250
Cheers.
Not anytime soon. I recommend reaching out to Parts Express tech support and they'll be able to tell you exactly what you need.
Whats the size of the tall risers? The kit isnt available anymore.
I do not know. You can reach out to parts express tech support and they can help.
Hi.
Not sure how else to contact you.
Quick question.
If l am using a 8inch sub with two passive subs on rear of cabnet, do l need port holes.
czcams.com/video/v4rAkxck2_Q/video.html
What's a good way to secure the boards inside speaker if I am not using the product in video?
Not sure what you mean. Even if you don't have an enclosure with the dado's you do the same thing. Apply wood glue then either clamp, nail, or screw to hold everything in place. Once the glue dries the joint will be solid.
@DIY Audio Guy sorry. I meant the Amplifier boards. I am using mdf, so when i rill small holes for standoffs they don't seem secure.
@@DIYAudioGuy so been tinkering and figured I can mount to some ¹/⁸ plastic with standoffs and secure that to MDF.
Great video. Is part 2 available?

Hello, great video, it help a lot, thanks,, , question, what can i do to had a subwoofer and a usb port to this kit?? is it possible ?? thanks for your help and sorry for my english, i'm from Montréal , Canada, thanks for your help
I'm sure there's a way to add those to this kit, but it will be more trouble than it's worth. The kit only has a two-channel amplifier so you would need to figure a way to get signal out of the amplifier and then connect another subwoofer amplifier. I don't think the amplifier that comes in the kit has a USB input or output. For a subwoofer consider a different kit like this one: czcams.com/video/coBRZVkJ-zE/video.html
You might also consider skipping the kit all together and going with an amplifier that can do a little bit more: czcams.com/video/XQE0wvL1iYE/video.html
How do the speaker wires attach to the Bluetooth amplifier board?
It's just a plug.
Dumb question I guess. But thanks for answering. I will have your video running when I do this build tomorrow!
@@gregjerome4258 there are no dumb questions.
Ok. In that spirit, I’m building a box out of 3/4 in Ash. Should i drill port holes in the back or leave it closed?
@@gregjerome4258 I would need a lot more information to answer that question, it's a little too deep of a subject for the CZcams comments.
Hi ! What are the diameter and the length of the bass reflex ports ?
I do not know, you can follow the link above to the kit and it will probably list that information.
@@DIYAudioGuy Unfortunatly, this information is not given 🙁
@@hyatprod2509 That's probably why I don't know it! I never took the time to measure the porch when I was assembling the kit.
is their a possible to add a treble and bass connect? thank you ;)
Not with this board. But Parts Express* does offer a version of the board with DSP, which will do a LOT more just bass and treble.

Another option is arylic, which you can find on amazon*. They offer a line of wifi-enabled amp boards. This one has a separate channel for a subwoofer, which has an independent control.

@@DIYAudioGuy thanks a lot!
@@DIYAudioGuy actually that one has no bluetooth therefore... :(. I need the combination of both.
@@AldiPennyLidl1887 I think they also have a DSP module that can plug into some of their boards. They also sell some stand-alone Bluetooth amplifiers, don't need to build them into a project. Just plug your speakers in.
DSP?
Just picked this thing up for a gift got the thing 90% assembled and littally my cellphone has better sound and louder then the box is there something I'm missing. Hit me back getting rather frustrated and about to send it back or across the room and watch it gernade.
Reach out to parts express, they have excellent technical support.
@@DIYAudioGuy I think the x-overs are junk soon as I disconnect and go straight to the speaker I get 2x sound so thinking on wiring the 2 in series and bypass the x/o's
@@petearmstrong4580 again, reach out to Parts express. If there is a defect they will try to make it right.
couldn't have done that without, because im fcuking stupid.
Glad to help.
