They were a Norwegian Band. This was there Biggest World hit & their 1st International release. The Animations were done in Australia at the Movie World Studio's on the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. The song was recorded in London. The film Clip won the 1986 Grammy for best film Clip. The 1st & only Norwegian Band to win a Grammy. It also won 6 MTV Awards. It reached No1 in Australia & Britain in late 1984. It reached No1 in the US in early 1985.

I can highly recommend a live performance they did a few years ago, on MTV Unplugged(the video is on their own channel), which gives the song an entirely different vibe.

Even though this was made back in the dawn of music videos, it's still miles better than most stuff that gets made these days. It's gotta be one of the best 5 music videos of all time. I LOVED this a kid back when it came out. The synth riff instantly takes me back to playing with my Star Wars figures in my folks' living room while this plays on TV.

You need to watch the MTV Unplugged version of this. It will blow your mind. I never knew two versions of the same song could evoke so many different feelings.
How retro are we going here? There's a ton of Oldies (like 50s, 60s) I'd love you to watch. I'm only 31 myself, but that's one of my favorite genres.

Yes...anything by the Police! Maybe it's the era we live in now, but my husband I joke that "Every Breath You Take" is Sting's Stalker Song. Don't even get me started on our take on "Don't Stand so Close To Me"..... LOL. The Police and Sting are in my top 5 most talented and amazing musician's list. Great recommendation!

It's weird because the Frankie Goes to Hollywood's "Relax" made people flip out in the 80's, but the Lolita stuff (so many examples) makes people flip out today. Interesting how things have changed, except the flipping out part. People consistently keep flipping out over music, art, movies and literature. I digress! I love Sting and the Police, the music and lyrics. Great stuff!

Honesty time. I hated this when is new, but now I think " what a clown I was" and it was all to keep up an image being a 24 carat meatlhead. Love the video, even if it's looking dated now. If I may be so bold, I can recomend one from about the same time from a band that were very underrated. They're called Icehouse, and the song I have in mind is "Hey little girl". You might not like it, but not many did as the band didn't go that far.
Graham, you can be a 24 carat metal head and if you analyze before you criticize you can therefore enjoy music that you never thought you would. Have loved this song since it first came out. May I suggest a lesser known Duran Duran song called The Chauffeur, Nobody's Diary by Yazoo and Kraftwerk's The Model. Opera 2 by Vitas is one I adore (but any of his songs make you go 😲 or 😳)

I'm 44 now I remember being in 1st grade everytime I'd hear it I would stop whatever I was doing to sit at the top of the stairs so I could hear the radio the loudest and just lip sing my little heart out when I learned the words of course 😆. I think the popularity of this song besides being a great tune is that the video just smashed barriers in the video genre of the time with MTV being the most influential marketing tool at the time.... Sometimes a great video could elevate a mediocre song or as in the case of Billy Squires - pretty much end a career....
