Bushkill Park Review, Eastern Pennsylvania Amusement Park | Open Once Again

- Bushkill Park in Easton, Pennsylvania is an over 100 year old amusement park. This park was severely damaged by floods from 2004-2006 and remained closed for over a decade, but it's open once again. The park is still rebuilding, but it has a collection of rare kiddie rides and America's oldest fun house.
Sorry about the dust spots on the footage. My camera lens cover kept getting stuck all-day, leading to dust getting in there.

as a carousel enthusiast, hearing that they are installing a 100 year old carousel made my week! It’s a rare occurrence for an old carousel to get a new home, but it seems to be a “recent” trend, so that’s good!
True!
That CW Parker Carousel is up and running now!
Thank you so much for mentioning where to go to view their website! That was so helpful! This park is less than 2 hours away from my house, and I've once had the idea of visiting this park. Very glad you got to visit to spread the word.
I went to the wrong site at first and only found out it was wrong from a Facebook fansite.
I was here with my family late 90's early 2000-2002 era...I'll never forget the Barl O' Fun, The Haunted Pretzel, The whip...I am glad it is back up and running and I hope it continues to grow to an Knoebels level size over the years...I have not been back since but now I will...I will be sad to see the clown on the outside of the Barl O Fun gone but I am glad to see the inside looks EXACTLY the same!
I hope they can thrive again.
I’ve been to the park in it’s prime. I was a member of a water rescue team during hurricane Ivan. That was a bad time for the area. Glad to see it opening back up.
I heard it unfortunately was flooded yet again.
@@CanobieCoaster i just drove by it the other day and the sign says open 11-7 and it seemed ok.
For once my shortness works for me, I can get a mild kiddie credit . All the asking people to get things of shelves I can’t reach is worth it.
Lol
How tall are you?
This is giving me nostalgia of memories I didn't even have :) neat place. Friendly staffs are always a plus too
Absolutely
Love how you cover lesser known parks I‘ll most likely never visit as I‘m based in Germany. Still really intersting for a curious theme park enthusiast. Keep up your great work with an unbelievable upload schedule 😱
You're welcome!
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
You're welcome.
Just watched a episode of American pickers. This was on there I searched internet found your post! Thanks it answered lots of my questions!! Neat place!!
It's a fun little park.
Never visited here but for just a few years in the late 70s/early 80s, there was *another* amusement park very nearby--Pocono's Magic Valley, which was at the small but picturesque Winona 5 Falls (access to see the falls was included with admission to the park). It was a slightly more ambitious operation, with a vague turn-of-the-century/Keystone Kops theme, some occasional shows tying into the theme, a bunch of flats and a Schwarzkopf portable coaster, which I did not ride because it was in my coaster-phobic period. I did ride their Wave Swinger. It went out of business after only a short time. It looks like the area is now known as Lehman Park--it's a municipal park and they have some simple recreational improvements and Halloween haunts there.
...I guess it's further than I thought--Magic Valley was very near the town of Bushkill and Bushkill Falls, which is something like 40 miles from Bushkill Park (in Easton). Bushkill Park is actually closer to Dorney Park. Apparently the names come from two separate streams in Pennsylvania, Bush Kill and Bushkill Creek.
I'm glad this park has managed to survive both floods and time.
That park was known as “Magic Valley”. It did a brisk school trip business but honestly wasn’t open that long. I remember the Wildcat coaster, Tilt, Spider and a few others. The park was one simple midway with lots of gravel and was run as a side attraction with the falls. No idea why it closed though.
I would visit for the funhouse alone. I wish they could get the Pretzel rebuilt and reopened. Looking at the scenery makes me want them to also build a narrow gage railway that winds its way through that scenery. Bonus points if they can acquire a vintage train. The modern CP Huntington train rides aren't janky enough for me.
That fun house is a gem.
They need to worry about getting some better rides first. Then worry about a boring train. This park has 0 thrill. I’d be board as a kid in this place. I was wanting to ride the biggest craziest thrill rides since I could walk. 😩😂
@@naughtiasteffano9885"better" is subjective. There are some kids who can spend a couple or few hours there as it is with the few rides and skating. Add in the train and carousel and that adds more options to add more time to spend there. That's what they need to concentrate on, keeping their current demographic there longer not attracting a new demographic, that comes with time. They do want to add more thrilling rides, but more of anything at this point is good while still starting out, can't go too big too fast.
I remember going here every year before it closed during October because they had one of the best haunted park themes in the area
That haunted fun house looks neat.
ITS MIRACLE THAT PLACE IS OPEN. AGAIN. THE FUN HOUSE IS CLASSIC. SO SAD THEY LOST DARK RIDE.
Glad they got the fun house open again.
I love that these old attractions in the country are trying to survive. But the noise from the various events and the music from the skating rink are a nuisance to the nearby homes in the area.
That's unfortunate. Was the park there before they moved in though?
Last I've seen; parts of The Pretzel as well the old Kiddie Coaster are in storage, so it's possible that they might return in the future.
Here's hoping they can acquire another Pretzel or more pieces of a Pretzel from somewhere and build a complete functioning ride.
Hopefully!
I'm glad the folks are friendly, and this has a very laid-back atmosphere. I just don't think I would visit, as there are just too few rides for me to go on. I hope this park can continue to grow.
I would visit in a heartbeat. The real attraction would be the fun house and conversations with employees about the history of the park. My kids can enjoy the spinning rides all they want. I'd get dizzy on them anyway. That vintage kiddy car ride with (I'm guessing) metal cars looks like a beautiful piece of craftsmanship from another time.
That's fair.
2:04 Yay! I can ride it, barely. Thanks for the info. There aren't too many advantages to being under 5'8", but this is one. I'll stop in the next time I'm nearby and also check out the funhouse.
Not sure if they have a stick or use the honor system.
I'm wondering just how many kids from Easton had birthday parties at Bushkill. Western Electric had their family picnic there every year in its heydey.
I could see several doing that.
I'm going there with some friends in the next coming few weeks so j will give you some feed back
Hope you have fun.
Is Chaos crazier than the same model at Knoebels? I don't remember theirs being very intense .
I haven't ridden the Knoebels one in 2 decades, but I don't remember that one being this wild.
I don't know if I've ever seen your face in a video, but I've definitely seen you hop into the back row of Iron Gwazi before! If I spot you in the wild again someday, is it ok to say hi?
Sure! I haven't been down to BGT since May. Not sure when I'll be back.
@@CanobieCoaster hey no worries, but unless I move (to another state to do the same thing), I'll be at the FL theme parks a bunch, so it could definitely happen one of these days!
This place was on an episode of American pickers. Very cool story. Look up bush kill/sideshow banner/
Interesting, didn't know that.
What is the maximum height is for other kiddie rides
I'm not sure. The coaster was the one I specifically inquired about.
Your ccmment about it being a powered coaster made me wonder, would you consider it a credit? I am always fascinated by others reasoning on if coasters are credits or not. I personally think any coaster that looks and feels like a coaster is a coaster (so powered coasters count ) but I am somewhat in the minority
I use that logic too.
Just flooded again a couple months ago.
I heard :(
I had my birthday there LOL
Nice!
Just wish more could be expected by an adult as well as more adult thrilling attractions, but I get its a kid park.
True.
I’m 5’ 8’ let’s go!!
They said under 5'8" so you're right on the edge.
well it just got flooded again. I came here as a kid and also I took my kids here. they just added the carousel. I live 2 min from here
That's sad to hear.
You go to bushkill park for more updates
When I'm in PA, I plan to priotize the larger parks for now.
American pickers. “A banner pick” episode
I'll have to check it out.
That's a lawn mower. Not a tractor
Ah ok!
@@CanobieCoaster lol. Keep up the good work canobie. My son and I really enjoy your channel. Your the man!
Looks boring. They need more exciting rides. Throw in a real kiddie roller coaster firstly. They have a roll o plane (I’m shocked) that’s good! They need a rock o plane, loop o plane, a swinger, sea dragon, Himalaya or flying bobs, a Eli wheel, an octopus or spider and maybe even a zipper. That would still keep the small park/carnival feel but also balance the rides out so older people can enjoy too!
I would love to see them grow.
After last night's flooding, it will be shut down again.
Oh no, not again!
@CanobieCoaster There's video of the flooding of it up here on CZcams.
I think that this park should get a Schwarzkopf shuttle loop…yes I know that it will be a hand me down but they can have a new experience for other people and will be the first ever looping coaster in the park…or maybe an STC!!
Does it look like they have money for that?
A family coaster would be better suited for them.
@@Harrys.Truman-fanpage hey well tripsdrill got an STC and that’s a smaller park…and I think there’s another STC coming yet again to another smaller park
I'm 4ft 10in
So you can ride the coaster then.
