      Tekton makes EXTREMELY LITTLE in the US. Proto and Mac make less and less in the US by the day. Mayhew and Snap-On, yes. Also Lang and Channel-Lock.

    Other great brands are Ridgid (pipe wrenches), Eklind allen keys, Garland hammers, Proto (some exceptions), Sure lite strikers, Channellock, Vaughan hammers, Mayhew, Estwing, Cleveland drills, and Lang tool. Probably more that I'm just forgetting. I'm a union millwright with a fully loaded toolbox of USA made tools. It's entirely possible to do.

    I personally feel as though Japanese and German tools have surpassed most of the usa made tools in quality, craftsmanship, and affordability. Many US manufacturers are cutting corners and lacking in quality just to put usa made on their tool.

      @ValgniTehki Před měsícem

      @@puterg0dsame with American tools, warranties for life galore. You're comparing high end brands to the cheap German brands 😂 of course they aren't on par. Snap on etc are bang average compared to the small German High quality brands. I've yet to own an American made tool that's made better than any of the german/Japanese versions I have. Snap on are only really top quality in the US because you don't get the top quality tools made from the smaller German/japenese places. Snap on is sold in most countries yet no one really buys it when they need a high end tool.

      @@ValgniTehki So, are you telling me that Knipex isn't a "German High quality brand"?? I'd really like to know your answer to that...
      And if that is indeed what you are telling me, then ok, explains why my Snap-On needle nose locking pliers are an order of magnitude better than my Knipex needle nose locking pliers. And I would ask, then, pray tell - please provide some brand that ARE, in your opinion, "German High quality brands".

    • @ValgniTehki
      @ValgniTehki Před měsícem

      @@puterg0dknipex isn't a high quality brand like snap on. I didn't say they aren't good quality, I'm pointing out you're comparing two brands that are miles apart price wise. Compare snap on to the smaller German brands that make tools that cost the same as snap on but are better. My snap on ratchet lost its head after about 2 months, I've never had a german or japenese tool brand that has let me down. The US are only ranked the 4th best country for making the best quality hand tools. Japenese steel is regarded as the best steel in the world and the fact most of these German brands are using japenese steel sets them apart from American tools before they are even made. You can find small hand tools Companies all over Europe and Japan that make better quality tools. Was only a few months ago that the American magazine garage tools rated European mechanics tools as being superior to American made ones. Europe and Japan have been making them for a lot longer so know how to make great tools. At the start of this year snap on released a new tools which they claimed was revolutionary and a world's first, they then realised after Europeans pointed out that the same tool has been in use for the last 55 years in Europe. In the US companies are allowed to claim anything on the adverts or packaging, like 20volt batteries that didn't exist because it was actually 18volts, the rest of the world doesn't allow tool brands to lie about anything.

    Pardon my ignorance, but why is that so important? 99% percent of our goods are imported 🤷🏾‍♀️

    • @gtcam723
      @gtcam723 Před měsícem +4

      Fit, finish, quality. Best quality tools primarily come from the US, Japan (Koken and Vessel), and Sweden (Bahco)
      A couple brands with multiple countries sourced
      Wiha (mostly Germany, Switzerland, and Poland - some Taiwan), and Wera (Germany and Czeck Republic)
      US brands can get weird. Snap On has a lotnof US made stuff but also owns Bahco. Stanley Black and Decker owns Mac, Dewalt, Proto, Craftsman, Facom, USAG and a few others. Most of them have both imported products and US made products. And there a noticeable difference once you start using the tools.

      As the percentage made here dwindles, I attach more importance to it, not less. Nobody is going to get very far refusing to buy anything that isn't made here, but choosing to do so when you can and it makes sense can be a win-win, helping our economy and getting you a high-quality product from a manufacturer who will likely stand behind it.
