  • Answering theological questions from his students has been a continual commitment throughout Dr. R.C. Sproul’s ministry. Originally called "gabfests" by his early students and later, "Ask R.C.," these sessions continue to take place at our conferences, on Renewing Your Mind, and online. // Thank you to the thousands of ministry friends that watched online and participated via social media for our most recent Ask R.C. event on July 15.
    Introduction (0:00)
    Questions:
    1. In 1 Samuel 28, was Saul talking to the real Samuel or a demon impersonating Samuel? (03:10)
    2. Should the atmosphere of a church be towards the Christian, or the non-Christian? (04:30)
    3. What does “By His stripes we are healed” from Isaiah 53 mean for Christians today? Does it imply physical healing in the atonement? (05:15)
    4. Since your conversion, what are one or two of the most memorable or significant spiritual experiences in your life? (08:45)
    5. Who are your heroes of the faith? (10:23)
    6. If Dr. Sproul were to nail a modern 95 Theses to the Wittenberg door today, what might be his top two to three issues for the church to address? (12:35)
    7. How can we defend the doctrine of sola Scriptura using Scripture? (15:53)
    8. How does the fact that all people know God, based on Romans 1.18, affect our defense of Christianity? (23:46)
    9. In 2 Samuel 6 when King David got the ark back from Obed-edom he then put on an ephod and offered a sacrifice to God. Since he was not a priest, how was that acceptable to God? (29:51)
    10. Does the casting of lots to make decisions still have a place today? (31:30)
    11. Is there any evidence of Adam and Eve’s repentance and faith in Christ after the fall? (34:35)
    12. Do you believe we’re living in the end times that we read about in the book of Revelation? (36:47)
    13. Dr. Sproul, you hold to what’s called a “partial preterist” view of eschatology, is that correct? (41:19)
    14. How does “For many are called but few are chosen” (Matt. 22.14) fit in with unconditional election and irresistible grace? Is the definition of “called” different there then its use in Romans 8.30, “…those whom he called he also justified”? (46:43)
    15. Do you agree with the phrase, “All Scripture is equally inspired, but not all Scripture is equally applicable.” (49:55)
    16. How should the church react to its members who sanction homosexual marriage? (51:44)
    17. Dr. Sproul, could you comment on the significance of ordinary means in our lives, particularly in light of the view that some people espouse that we just need to sit back and wait upon the Lord to do everything for us? (54:14)
    18. Is there a biblical church history that we can follow back to the establishing of the church that does not have ties to Roman Catholicism? (1:03:45)
    19. Why did Dr. Sproul write a children’s book on Martin Luther, and is he going to write any more? (1:06:46)
    20. What is the Reformed view of vocation, and have you ever written a book on that? (1:08: 03)
    21. To what was Jesus referring to when He said in John 3.5, “…unless one is born of water…”? (1:10:20)
    22. How many days was Jesus in the grave, two or three? (1:11:24)
    23. Is there any remnant of the image of God left in man? How does this relate to total depravity? (1:11:59)
    24. Dr. Sproul, what is driving you in your ministry today? Why is the gospel, the holiness of God, and this ministry so important today? (1:14:10)

    Lee Webb has so much talent a warm and wonderful personality I was so happy when he left the false teaching and heresy of of Pat Robertson and CNN. He would never say such a thing and maybe wrong for anyone to in the faith to say it, but when you are born again in the spirit I don’t see how it is possible given enough time you must finally address the correct soteriology and see the truth “The Doctrines of Grace” as Lee has done inspite of working so many years under heresy. I can agree that when living in unrighteousness living one becomes in denial of the truth because of the unrighteous living causing fear, anger, ignorance in the person. In answer to the question #18, I am surprised that R. C. Sproul did not mention the Waldenses and the Albigenses who were "solo scriptura" in their beliefs long before the Reformation (but both groups were pretty much executed by the Catholic Inquisition). Christopher Pinto, the Christian filmmaker, was the first one to make me aware of those groups and I have seen several other references to them in other places.

    Why is it never "debate RC"? The Basics:. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ (NOW!) and thou shalt be saved." Rejecters will not be. Why wouldn't the myriads of similar verses not say "those chosen to believe at creation will be saved"? Because it would be an accursed predestined different gospel! Those that do believe are predestined to be conformed to Christ's image. Believe and trust the Bible, not men! Let God be true and every man a liar!

    Concerning minute 1:11:30, How many days was Jesus in the tomb, three or two? It’s a privilege to have an opportunity to correct R.C. Sproul’s; especially when discerning between what Jesus said about how many days he’d be in the grave, versus what the doctrine of men preconceive against “As Jonas was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth”. Jesus did not say, According to Jewish day tradition, shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. And Jesus did not say, According to Christion belief, Jonas was spewed out of the mouth of the whale Sunday morning. Just as nowhere from the inspired word of God says, Jesus resurrected on a Sunday! The reading of one's own ideas into scripture is exegesis, just as adding words to the scripture come with a curse; while according to the KJV the word [day] was indeed added to the verse. And that Sunday curse makes Christ Jesus a liar.

    Hi, I have two questions, I'll cut to the chase, what would of happened if Adam & Eve didn't part take of the fruit of good and evil?Also if all sin is the same in God's eyes then why will sexual sins will keep a soul entering the Kingdom of heaven and not gluttony?

    • @alexisp696
      @alexisp696 Před 6 lety +1

      Number one - we likely wouldn't exist as humans like we know them, but something more like angels. But this was God's plan for us, that we would be allowed to know evil and have a choice - hard for us to understand, but that's essentially it. As for sin, not all sin is the same in God's eyes, but in principle, a determined and unrepentant glutton will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven just like a chronic drunk, or practising homosexual/adulterer/fornicator.

    • @narrowisthegate4790
      @narrowisthegate4790 Před 4 lety +1

      Clearly, if we had not fallen, everything we know about now would not exist. I cannot guess as to what such a world and life would have been. I do not have a full knowledge of why, but in the whole schema, it is clear that all that has and will happen has always been the perfect plan of God, through Jesus. The fall, the presence of evil, the death and resurrection of Jesus all has the mark of a well defined plan.
      Gluttony, as far as I know is not specifically named, but does get included in coveting, greed, and several other manner of things like that. All sin is equal in the result; Death. Be it murder or a white lie, it all is against the nature of God. Sexual sin holds such a prominence in or mind, and in social mind because sexuality is a personal thing, no one escapes this one. Our designer, God gave us sex, and he gave us a way to fully enjoy sex in such a way that it would not soil us.
      And per the manufacturers recommendations for optimal benefit and use it follows this; one man, one woman under the umbrella of marriage. Sex when indulged in in any other manner always has a very bad habit of causing many more troubles that last always longer than the moments of pleasure that can be gained from it, no matter how sweet that pleasure was. The best sex it's always in a marriage arena.
      In today's arena, we have one other area odd sex and sexuality that is put on us. It's laid out as something that's as natural as all the rest, and to speak against it in today's social climate can bring lots of condemnation and hsrassment from that. And that is homosexuality. It's spoken of very clearly several times. It's disdain from God in its practice is strong, the biggest example it's the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. If you are saved and you believe God and his word, this truth is axiomatic. In spite of how much it is frowned upon in today's social climate. The other part of why sexuality is so prevalent is because once you fall into a particular habit in sex, it's very very very difficult to come out of that easily. It is possible to come out of such, but it is almost universally difficult.

    My ?...why was Joseph & Mary so shocked to find Jesus in the Temple...as a young boy...An angel had come to both of them and especially( Mary KNOWING she had not been with a man )and yet was pregnant ????? angel told her she would have a son and call his name Jesus and He would save his people from their sins? and they even left their home to keep Herod from killing Jesus ?????...makes no sense unless God had hidden this from them later?????

    • @narrowisthegate4790
      @narrowisthegate4790 Před 4 lety +1

      Most likely, Joseph and Mary being regular human parents, and very traditionally Jewish as their heritage and religion, had most likely considered his coming of age at the usual time when he would become a formal Rabbi, or whatever they expected in that realm. Mary did believe that which she was told, as exampled in the first miracle of Jesus. What either parent likely did not think of was the already present divine side of Jesus, that was always there from birth. To find their son at twelve years old, interacting with the Rabbis with such authority and knowledge, that was not the usual. Also you have to consider the absolute great and dread they were feeling, discovering he was missing, and in that time frame getting lost from a traveling group dis not end well often.
      So you have the high emotion of the parents, his gone missing, and then finding him in the temple right alongside the Rabbis and the other religious rank and file which was not the usual.
      Hopefully this helps some fire that question
