- Like most toddlers, Ivy loves the water, but in her case bath time can only last a few seconds. Her skin turns red with painful blisters when it comes into contact with water. Her parents say all water, hot or cold, causes Ivy to have a severe allergic reaction. It’s so severe; it even impacts her when she cries, according to her parents, Brittany and Daniel Angerman. Ivy's baby sister, Grace doesn't have the condition. #InsideEdition

I think the worst part would be learning to suppress emotions. She will grow up avoiding crying which is so psychologically dysfunctional. It’s almost like whether she holds it in or not, she is “s self harming” in a way. In addition, her relationships with everyone must be so strained. Incan’t imagine the terrible pent up feeling from both people that would come from, for example, dating (this is true with all types of relationships as well). Her partner would try not to express annoyance or frustration with her, and therefore could never sort out the problems and fix them, and she would never let her feelings out to her partner, which is one of the most important parts of bonding. I really can’t imagine. It’s so much worse than just taking baths a different way or not getting to swim with friends.

For now. It tends to get worse over time. There's an elderly woman with this who drink diet soda exclusively because it's about the only thing she can drink.

It's a real cruel twist of fate that this little girl loves water so much only to be allergic to it :(((
I used to break out in hives from water…it didn’t start until I was about 17 years old and just suddenly started out of the blue…I had it for about 25 years!…I got them after showers…swimming in pools…the ocean etc…but I finally realized it wasn’t actually the water I was allergic to…it was the quick change in the TEMPERATURE that my skin reacted to…so it was the cold or hot water temperature change on my skin that I was actually reacting to and not the water…once I started to only use room temperature water it completely stopped happening…and this gave my skin had a chance to heal…in time it mysteriously finally stopped and ended almost as abruptly as when it started.
I'm really glad that you no more suffer from the condition. But did you get your condition diagnosed or reached the conclusion yourself? It must be really hard to live with out for that long.
Also I don't think that's the case with the little girl since she has been diagnosed by doctor.

I can honestly say I have never even heard that this is possible. That poor little sweetheart. I appreciate that the parents as well for taking such gentle loving care of Ivy. She is absolutely precious. I hope that some day she will simply grow out of it and she will be able to enjoy life to its fullest

I was in glasgow royal infirmary with covid and because I wasn't allowed to leave my room for a showeran orderly gave me this foam stuff and some paper towels and you put it over your body and wipe it off to clean yourself. It's totally water free and still washes you. Hopefully they can find this product and use it on her

I understand what she's going through. As a child I could never really be a child - I couldn't go out and build snowmen like all the other kids were doing in the winter, and whenever I tell others about my condition they don't believe me. I feel alone and trapped, as if I'm the only person in the world living with it. I wish her the best and I hope she knows that she's not alone.

Some times people grow out of allergies, a friend used to be allergic to tomatoes but now she’s just fine. So maybe it’s possible for her to grow out of it.

@@nataliahalim9267 yes it is sad to look back on what you had lost but for me, it is sadder when you're just wondering, thinking what's the feeling of doing this, doing that or experiencing it. It's the saddest for me to just wonder how it would've feel like. At least if I had a memory I can say "ah... I can still remember those wonderful days". But anyway, people have different opinions so I won't say that your wrong because your right in your own perspective and I'm right on my own.
