      All if these electronics problems are not a problem on motorcycles and modern bike have sophisticated traction control systems with 6 axis gyros, engine management and abs systems. They're ridden in the rain mud, snow etc. Theres nowhere for condensation buildup on these vehicles like cars.

    • @Wrenchingandnursing
      @Wrenchingandnursing Před 19 dny +1

      @@hochhaul I do electric and transmissions as a specialty. The new Tacomas have incredibly weak transmissions. The torque converters in them are made of play doh, and their camera and accessory circuits have horrible insulation quality control and the modules for the cameras themselves are pathetic quality compared to what we expect out of Toyota. They still are probably the most consistent brand for quality, but they have taken a stark nosedive compared to their last 20-30 years.
      I don't have brand loyalty because they all make great stuff, and they all make bad stuff. The newest generation of Colorados are amazing trucks and I have a ZR2. The quality is hands down the best in the category in my professional opinion, but the great irony is that the colorados before 23 were probably the worst truck ever made with the 3.6, trans, and electrical problems it was plagued with from start to finish. We could pick any brand and find a long history of greatness and failure.

      Breaking down a circuit into parts to narrow down the location of a fault is the number one technique in any systematic electrical or electronics fault finding. No matter if it's your hallway and kitchen lights at the house or a complicated data network. Figure out how the wires run and start splitting to see which part has the fault. Then split that again, until you've got the culprit. Of course knowing potential causes of a specific symptom is also necessary, like in this case "loss of communication could either be caused by faulty wires or by a faulty module" and knowing how to distinguish between the two, in this case measuring the circuit's resistance to rule out the physical wiring bit.

      @@Dr_Reason Neither is Toyota. the 3rd gen Tacoma was rated least reliable midsize truck by Consumer Reports 4 years in a row for engine issues, trans issues, howling and leaking rear diffs. All Tacomas are now imported from Mexico. The 2022-2024 Tundra are eating crank bearings and Toyota likes to play dumb and accuse you of causing the failure even though it's common knowledge that the engines are failing. As a DIYER, I hate the fact that all the modules need programming. I get the PCM, BCM, but the others can easily be self learning. That isn't a complex module that should need programming. Thanks Eric for making this video.

    Whenever I'm training new folks, I make it a point to drill into their heads: "GMs like naps." Got a code that won't clear even though you know the fault is fixed? Let the car take a nap. Car acting like it's posessed after programming? Let the car take a nap. GMs work hard, they need lots of sleep!
    As for your passenger presence module issue, as long as you have the VIN in SPS2, might be worthwhile attempting a seat weight sensor calibration. These older bladder-style sensors fail quite frequently, and if they fail way into negative numbers, it can trip a false "internal failure" code. If you're bored, and live data is kind enough to give you an actual calculated weight value, sometimes you can even tease them back into calibration! :D

    • @hochhaul
      @hochhaul Před 20 dny

      Brand loyalty is moronic and Toyota trucks have been trash in recent years. The Tacoma is now an import from Mexico and was rated least reliable midsize truck by Consumer Reports for 4 years in a row, and the 2022+ Tundra has been having engine failures left and right, and Toyota frequently accuses the owner of being at fault even thought they know the crank bearings are failing due to bad engineering.

    Just funny I was scrolling through videos yesterday trying to figure out what cleaner you were using. Couldn’t find it for the life of me but here we are today. I’m from the south so we don’t see much corrosion but once in a while we do. I had just a slight amount yesterday on a speed sensor and was looking for what you had used in other videos. I snagged a can of the the yellow DeoxIT which is probably different its just what I had stumbled across at the time. I’ll check on the D5 version tomorrow.

    Been using DeOx-it for 40 years now, back when it was called Cramolin. I have yet seen anything that works better in all that time. Back then they just had red and blue. Red was for cleaning corrosion and blue was for new connections to prevent corrosion or for after using the red.
    There had to be a ground loop thanks to the corrosion that affected the power steering. After working on Land Rovers for so long that is pretty much the first thing I look for. Defenders have the craziest grounds and you can see all kinds of problems.

    Be prepared to see many more Traxes and Encores in the future GM has a corrosion problem with the modules & also the differential cases corroding through. They have issued service bulletin's and are replacing the complete assembly under warranty only in Canada from what I understand. As i haven been told we in the U.S. don't require as much road salt. I had to replace the rear diff on my 2016 Trax to the tune of $3K. I filed a complaint with the NHSTA to no avail. Thanks for the great videos.
