    Yes, Danny, ventilation fans certainly help in the greenhouse. They help to keep the condensation down,and are nice when the temps are too cool to open everything up. The also help to keep those big fans from kicking on - even just for a bit, that saves power. We leave them on even when the big fans are on during the heat. Your greenhouse tour was great. Everything looks wonderful. Thank You guys!

    For your mulberry cuttings, maybe try clear cups inside red solo cups so you can just slide it out to check for root growth.

    we had 2.5 inches of rain last evening in about an hour's time It was biblical. trees came down all around me - so thankful they missed me (this time). I'm in Northern IL. every plant I have outside was smashed down to the ground. thankfully only a few things broke, the rest I have propped up. fingers crossed. love you and Miss Wanda.

    The mulberry cuttings- take the clear cups and just sit them inside the red cups- then you can just lift the clear cups out to see the roots- They don't like their roots to see sunlight- so you trick them like they are in the ground and the roots will grow faster.

    I got my mom 2 plum & 2 cherry trees 7 years ago and we haven’t gotten any plums because of some sort of sickness or something. The year we bought them Caterpillar’s got them bad. They were so bad in our area chunks of caterpillars where falling off the trees along roads and made it sound like it was raining but it was all the bugs hitting the car. So it took a while to get started. I’m watching as many videos as I can to find help but nothing distinctive yet.

  • @ladydaggerstatus
    @ladydaggerstatus Před 4 lety +2

    For the SOLO cup issue- you plant the cutting in the clear cup with wholes then you place it in the red cup. The red cup creates that below ground darkness for the roots. And because you have the clear cup, you can see if the cuttings are rooting.

  • @cindybonem494
    @cindybonem494 Před 4 lety +2

    The wind from the fans will make the stems and stalks of all of the plants and trees stronger so they won’t fall over as easily, it would be great if you could make the fans oscillate. Picture standing in a wind storm and how you have to brace yourself the plants do the same thing and they grow stronger because of it. Your greenhouse is very inspirational.

    I just planted a Pakistan Mulberry a couple of weeks ago, I have a regular mulberry but Pakistan has fruit up to 4 inches long. I also planted last month 2 long yellow neck figs. I don't plan on eating either one, they are for the critters here. I still can't believe you don't have Loquats, as far north I am from you the past 3 years my huge tree was loaded. I am also very curious about your Apricot trees?

      Melissa Honey Thanks. I have one too and it seems to have stages that I don’t understand. I’m in7B so the first year I brought it indoors in winter. It blossomed but no fruit. Outside this year it blossomed again...no fruit. Now it is growing bushier and taller and is really pretty and I’m wondering if it will ever fruit. Sigh.

      Mine does have roll up sides. They roll up 3 ft that's why we have the 3 ft screen is to keep out insects while it's up. I would not build one without it.

Here it is almost July, while our daytime temps. are "Somewhat" normal, our night time temps. keeps dropping into the low 60's and even 50's (it was 60 last night, this is April type of weather), we even had a hard Frost May 9th.
