Thank you so much for the advice! If I could send pictures on CZcams, I would HAVE to show how good this actually looks! You’re awesome, ma’am! Have a blessed day/afternoon/night! ❤
One thing I always do for my Sims is play with the eyes- usually make them smaller, and move them down or outward.. detail edit mode is great if you're going for a very particular eye shape, but even just rotating the eyes to slant in or out changes the look of a Sim completely.
I sometimes add one of the Mac blushes in a pink or reddish tone, especially on really pale sims, for swimwear and occasionally hot weather. I don’t make it too obvious, only low opacity. It gives the impression that the sim is especially warm in the summer heat or slightly sunburned.
I use cc for this, but I do the same for Hot Weather and Cold Weather. I will do different blush shapes, as well. Cold is purple-y, more on the nose and under the eyes, while Hot is more like the EA blush in this video, and red (obviously low opacity)
One tip I have is there’s a certain eyeshadow from get to work that’s under the eyes, if you use the blue shade, turn down the brightness all the way (depending on skintone of course but mostly all the way) and then lower the opacity it makes it look like your sim is super tired, as if they have bags under their eyes, or the opposite effect if you use it correctly
I'm so bored of saying this in the comments, but by "avoid unnatural colours" I mean the bad oversaturated EA swatches that are meant to be blond, brown and ginger. Ofc if you want to make a sim with dyed hair you can, you don't need me to tell you that. 🙃
@JCYT I always meme and say spot the American, but *most* Americans somehow seem to not realise they're ones who *technically* spell things incorrectly to seem like quirky individuals to break away from the English way of spelling. :) FYI it's colour :P
For makeup, I like to use the lipstick that's kind of two-toned (?). Not the one that has different upper and power lips, but the one that has a different inner color. I adjust the colors to match the skin nicely and then it looks pretty realistic and can work on masc and fem characters. I also use the most natural blush, eyeshadow, and eyeliner on both masc and fem characters for details and life :)
Yeah practice and experiment. Don't let you get stuck in the same old same old. Have fun! If it feels like I'm not happy with the sim I'm working with, I usually make another sim to go ham on and make something ridiculus. Then I'll go back to the first sim and see it with new eyes. And if that doesn't work I can put the sim totally aside for awhile, save it to the library, forget about them, and later someday I'll find them again and I see them with Totally new eyes. And maybe I realise then that this sim wasn't so great as I thought and will just delete it. And sometimes I see something about them that gives me inspiration. Something my art teacher always said was "kill your darlings", if you're too attatched to a piece but at the same time can't find a way to improve it, trash it. Sounds scary. In sims it can translate to, maybe, I worked alot at the sims nose, really put alot of time on it, but everything I do the sim doesn't look like I want. If I reset the nose, even if I worked so hard on it and don't want to change it, everything will probably flow much better. This got long, I'm sorry about that, I got carried away. And sorry if it's confusing, my english aint the best.
Something I do (you need the get to work pack tho) is there is an eyeshadow that goes only on the under eyes. If you choose the purple shade and tone the saturation down a bit it looks like eye bags!!
I always use parts of "invisible" makeup mixed with real makeup (like color eyeshadow, eyeliner), makeup does make a sim look more interesting even when you can't tell they have makeup
Ayeee I do that too. My guy sims often have the blush from get to work that has a sharp line at the top. I darken the orange shade and lower the opacity to look good on their skin tone and I also add the highlighter in the face paint section :D I just love how it turns out!! I also give them a low opacity lipstick often and short cc eyelashes!
I don't have the patience to adjust the make-up PER outfit. Heck, I specifically choose make-up either on the top or bottom of the list to find them easily😂. I wish you could just copy paste them on every outfit without having to manually adjust them one by one.
I did this and my sims looks wayy better than before. I took my time last night getting in the right details for my Sims and I love the way it turned out. Before they looked like one of those horrific cartoon characters...
Oh my god when it went back to the start it was a jumpscare! Good job, seriously impressive! I don’t use ccs and this is actually really useful, thank you
I ran into this short on home page and I was sure from the title it's one by SatchOnSims but I'm glad to get a REAL tutorial and not a sarcastic one 😂 p.s also love Satch
I'm pleasantly surprised! The classic custom content created sims aren't my taste, they look too perfect to me. But I really like the look of your Sim and they fit into the sims world perfectly too!
The suncream in white or pale pink is brilliant for adding natural highlight when the opacity is turned down. I also use the glossy Mac lipstick opacity turned down in a pink to add colour to the sims mousth
The problem for me is that I spend so long giving my Sims "natural" makeup (to make it look like they don't have makeup, just to brighten their looks), but then you can't copy and paste it for each look so, by the time I get to cold weather I'm just like f**k it their face ain't that different anyway 😂😂😭😭 great tips, I just wish I had the patience!
Love this advice!! Could you make a video on how to make realistic/different outfits for sims? I have an issue with constantly giving my sims the same clothes and never know how to give them a unique style :(
Yess I use so much alpha cc but I still use base game makeup to help make natural pigmentation around the eyes, cheeks, etc for sims that don’t wear makeup, it really helps them look more natural
Also with makeup don’t make it so saturated I normally do a dark brown for the eyeliner and eyeshadow I do a super translucent red to give color around the eyes
So since your lips aren’t only one solid color i like to use the lipstick that has some darker in the middle and lighter on the outside, it looks really natural and I use it even for people who don’t wear makeup
My other favourite tip is to always pull the corners of the lips down in full detail edit mode, it looks SO much more realistic and less “fake smile” !
Me when my sims wear makeup I finish the makeup with the highlighter in the face paint section it really finishes the look and sometimes i use it for bronzer too! I didn't know about it until April this year
this is good for playstation cus i think you cant download cc on there, but if u play on pc or mac i recommend getting cc because it looks so much better than the original stuff
how is it even possible to go from the good Sims 3 hair where you had a wide spectrum of color AND more natural looking hair to creating THIS... like.... how and why

Totally agree!
i do the exact same thing!! make the small eyes bigger and big eyes smaller and i always have to move the eyes down and out!
Came to the comments to say exactly this. Making the eyes smaller is an instant improvement
agreed! changing the iris size is usually the game changer for me
Absolutely!!! A lot of my Sims' eyes are smaller though
I still don't understand why the Sims team didn't make actual lashes in the first place.
Yes! In sims 3 there were beautiful lashes, you could even choose the lenght…
@@laaciatathe sims 4 seems to be a huge downgrade in many aspects :c
i agree sims 3 seem more realistic, ts4 has futuristic vibe.
it’s bc it’s stylized.. i understand how in many aspects ts4 is a downgrade from ts3 but let’s be fr here, compared to ts4 - ts3 is fucken ugly
@@clown-catTS3 was a product of its time. TS4 has ugly eyelashes if we’re being truly honest, and it’s a current game

That’s why I refuse to not use cc 😃

I do something similar for cold weather, different blush, to enhance the look of being wind blown in the cold.
I use cc for this, but I do the same for Hot Weather and Cold Weather. I will do different blush shapes, as well. Cold is purple-y, more on the nose and under the eyes, while Hot is more like the EA blush in this video, and red (obviously low opacity)

geez how does she look so cute without cc? How is this even possible?!
for people who use console this is normal, u dont NEED cc if u know how to play into the sims advantages
Basic stuff that lots of people tends to forget or don't pay enough attention to : the side PROFILE!
i always pick the eyes w the biggest “eyelashes” 😭😭😭 it gives the sims quite a nice no makeup look

Finally some real advice. Others are usually over sarcastic
For the lips I love using the m.a.c collab swatches it gives the sims lips some colour that isn’t too powerful
I always use parts of "invisible" makeup mixed with real makeup (like color eyeshadow, eyeliner), makeup does make a sim look more interesting even when you can't tell they have makeup

I wish there was a slider for the hair still, that way the pink and all the other colors wasn’t so bright
This is so useful. Some people give up and dive head first into cc, but its really amazing to see what you can achieve with base game!
I prefer this kind of talent than people using the mods
I use the faded mid lip one ( idk what to call it but most koreans use it in makeup ) and lower the opacity to give the inner lip a darker look!
i do that too lol, I thought I was the only one
Lol bot at all, i love doing it it makes it so textured because i have it on xbox and dont have cc
