I had the flu during this playthrough and it perfectly matched the sheer nightmare of watching him try to beat Eric for like 5 hours straight.

I have a really severe case of covid and just recently watched the entire stream. I was sitting there with a 39° celsius fever watching jerma try and fail over and over and over. The royal flush trick made me happy though

That entire last segment was a perfect parallel to that thing they do in demos where they show a skater bailing a spot dozens of times before playing the full clip when they land it.
Despite being edgy, aesthetically speaking, skating culture was super positive in hindsight; failure is just a part of the process
fun fact: On a 2nd playthrough when you reach the final skate with Eric you skip the fight entirely & opt to just punch him square in the face.

13:29 Really cool to see Jerma acknowledging the impacts skate culture had on the overall pop-culture zeitgeist , as a late 90s early to mid 2000s kid it hurts to see this age of skate and BMX culture not really be prevalent anymore. I miss when everything was advertised as X-TREME!!!!! TO THE MAX!!! But as Garrosh Hellscream once said, times change.
I'm in the graphic design field right now, and "skate culture" is sort of making a comeback as an aesthetic. But it's definitely not the same thing, less "punk" in nature and more for hipsters and hypebeasts.

This very same generation loved to skatr and do extreme stuff... I feel the jackss stunts also had a lot to do with our generation constantly getting hurt. If i didn't constan destroy part my back and legs I'd probably would have gotten much worse. Sad to see times change but they do. It is no longer punk, just some weak hipster thing and the music is horrendous. Even the olimpics... I thought it'd be filled with mid 20's - 30's dudes and playing rock punk in the background while Tonny Hawk, Rodney Mullen and Elisa Steamer tell you your score.... But it's just old people showing 10's to asian pre teenagers who spin harder than a fidget spinner.
Kinda sad but times change. And it's cool doesn't offend me but it makes me nostalgic sometimes.

I remember taking weeks to beat the last mission because if you gentle graze against any obstacle in this game going any faster than 5mph your character gets launched at rocket speed in a random direction.

If I remember correctly, on the “Sick” difficulty you have to do the ending run against Eric as a either one continuous combo or that the timer is set low enough that you need to keep a combo going to win (you can getting going after the timer ends if you still have a combo going) and the bonus for clearing it is your character punches Eric to grab the tape or something along the lines of that
Anyways I have no idea how I cleared it as a kid just to unlock the swamp monster no way I would now lmao
The timer is set to either 1:30 or 2:30, can't remember off the top of my head but it's not _too_ stringent. you might as well restart if you boof it in one of the high parts cause it's hard to get back up there, but you definitely have enough time if you miss one of the ones along the ground
That cutscene actually just plays if you beat the story a second time, regardless of difficulty.
it's one of those things you can do by sheer force of "kid brain". like, as an adult you're like wtf am i doing this for i have homework/taxes to do so you stop but as a kid you grind it until you win.
