Great job string surfin. Marty wrote a lot of great story songs and I love the testament of faith he put into this one. I wish we had more interviews with Marty but there's a few of them out there. There's also a couple with his wife Marizona where we get a glimpse of their life together.
Hi Coot, good to hear from you. I have watched all the live recordings of Marty I could find over the years and he seems like a very nice guy who was blessed with a one of a kind voice. Marty wrote a lot of songs and I like them all but this one is my #1 favorite that he wrote. Stay safe
@@stringsurfin768 I recently found a new to me video of Marty singing Master's Call live on some show. I think its a newer upload by someone as it had a recent upload date. The show is from 1971. It may have been the Johnny Cash show. I have never seen him perform this song so it was cool to see. He did a great job as usual but it seems as though they may have upped the tempo, perhaps for reasons of limited air time and it seemed to be a little too fast. Marty seemed to be really working to get through it. Its already a challenging story song to get through I imagine but adding to that a faster tempo must make for a more rigorous exercise. I wish we could have gotten a whole album of just Marty and his guitar. Thank you again for sharing your playing and singing. Take care.
@@Coot I think I saw this video recently as he did seem to be rushing it, I will try to find it again. It would have been great to have a album of just him and guitar. I'm sure you have seen the old black and white TV episodes called the drifter. Just Marty and his guitar. Thanks
@@stringsurfin768 Yes sir I've seen a few of those episodes and they are excellent. My folks bought me a VHS of several of those episodes but I never had the whole series. I've always loved a song he sung on one of those episodes called "Virginia". I also recently found on CZcams one of the movies he made which I've never seen and look forward to watching. If I could have been born earlier I think I would have loved to find work as a regular extra on a Western series and in Western movies. I also have much admiration for guys like Richard Farnsworth. I would have loved to have learned and been a stunt man and actor alongside guys like him.

@@Coot The movies and actors from those days had a magic about them. I dont find much in todays movie industry that gets me excited.
