I'm just in amazement.. the intro is timeless and epic and the setting makes it feel so real. Would have been a highlight of one's life to have been there in the first 9mins of this.

Anti-laptop people need to chill out not every producer/artist can afford hardware
Laptop is for losers today you can have a drum machine, a poly keys and a bass line all for 450 €
none of that bs matters. at all. perhaps some people will say it does and then five more people will repeat it, but its a garbage argument. Ill give that some people prefer to work with the tactile feedback and familiarity analog gear supplies thats fine but that would be more of an exception than a rule. by the way some drummer somewhere hates your drum machine and he has a much better argument to stand on.
mmmm Laptops ar for a sad people that's do sad music with a sad programs under privative licencies. what your prefer the original intrument or the digital reconstruction

Why the hell is everyone so against laptops?
People assume that all laptop live sets are press play and look interesting.
It's a bit silly because a similar amount of ahead of time programming is needed to do a set like this with hardware or software.
About the "laptop thing", does anyone know what kind of machine he uses to replace it. Looks like a kind of sequencer, but I cannot figure what it is exactly.

Bla bla Bliblu It is such a powerful machine. You get what you pay for!
Bla bla Bliblu you can replace the laptop with any akai mpc 500. 1000. 2500. 4000 and 5000.. he is using the mpc 500 as a complement of the octatrack... or if you want something cheaper than a electron octatrack, you can buy a roland sp 404, 505, 606... but i prefer the akai mpc 1000, for me is the best sequencer.. sorry about my english, my natural language is spanish..
Romulo Tamini The advantage of the MPC series is the great pads, multiple MIDI outs (on some units), and fantastic sound quality. The Octatrack excels at real-time improvisation, real-time sampling, live performance, and time-stretching.

is he using pre recorded song structures or triggering the song parts on the go?
So the song structure is likely laid out with every voice having a pattern that loops - but he is actively advancing through those patterns and probably throwing in some novel flair.
The octotrack is playing the main sequences and the mpc1000 is running loops and samples. chords and leads are coming from the keys, which appears to be the Mofox4. Reverb and delay from the roland space echo. and pitch correction for vocals from the boss ve20.

The TM blue sides tell me it's a Soundcraft Mixer. Probably a 8-10 channel. I am unable to give you the model but, hope that helps. ;0)

kingrueone That is the keyboard version of a usually desktop synth called the Mopho. it has the noticeable specificity of bearing four core engines of its desktop counterpart, thus cleverly called the Mopho X4. Nice baby, but there are more effective Dave Smith's instruments around for the same range of price nowadays.
