BEST EXPLANATION IVE EVER HEARD!!!!! HANDS DOWN. AND IVE BEEN WATCHING VIDEOS AND TRYING TO LEARN FOR 30 YEARS. THANK YOU FOR THIS
COuldnt agree more. There are so many junk videos out there that try to explain stingers, draw, fade etc and they ultimately say nothing at all. I think a lot of these other youtubers are just good at golf and dont necessarily know how they hit the shots so they cant explain it.
After watching that first video you made with Eric learning the shot shapes months ago, I used that draw setup with a 9 iron to hit a green with a tree right in front of me. It was the only option I had, the ball could just not start left with my usual out to in ball flight or I was dead.
I had never even tried it before. I trusted the shot and hit this beauty of a high baby draw landing soflty on the green.
One of the best shots I have ever made/felt.
The quality of your videos golf wisdom wise is getting ridiculous Matt.
Legend
Nice shot playa.
I had the same feeling on course when Eric showed it to me the first time.
And yes it is ridiculous I agree.
You missed the 6 most common shots in golf. The knife. The fat. The duff. The chunk. The 50 yard slice and not forgetting the snap hook.
Also the WORM BURNER!!!! Unless you already listed that one under a different name haha
@@B-RundensLyfe What a shot that is!
@@thehairygolferdrive that rolls and hops like 150 yards down the fairway at the speed of light
To play the part of a rookie you have acting skills to shame Jack Nicklaus in The Shining. Quite outstanding. Whattaplaya

great video! and great lesson. perfect breakdown.
You make amazing videos, I love how you actually film your lessons. Instead of you just telling us what you did in your lesson like so many others.
Golf game is so much better since watching you.
10:44 was such a clutch question to ask. Was wondering about the grip positioning. Great video brotha!!
Whatta combo - EU’s greatest Thai-based Lithuanian South African - teaming up with Malaysias best Aussie for a United Nations shotshaping masterclass . Tommy Fleetwood, eat your heart out.
I have a hard time believing Mattie Boom Boom doesn't know these shots already. :D Thanks for acting your part for the video.
Sir I’m only a 16 handicap so i only knew how to hit each one at the wrong time
@@GolfSidekick1….6 handicap 😂
I like the instructional videos!
Bro hits it dead on the screws every time with a really unassuming swing. This guy could be a serious hustler.
@@mattwagner5332 sir i took the screws out my club. should i put them back in??
probably one of the best videos and explanations Ive seen with club face and path..well done
I appreciate the content you’ve added the past couple of weeks, so many on the interweb are talking distance, speed , 30 yards more. So thankyou for being sensible and teaching us things we really need🏌️♂️⛳️
That range! So pristine!! Where is that? All I can stare at, is the grass… After seeing this facility, I don’t want to go to the local muni and hit off dirty mats…
Thanks so much for putting this on video and then making a visual print out of it too! You are amazing
Outstanding video! Best I’ve seen on ball shapes. Thanks Matt.
Pure gold. Thanks Matt and Eric!!!
This is the kind of videos that most of us really need. Awesome work yet again, Matt.
Legend!
This is fantastic. What a wonderful coach. Thank you to you both.
I’m gonna be rewatching several times, love this game. Great video bro
Great video. So simple to understand. Cheers playa
I like to move the ball on the course as needed. This is a great video and it will take practice to dial it in. He is 100% correct the straight ball is easier if you can learn what moves the ball around. Eric is a baus!
This is the most concise, helpful video I have seen in sometime. Kudos for your efforts. Great job!
Thnx Boys great Vid! Im looking sooo much forward to my next rangesession, right now.
What a super teacher he is !!! You are very lucky to have this cat. Pay him well !! Thank you for sharing all you share.
The playas have been visiting him at his driving range and fitting studio. He is well supported by the community of playas!!!
This was absolutely brilliant. Thanks for this info. Plenty for me to experiment with.
Hello Matt. This was amazing to watch. Unbelievable. Glad the Head of the Waddaplaya movement has a great advisor. 😊😊😊
This is "Gold!" Great instructor! I can execute different fade shapes, but my draw looks straight, but now I can make it shape. Thank you, Matty, Joe Frisina in PA
I love watching your videos brother. By far the best explanation!!! I'll be rewatching this
Great 👍 video Matt. Really awesome instruction. Thanks. 😊
Great video , great instructor
This videos packed...awesome stuff...thanks for the post!
KAHBOOM!!! Gametastic fountain of knowlege once again you have both done it .
Great information, very helpful and what a beautiful practice range.
Really enjoyed this thanks for bringing quality content to life!
Thanks Eric and Matt , fantastic instructions I can’t wait to try these shots , I will watch it a few more times First, as these is a lot going on here even though it looks simple cheers guys
PDF download is coming to the course with me this weekend 💪💪
So very helpful. Thanks much.
What a lesson thank you for sharing
this is fun! definitely going to play with this on the range!
EXCELLENT VIDEO AND GREAT POINTS AND TIPS
Damn, this is one of your bests videos. Thanks for sharing!
Please make more videos with this teacher! specially for noobs like myself. I am having trouble hitting the center face of the driver
When I'm having trouble hitting the center of the driver out on the course I'll choke down a bit and then try to get to the range soon thereafter. Our range has buckets of water for cleaning clubs and I'll dip my driver into the water and then take a swing - all to see where I'm making contact. I'll repeat this a couple times for both normal and choked down grip positions to determine if where I position the club behind the ball and how far forward the ball needs to be for 'stock' straight ball flights . Then I'll do the water tests for draws and fades. Just a suggestion that helps me reset things again.
Thanks for allowing us to learn along with you
Oh guys, this is pure gold. I can't thank you enough for this detailed and understandable explanation of how to play Tiger's 9 window drill. I got this drill from a coach years ago. But unfortunately, he couldn't explain it as well as you two. I'll try it out on the range in the next few days.
This is a great video. Thank you
Great teacher and even better student
Great video! Thank you playa!
The best video you have so far.
Top 2
As close to perfection as you can get. Magical
Someone sent me your video clip, and now I am addicted. This is real-life golf, not all the swing tips, etc, that you mostly found on the internet.
exactly playa
there are no swing tips that i tell you to use on this channel
We believe we count shots on the golf course, not swings
Thanks for the pdf you legend
Pure gold dust Matty, great to see Eric again too..
great vid! thanks for this
What an amazing video Matt! Thanks for sharing. Going to practice this the next time I’m at the range. I’ve always understood these concepts from face path to club path images, but never really understood how to put them into practice. I do have a question about where do focus when attempting these shots? In front of the ball, on the ball, or underneath/behind the ball?
This is one I'll be coming back to as I figure them out. Thanks Matt!
Just the simplest possible way by keeping variables constant without too much complication
I'd love lessons from Eric
Great video MBB! Appreciate the downloadable file, too.
fantastic just what i need
Incredible free content. Whaddaman
This is the best video I have ever seen on ball fight control
This GOLD Jerry! GOLD!!!!
Great content!
Played my best golf ever today using the draw-setup , thanks playa
The draw is the hardest one for me but the comment about higher loft makes so much sense. Another great video
Never heard of opening the face for a low shot. It makes sense as you would remove compression of the ball. Thx
great tutorial 🎉
Great job by Eric of course, and by Matty for asking for clarifications for us, even though he already knows the answer in many cases. Helpful to gather confirmations and explanations from such a top-tier pro.
It’s easy when we know that there are many things we don’t know.

Great video 👍
"Hooking low loft is very difficult" - Someone who has never seen me off the tees on long par 3's.
me too. really easy to do it, usually when you expecting a nice high handsome fader
Thank you!
Thanks brother!
Basics..of shot making.. learned most of this as a Teenager. Good refresher though Matty boom boom🤙
best tutorial i have seen on this topic
top 3 at least
is the shoulder line aligned to target or same as feet on these setups?
Thanks!
Love this video! My biggest take-away, is that I should trust my instincts more and practice all kinds of shots on the range, instead of only trying to hit down a straight line (which I fail to do anyway).
It's incredible how much of what Eric was explaining just came intuitively to me when I was a kid, just having fun and not focusing on scores. All that, I since have unlearned, listening to swing gurus and trying to find that one consistent, ruler straight shot. But it all came back now.
Saved to My Favourites. Can't wait to hit the range and practice area and explore. Will have to try very hard not to experiment too much during my club tournament tomorrow morning 😅.
A lot of what we do in golf, we start to get doubts from other people and then think we need to do it different. if it aint broke, dont fix it. mostly we just need a word of permission
My immediate thought was, This is the "Corey Pavin article" from the 80's in whatever golf magazine.
It was good then, will work now.
Brother, thank you. Got games all week, time to duff! I mean draw!
edit: hit two fades and a baby draw today on purpose. Also hit the best drives of my life today. Wow. TY
Thanks 😊
Great video. Id love break points in the video for the start of each shot type
Me too
@@GolfSidekick Ok well I took this to the range today and was hitting it so much further then normal it was crazy.
Now I don't know what to do with my self. I thought I was just happy to hit my little fade only...
But yes, great video I will be watching again.
Great video, is it possible to have a concept about how to backspin?
I’ll try
Thanks
Sensei Magic
Hey Eric is back, love him. Tell him to start his own channel, that would be an instant follow for me.
I was practicing this very thing today. So hard to hit the cut!
For YEARS....25 TO BE EXACT, I've struggled putting the ball way back, face ultra closed to get out of the tree line.
As well as ball placement. The differences between forward and back of center are subtle but I over do it.
I really enjoy the live lessons with Eric
Skilful student Matt. 🙂
I guess there are many ways to skinn a cat (or how the saying goes). Ti hit a fade I shut the face and exit let my hands go more left of the target = ball further forward in the stance. To hit a draw I do the opposite. Open face and ball further back. I don't change my grip and I only slightly change where my feet are aiming.
My thinking is that I still want to feel that I am aiming almost like I do on my stock shot (low fade) so that the move doesnt feel too werid.
Eric seems to be one of the best golf instructors on CZcams
If only he was on CZcams
watch me play around those trees! thank you sir.
I'm curious does this work with the driver and fairway woods as well, or is it a different concept all together.
No. Don’t do it with them.
Robinswood range ?
Baus man, I want to get the “Hardy hibiscus polo/ bucket combo. When will you have a size medium shirt back in stock? Support the playa, my score will drop with it🤙🏼
I can hook my driver just fine. My lowest lofted club at 8 degrees and it has no problem going left into the shizer.
I have all of these shots. Just never know when I'm hitting them
"well that fixed that" 😆
I feel like we should all be sending Eric some money. GREAT lesson!!!
The man
I'm not a good golfer by any means, but I think that a true beginner should start from this. Meaning the first time hitting balls should be trying to play around with slices/hooks with moderate speed and to a target. Bringing up speed would show how the extremes are not really playable and in the end something playable might emerge.
I only play one shot shape, the high straight 300 yard bomb
Same concepts for driver?
I would just find a single shot shape with the driver and play that. Too much volatility for anyone above scratch to shape their driver both ways
