Vingegaard Shows Pogacar Who's Got Balls

  • Jonas Vingegaard has won stage 11 of the Tour de France 2024 after an exhibition time cut on Tadej Pogacar, the yellow jersey who made a tremendous Tadej Pogacar attack 35 km from the finish on the Puy Marie, but Vingegaard quickly cut him off with a sidereal ascent of the Col de Pertus. Remco Evenepoel and Primoz Roglic, with a new crash, performed very well but could not keep up with the pace of the two great monsters of world cycling. Jonas Vingegaard is back and has shown Pogi who has balls.

How this era cleaner than 90s and 00s? All around monsters being beasts in all type of races through the whole year; guys being able to attack basically all days in GTs when we have the minimal hill and transforming stages into a 1vs1 never ending duel with change of pace at any hairpin bend, all that in GTs where hard stages basically happen from the start and the very first day; others doing all the three GTs at top level and even winning the last after being a top domestique in the previous ones; riders entering TdF without races for a good month and being immediately ready to perform at the highest level...
The cycling we used to see with two weeks of sleepy flat stages and fireworks among the big names on four-five stages in the third week was way more natural regardless the amount of EPO or other stuff.
Just talking by eye test, spectator and cycling amateur POV.
I know you were sarcastic, but I'm actually asking why they have to picture one era as the darkest age of cycling when what happens these days is hilarious.

Alot has changed since that era, 1 being more aero bikes leadign to faster stages, second all stages are shorter making tdf less tough than back then, third they fuel by massive amounts of carbs per hour to keep energy levels high compared to then the understanding of that was non existant.
All records on any significant mountain in the 90s are unbeatable, they only break records on climbs not raced in the 90's Or mountains that wasnt competitive in this era. The records on the big ones from the 90s are completely untouchable by even pogacar and vingegaard they can only get within about 2 minutes.

@@cyclinghighlights Perhaps talent, modern science about training and nutrition wins in modern times?
There in no rumors in modern cycling, no fancy and secret new drugs, back then, everybody knew something was going on.
      Perhaps times has changed?
There are cheaters but usually lower ranked, they get caught. And they are using the old stuff.
      TDF tests everybody constantly.
Take Vingegaard. Some years back, he was a rather bad racer, having a day job in a fish factory. Raced in the lower ranked local clubs.
Denmark is flat and windy,- he was nothing special. Too small.
Then the club tested him in Alicante hill climb. Vingegaard broke all records,- the old EPO rider records too.
He was a born climber, not a sprinter, not a time trial specialist, not a huge body crushing trough the wind on a flat windy road. He had his wins in Tour de France climbing.
How about praising him? 3 months ago he thought he was dying. Laying on the road, broken collarbone and ribs. Punctured lung. 6 weeks in IR, surgery and rehabilitation.
Then only 6 weeks of training before TDF. And he is doing fine.
And the morons just scream "doping". Perhaps it is the incredible determination and ability to endure pain. After those injuries, most people would still be on sick leave. Complaining and suffering. Jonas just won stage 11 in TDF.

I thought you'd have more hindsight and not grossly overreact like everyone else who tries to sell this product does. Pogaçar's move was way too arrogant and suicidal (and a real display of balls, not like the Dane's defense afterwards) but that doesn't mean Vingegaard can drop him tbh. And if last year is anything to go by, it is not because the injured one has a good day that he will have these legs every day.
I think if Pog attacks on Pertus like with the Galibier he takes 30 secs. Now he should ride defensively
