- Boise Idaho skateboarding demo at Streets for People. Honestly, the only folks who would be remotely interested in this are those who are either in the video or were part of the skate scene in Idaho in the 80s, and even that's a stretch.
BTW, that's my car and I'm driving it. And skating on it. - Hudba
We none of us expect to be in smooth water all our days.
There are posters for "Legal Eagles" and "Karate Kid 2" hanging up at 8th st Cinemas - this is the summer of 1986
Thanks. I had kind of figured out yesterday it was probably '86, based on who was in the video and when I had my Rambler. I just fixed the title.
These sessions sure bring back memories. I was 11 yo when this was filmed, by then I had been skating for about 4 years, rippin’ the ramp doing bunch of tricks (e.g., judos, antis, airwalks, rockets, methods, and so on). I’m 47 now and still shred once in a while with my son. Great times! Thanks for sharing! 👊🏻✌🏻
For those who no longer live in Boise, in July 2003 the 8th Street Cinemas were torn down and replaced with a Regal Theater. The houses you see here are gone too, replaced by a PF Changs and other businesses. The Warehouse building is intact; it was declared a landmark so the developers built around it.
Boise got gentrified by hipsters. A tragedy that swept the nation like shopping malls.
This is Skateboarding history straight from the old days. I'm totally remembering the 80s vibe watching this. Even tho I was about about 6 years old at the time I was already skating for 2 years and as much as I could. I still remember the 80s skate scene like it was just a few years ago. Time sure flies by pretty fast. I'm 43 now and still Skateboarding as much as I can. Hopefully in another 36 years from now I can say that same, if I'm still blessed to be walking among the Earth.
You will.
So crazy how much skating has progressed as a whole. I was born just a few years after this and grew up skating in the early 90s. My mom wouldn’t let me skate because she thought it was too dangerous but my dad snuck me a board for my bday and I never stopped.
If I could turn back the clock. I think 86 was best year of my life. I was living in california and skating was booming.
Looks the same as us in Virginia, thanks for for sharing the memories!
Excellent footage from this era, the music, art & culture lends to a nice cool timid vibe...
19:53 "annnnd, back to the action!" 👀
Lolol! 😂
Thanks for posting this. I'm from South Carolina and never even been to Idaho but still found this interesting. Cool car!
I think this is the same main street they took that famous photo in front of Twin Galaxies video game scoreboard.

I’m from Columbia SC. Video is rad.
Not from Idaho. Still find it interesting. I started skating a year after this and it’s just cool to see what everyone else was doing. Pretty cool we all kinda did the same thing without the internet. Traveling as a kid, always saw kids in each region dressed and talked a little different but skaters were the same everywhere. Whether I was in Atlanta seeing my moms family or in the northeast for my dads the skaters all had a look and a vibe that was universal. Now everyone in the country has the internet so everyone follows the same trends. We all did that with very little media coverage. Dope look into the past.
Im interested !! And Im from Ohio lol wasn't there . I love mid 80s Punk Rock era skateboarding!!
Excelent! Thanks for the file! Greetings from México 🇲🇽
simple times, love how everyone is rocking chucks
Man this is GREAT!! thank you for posting!
Very cool session. Looked fun!
well the sports sure come a long way since then.. thank god :P
Wow, thanks for sharing!
Master of puppets. Those were memorable times thanks for posting.
If I could go back in time it would be these days ! So epic and people were cooler It sad to see our country the way it is now people just don’t have class these days
se huele a sábado sin duda alguna!!! el skate siempre ha sido una especie de festejo!!!
this is pure skateboarding, even if the tricks are so primitives. Skateboarding doesn't need to be tech and stuff, just rolling on the roof of a car is rock n roll, it's just nowadays we are use to kickflip and handrails but in my opinion this is way cooler because it's just simple fun and having a crowd to inspire young kids and piss off olk folks is the icing on the cake.
Thanks. You get it.
Awesome video. Thanks
This is fantastic!
wild, young, free..
Oh my fukin god I remember that car! I remember a couple Saturdays you parked it directly in front of the RecEx and spent hours doing this stuff. We were all inside, going "fukin kids". Thanks for the memory! This is LIam BTW.
GarColga Hello, Sunshine! LOL.
I'm remotely interested and wasn't there and am not from Idaho! But I'm (almost) from that era and love watching old skating vids from all eras.
Looks like fun.
Anyone knows what's the song starting at 4:50? I'll be happy to know.
This videos blowin up!!
Sick!
Around this time there was a skate shop downstairs in or near that 8th street market place. I used to go there and hang out for hours as groms do when my folks would take me to Boise. Does anyone know what that place wha called? IStoked to randomly find this vid.
It was called Spikes. I don't believe it was there at the time of this video, but they moved in soon thereafter.
It looked a bit rough for sure. But fun. Those were the days for sure.
Did yous put anything, like duct tape, on the car's windshields to keep it from breaking? In about '88 we had a demo/contest in Boulder CO with a car. Some guy launched up to the car's front end and somehow punched his arm through the windshield causing a severe gash with lots of blood. They shut the demo down for about 5 minutes to roll him outta there and put duct tape over the hole and on the windshields, then started it back up and finished it, lol!
No. Luckily never broke or cracked the front or rear window.
This is the year I got my first skateboard a blockhead Sam Cunningham mini, I was 10 and lived in Paradise California, What a cool time...Kids were cooler back then today their so easily offended…
What city is this or state
who would think anyone in idaho would know Last Stand 7"
We had a solid punk scene in Boise, as early as 1982, if not earlier (Ramones played in Boise in the 70s). There wasn't a lot of us, but we were there. As were speedcore legends Septic Death.
I'm interested in this and I'm a Indonesian Pygmey on Sentinel Island.
I wonder if that car is still around
Nope. It was mine and the suspension broke in 1987 or so while I was driving (all that jumping around on it), and I had it towed to the junkyard as a nuisance car and got paid 100 bucks for removing blight.
Someone made an absolute fortune off of painter caps n the mid 80s.
LOL. The one I was wearing was a free Skinny Puppy promo cap from the college radio station I worked at. But, yeah.
4:20 MK1 Jetta
4:26 Biggest air contest winner 🤣🤣🤣
Ha ha ha. That's Dave Nakashima. Skated with me almost every day, even if we weren't that great.
aah yes, the 'painter's hat' 80s style...HAHAHA!!
The one I'm wearing I believe was a cheap ass Skinny Puppy promo item they sent the radio station I worked at.
This must have been before Rodney invented the kickflip lol
Jodie Foster Army, best t shirt!
I still have it, because that's me!
Very cool to know about It!! ❤ Cheers from Brazil!!!
That child looks so unimpressed
People were so skinny.......
Lets go skate in LA.
fuck LA
Like 300 bails on a 4ft qtr lol
I think I saw one, maybe two tricks landed in the whole thing, ha!
Nobody knew how to ollie.
Yeah not one single Ollie in the video..just all the other tricks 😂
I skated in the late 80’s and I dont remember being this lame
Congratulations. Nobody cares.
If you're going to put on a demo for people............make sure you're good. Jesus Christ!!!!
That was back when cops thought skateboarders were terrorist..ha
