      Similar thing happened to me. I had two teen sims home alone since all the adults were out on vacation. They were supposed to be out for an extra day so my teens decided to throw a party. Little did we know the adults decided to come home early and we didn’t have the time to get everyone out. My evil teen got in trouble while the other got away with no real consequences (this was sims 3 btw)

      Most people in real life reach their full adult height by the time they're 13-16, but making teens shorter than adults helps in a gameplay sense by making it easier to distinguish between them at a glance.
      It should also be said, though, that teens in the Sims 2 also have different facial features than adults. They look noticeably younger regardless of height. It's always really cool to see how their faces change as they age into adults (and then into elders).

    The most drama I've had in the sims was at a sims 3 teen party. Had my sim, Ethan's, parents go away so he could throw a teen party. I invited his girlfriend and a couple of his friends over. Everyone gets there and a couple of sim hours later, Ethan catches his girlfriend flirting with his best friend; unbeknownst to me NRAAS story progression had them as romantic interests before I had Ethan start dating her. Ethan autonomously catches her cheating, gets the betrayed moodlet, and because he has the over-emotional trait he starts freaking out lol. He autonomously goes to fight his best friend, then slaps his girlfriend lmao. And, apparently with UL, rebound kisses show up if your sim is betrayed. I tried to do that with another teen at the party and he got rejected (ironically he's currently married to him and they adopted a child). After the party was busted by the police, I had him go to his girlfriend's house and leave a flaming bag of poo on her front porch and throw eggs at his best friend's house.
    TLDR; Sims 3 is superior in so many ways when it comes to teens and TS4 could never.

    Something we need is more consequences. Without them everything is pointless. My teen sim stayed out past curfew, strolled in the house and her parents didnt even react. Not even an upset moodlet. I had to switch to her mom and choose whether to punish or do nothing. I’m all for giving players more control but I miss the parents actually reacting to bad behavior or poor grades. I miss after school activities for my teens. I miss having them ask permission to go out or them sneaking out. I guess without cars,police and open world it wouldn’t matter. The least they can do is give us more after school activities that actually carry over to adulthood.

    • @merchantfan
      @merchantfan Před 3 lety +39

      Yeah- personally in Sims 5 I'm hoping when they do the curfew they consider if the teen is actually with family. In 3 I had teens pulled over and arrested by the cops as they were about to drive home with their parents from a family party. In 4 I had a teen go visit his older sister with his mom and he started losing responsibility as they went home. Maybe if they're in a group with an adult family member it shouldn't count against them?

      That would have been cool to have more reactions from the parents yes, without having to do it, but its still neat that you can do it, especially since it brings some consequences into relationship and also responsability points etc... I love the parenthood system, and now I realize its not too difficult to get bad traits from it, and its actually fun, the bad and good resulting traits defenitely helps having sims with more depth. Of course this is the sims 4, so depth is never has it should be, but its an interesting feature from parenthood, and also fun for parents, since you can basically control your child, just with the parents.

      Yeah- I'm glad I figured out the option on MCCC to alter those- I find the elder and adult lifespans to be too short on average lifespan, probably bc they were calculated before they made toddlers. Even family oriented sims rarely show any interest in having kids as young adults and by the time kids reach their teens their parents are likely elders and grandparents rarely get to meet their grandchildren. I really wish there was a mild 'older adult' stage in between elder and adult since they get decrepit really fast. Again, as I watch videos of Sims 4 I come to the same conclusion: Sims 4 is so limited at base that they can't program anything more substantial into the game. This is what you get when EA wants to make online or/and mobile Sims game, they change their minds, but Sims team is forced to work with what they have because scratching old and starting new would cost so much more for EA.
    Just a few traits, no in depth systems, reused animations, surface level of improvements and no substantial new stuff... They programmed themselves in a corner with the limited Sims 4 base. I have no doubt it is like that.

  • @BooDotBoo
    @BooDotBoo Před 3 lety +9

    This will probably be the only time I say this, but Sims 3 has Sims 2 beat with teens, but only because of the generations pack. Like, you can go to proms, learn to drive, have mood swing, and such and that really hit it out of the park. Sims 4 teens barely even look like teens (because they look like adults and I can never tell which is why by just looking, which annoys me) and they have very little to do. Sims 2 teens had their little extras and the cut scenes made the life stage more magical. So, for me, it's Sims 3>Sims 2> Sims 4. If they would have kept improving on Sims teens in Sims 4, they would have been amazing.

    It’s funny in the sims 4 if you are out with your family before curfew is about to start and you have pets in your house. The pet will text you telling you to come home so you aren’t out past curfew.

    It's sad because there are things done really well in Sims 4 (toddlers, vampires, etc) but teens have always been so neglected. Parenthood was a good start, but I've been hoping we'll get more expansion on them for years now. They're almost not even worth playing for me these days, since they're so similar to young adults but have the annoyance of going to school lmao. It makes me sad! They are my favorite lifestage in the older games.

    We gotta be fair, sims 3 teens by themselves aren't that different to adults and only get interesting with generations on. HOWEVER, the fact that generations is even a thing is already an improvement over sims 4. Sims 4 has had a lifespan of 6 YEARS and there's no sign of generations.

    1. They can get grounded for several days for their pranks (don't remember if for bad grades as well) and they can make it up by cleaning around the house or something else
    2. They can pull pranks at school or other people's houses (throw eggs, TP, etc.)

    In TS4 I have to set many things up with MCCC such as age, skill and career difficulty, STORY PROGRESSION, etc. that it becomes a NECESSITY. It's a bit tiresome though because of the number of clicks and popups to set it up, not to mention game restart for every settings changed.

      I think most are only treating teens as kids when they share an opinion that's different from theirs or something that doesn't fit their mindset. "Oh you're just a kid, you wouldn't understand." But if it's about school/work/responsibility for things that are done, teens are treated as adults.

    They all have their strong points. I liked that in Sims 2 they could ask for permission to go out, or even sneak out (wish that was in Parenthood. It would tie in nicely with curfew). It sounds like a lot of the interactions in Sims 3 came with the Generations expansion pack, but they sound cool. I like in 4 that teens are the same height as adults, but thinner (this is much more realistic), but I do wish there was more interactions for them. I heard that teens were left out of the last survey, maybe they're working on a pack specifically for them.
